IPhone :: Text Audible Alert In Silent Mode
Mar 20, 2012I have a need to have text (SMS) messages to wake me, but I dno't want general emails to wake me at night. My iPhone 4s spends most of its life in silet mode, but I need all text messages to be obnoxious so that they will make me. When I had a BLackberry I could set different message notification types for example I can always have text messages loud but could silence anything else. I'm toying aroudn with setting the contact SMS to be the Alarm tone but I'm not sure how this iwll work when I have it in silent...
I've read articles on Google where I'm not the only person seeking this functionality; the most recent article was a doctor that was on-call. While I'm not a doctor, I do work an on-call position.

Aug 8, 2011Yes, I'm having the new standard MOPHO problems, like no audio on calls, rebooting, etc. I noticed something new, today....I send a text, the answer comes in a different window, with the same name. Answer in the new window, it goes to the old. Back and forth. ARGH! Very aggrivating. Yes, I restarted, left the battery out, etc.

Nov 13, 2011I found another bug that is recreatable. If you are in the middle of sending a text message and using the voice input and talking to the voice input when a call comes in, the voice input is abandoned, the "answer/ignore" screen shows for a second. But before you can answer, the keyboard comes back up and covers it up, so you can't answer the call. And then the keyboard is stuck on the screen. "back" doesn't make it go away (so you still can't answer the call). Even if you go to the home screen, the keyboard is still on the screen. Stock phone, not rooted, all updates applied, etc.

Jun 3, 2010Have had the 9650 for a week, so far so good. Does anyone know if there is a way to get an audible alert and a notice to my messages that a voicemail is waiting ? I believe my curve used to do this. Not looking for the app you can buy re: missed calls.....just if there is a voicemail waiting.

Apr 3, 2012I keep my phone on silent while in class, and I recently received an audible alert during lecture while on silent. The alert tone was not one that I have set or recognize, and I was only able to view "iPhone alert" before frantically turning it off. Does anyone know what causes these embarrassing audible alerts while in silent mode or know of a way to check past alerts?

It is set to play a sound (message 1), and i've had it for months it used to beep normally but now it doesn't anymore. and the phone is not on silent. It doesn't show the new message icon either. Only way I know I've got a new message is by going into the messages screen and seeing the red inbox sign.

As since the answer is likely still no, why do you think Apple still hasn't implemented this, especially since we now have iOS4? My concern is because while I love the default (tri-tone I think it's called), with so many friends and family with iPhones, it starts to get confusing for people (since nearly everyone around me uses this one as the others are meh).

However this morning I put my phone on mute and when i received a text message my phone chimes. I turned the sound off and defaulted the messages to silent but it still keeps making the same noise even though my phone is on silent.

Jul 4, 2010I have never posted on anything like this before so please bear with me.I have a new 6700 slide, but there are 2 things I can't get used to, having had a Samsung phone before.
1. (The worst thing) - if a text comes in, and I don't happen to hear the buzzy tone thing, then I don't get another reminder, and there is no visible sign on the phone that there is a new message unless I open the slide. Even then it doesn't tell me who the message is from and I have to go to the inbox. Is there a way of getting more than one alert? I really don't like this.
2. Every time I turn the phone on it asks me to set up my email preferences. I don't want to use it for email but even if I cancel it, it asks me again next time I turn it on. Can I stop it asking once and for all?
3. Is there a way of marking text messages for deletion, without having to mark just one (very time consuming) or all (which you might not want to do)?
I would be really grateful for any help on one or all of these questions. I really wanted a Nokia but now I am pining for my Samsung.

When I back out it will appear in the full text message list.When the recipient replies it will come in a new thread. All sent will be in a thread and all recieved will be in another. I have all contact phone numbers saved in this format: (555) 555-1212. It doesn't always perform this way and reacts randomly. Jan 19, 2012Many of my apps are no longer functioning propery (even email) because the internal storage has filled up. All 8.9 gbs of it. I have an SD Card (32 gb) and it has over 29 gb of available space. I have the media set to save to the sdcard so my pics/movies are there. I have 1.9 gbs of space (out of the 2.9 gb) for apps left so I have plenty of room there. How and what do I move to the SDCARD and how do I make sure this data is saved to the sdcard from now on? When I go to manage the apps I can;t find anything. I can manually move files but what can/should I move and how do I get the apps (etc) to save to the sdcard only?

Aug 26, 2011Since the update or attempt to install the Swype beta I've had a problem with text boxes not receiving characters entered by the keyboard or voice command. I can pull up a search or text message or email. All of them will allow the keyboard to display and it vibrates to let me know I'm pressing characters, but nothing ever actually appears in the window. Same for voice input. It appears to be working, but no words actualy appear in the text window.

Nov 12, 2012I'm having trouble setting a default tone for incoming texts. I assumed this was done in Settings->Sound->Default notification, but texts still come in with the original factory default tone. This is not good since I have so much trouble hearing the tone and subsequently miss texts. Do you have to set the tone and restart the phone? I've had a similar problem with ringtones as well. You set a custom ringtone for a contact, it acknowledges that the tone is set, but the tone that's played for the contact is the default. I'm honestly starting to regret getting this phone. I'm running the most recent firmware for the Photon Q 4G LTE (7.7.1Q-6_SPR-125_ASA-10). Unfortunately, the issue existed prior to the update and is still a problem.

Dec 23, 2011When I am trying to sync music from Itunes to my Photon through the Motorola Media Link software I get a error message after all the music files have transfered. The message says that the MLL has stopped working. None of the music ends up on the phone.
