I have looked everywhere for how to hide text message preview and make it only say "new text message". I am coming from a galaxy s4 and this is how I had it set up I was just wondering if it is possible now. I am also trying to this with having to have a password or pattern on my lock screen if that makes a difference.

I have already been to the notifications settings in the factory widget app I'm using and turned off "display notifications in status". However this seems to not show ANY notification in the status bar that there is an unopened text waiting. To clarify, what I'd like is to see that the notification that a text came in, i just don't want the scrolling preview to be seen when it comes in.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus GT-I9105. It's not rooted and I never will.
When I click from either the "Notification" screen, or the Text Message List, I am directed to the wrong text messaging thread. This doesn't happen every time, it happens every day, and multiple times, however. Usually, when I reboot the phone, the problem is gone...momentarily.
It seems to happen with random messages. I use Universal Inbox and currently see message from text, Facebook, Twitter, Gmail and my AT&T mail.
If I use the stock Text Messaging app, I can open the list of messages and see whatever I can from the preview there, but when I click to open the thread, it will open a totally random message thread. Weird. I'm not that into text messaging, but it does annoy me when I need to use it and I can't open individual messages because the wrong ones are appearing.
I don't know if this is a device problem, a software/app problem, an AT&T messaging problem or what. I'm somewhat ignorant about smartphones and have only had this Atrix 2 for about three months.
How do I increase the amount of text messages that gets save to a lot more then 20?

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I flashed M p1 and then updated to p2 without need of root.Now I just needed that for a particular reason and I used NRT root option, but it was too late when I realized that it was flashing the stable version of SuperSU and would not work. Since then I've flashed 2.49 (beta) one that I read somewhere that should clean the files from previous installations, but it's not booting at all. Basically I want to keep the files on SD and applications. So, what should I choose? Deleting SuperSu files from Recovery? Flashing only System back? Any other method available for my scenario.

The default mass storage device label shows Unknown instead the device's name (Nexus 5), I'm not facing this issue on my Nexus 4 running 5.1.1 stock so I don't think it's an adb driver issue. I've tried to update the drivers to the latest on Google page, but no success.
I'm curious, is there a way to schedule a text message to be sent at a specific time later in the day through the Google Hangouts app?
For example, it's 6:15 a.m. right now, and I would like to text someone after they wake up today, but I may be sleeping by the time they get up, so I'm wondering if there is a way to schedule my phone to send out a text message 2 hours from now at 8:15 a.m.?
It seems as though there are several third-party apps that claim to do this - and I may end up trying one of those apps - but I would prefer to not install any other Texting apps on my phone, if possible, so I would like to find out if there is a way to do through through Google Hangouts.
I have T-Mobile service on a Nexus 5 running Android 4.4.4 and I use the version of Hangouts that is automatically installed on my phone for text messaging. I don't have any other Text Message apps installed on my phone.
By the way, if there is no way to do this through Google Hangouts, any 3rd-party app that will do this that they have used?
HTC ONE. With the Stock Messaging app on the phone, I like it and all but I have a small gripe about it. I don't get message previews on the lock screen when I get a message. Yes I know, maybe it's disabled to save on battery life, but battery life is not an issue for me on this phone. Anyways, the only way I can get a message preview on lock screen is if I use CHOMP SMS messaging app. I dont like it, I prefer the stock one, but I leave it on so that I can get previews on my lock screen. Any way to maybe Enable the feature so that I can see a preview of my text on the lock screen?

This has happened more than once. I need to power phone off to fix it. Running Lollipop.Watch a YouTube Video, finish it, close YouTube, even end task and verify it isn't running. When phone locks the preview image is visible for the video on the lock screen.

It wont work even when I change default SMS app to 8sms, handscent SMS, etc...Incoming SMS still appears in default SMS app and is not hidden.
I flashed yesterday Android Lollipop on my N5 and I found out a "problem" for my use.
I am using some applications like llama, lux and UP which have persistent (or ongoing, I don't know the exact term) notifications (to be not killed I presume). My issue here is that these notifactions are displayed on my lockscreen and it is taking space for nothing.
Before I was using "slidelock", which is a lockscreen app and these persistent notifs were not displayed on the lockscreen but were still on the status bar.
Is there a way to have the same behavior?

I am trying to hide an app so that it doesn't show up on the android overview app screen - this is the swipe to close screen that shows up when you tap on the lower right hand corner of the nexus 5 and it shows all your running apps and you can swipe them away to close them. I'm an immigrant to Android from iOS. On my iPhone, whenever there is an incoming call that I didn't answer, or a new message, there is always a very visible notification on the phone desktop, so I can deal with it immediately. This doesn't seem to be happening with my Nexus 5. Sometimes I don't discover the message, which was obviously designed for immediate reading, until days after, when I am going through my messages. I'm sure there must be a way to make the phone let me know, but I haven't figured it out yet.
