I would like to save the Caller ID to a contact so I can assign a custom text tone. The problem is that every text ID is different. Mar 30, 2012A friend showed me that while a text message window is open, I can tap the screen near the time, and an option will come up which allows me to call that contact. My daughter and I both have iPhone 4s's, but for some reason, when I tap the screen near the time while texting her, the option to call her does NOT appear. The only choices are "Email, Contact Info and Load Earlier Messages". I have deleted her contact info and recreated it, and it still is the same.

Jul 22, 2010My mum got the Nokia E72 yesterday, and when she recieves a text message it just says "One message received". Now, on all her old Nokia's (6600 Slide the last one), once a text message was recieved, it says "One new message", but also the sender beneath this. Is there a way to get the sender's name on the text message notification screen, like mentioned above?

Aug 27, 2011Has anyone else had a problem with getting the same text message (from one or more sender) sent several times?On the first occurance I called Sprint and thier fix was to block the number(s) I got the text from, reset the phone then unblock the number(s) since they were sources I did want to get text messages from.That appeared to clear up the problem but again this weekend it happened again.Took the phone to the Sprint store nearby; thier fix for everything is usually do a hard reset.That was a couple of hours ago but again have started getting some of those text again.I don't know if it's a network issue with Sprint and the (re)delivery of those messages OR if it's the phone thinking it's a new message?

Jul 13, 2010Is there a way to set a custom text message alert like you can a ringtone? (I'm already 90% sure you can't because I searched and found 2+ year old threads that say no, but I just want to know if there is any possibility of this now.)
As since the answer is likely still no, why do you think Apple still hasn't implemented this, especially since we now have iOS4? My concern is because while I love the default (tri-tone I think it's called), with so many friends and family with iPhones, it starts to get confusing for people (since nearly everyone around me uses this one as the others are meh).

I have already been to the notifications settings in the factory widget app I'm using and turned off "display notifications in status". However this seems to not show ANY notification in the status bar that there is an unopened text waiting. To clarify, what I'd like is to see that the notification that a text came in, i just don't want the scrolling preview to be seen when it comes in.

It is set to play a sound (message 1), and i've had it for months it used to beep normally but now it doesn't anymore. and the phone is not on silent. It doesn't show the new message icon either. Jul 4, 2010I have never posted on anything like this before so please bear with me.I have a new 6700 slide, but there are 2 things I can't get used to, having had a Samsung phone before.
1. (The worst thing) - if a text comes in, and I don't happen to hear the buzzy tone thing, then I don't get another reminder, and there is no visible sign on the phone that there is a new message unless I open the slide. Even then it doesn't tell me who the message is from and I have to go to the inbox. Is there a way of getting more than one alert? I really don't like this.
2. Every time I turn the phone on it asks me to set up my email preferences. I don't want to use it for email but even if I cancel it, it asks me again next time I turn it on. Can I stop it asking once and for all?
3. Is there a way of marking text messages for deletion, without having to mark just one (very time consuming) or all (which you might not want to do)?
I would be really grateful for any help on one or all of these questions. I really wanted a Nokia but now I am pining for my Samsung.

(I believe him ) But later this evening, both our phones show a reply that looks as if it was sent from his iPhone immediately after I sent mine.
