I need to find out how do I change my text msg to just state I have a text msg whe I recieve one, I dont want the content to show on the screen. I have a 4s and cant find this functionality. I no I used to have it on my 3 .

I have a question about SMS texts. My Fire Dept sends text messages with the call location and info to our phones. I would like to save the Caller ID to a contact so I can assign a custom text tone. The problem is that every text ID is different. The first was 1 (410) 000-052 and then the next was 1 (410) 000-053.

A friend showed me that while a text message window is open, I can tap the screen near the time, and an option will come up which allows me to call that contact. My daughter and I both have iPhone 4s's, but for some reason, when I tap the screen near the time while texting her, the option to call her does NOT appear. The only choices are "Email, Contact Info and Load Earlier Messages". I have deleted her contact info and recreated it, and it still is the same.

Now, on all her old Nokia's (6600 Slide the last one), once a text message was recieved, it says "One new message", but also the sender beneath this. Is there a way to get the sender's name on the text message notification screen, like mentioned above?
View 6 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else had a problem with getting the same text message (from one or more sender) sent several times?On the first occurance I called Sprint and thier fix was to block the number(s) I got the text from, reset the phone then unblock the number(s) since they were sources I did want to get text messages from.That appeared to clear up the problem but again this weekend it happened again.Took the phone to the Sprint store nearby; thier fix for everything is usually do a hard reset.That was a couple of hours ago but again have started getting some of those text again.I don't know if it's a network issue with Sprint and the (re)delivery of those messages OR if it's the phone thinking it's a new message?

I have a contact on iphone to which are attached several mobile numbers. When this contact sends me an sms I only get his name, how can i see the number he is sending me that sms from? so in simpler words I want to inverse the process and instead of showing me the contact name I want my iphone to show me the phone number of the sms sender. Because oddly enough I haven't found anyone having this query online although I imagine lots of people have contacts with multiple phone numbers attached to them and inevitably sometimes you want to know which number that contact is using to send you an sms from! Btw I have an iphone4 with iOS 5.1 installed.

When I search for someone with a home, work and mobile number I'm only ever going to text the mobile (or iPhone) numbers. Anyone know of a way to filter it so that only they show up? I'm assuming it would be possible to tweak that on a jailbroken phone.

(I believe him ) But later this evening, both our phones show a reply that looks as if it was sent from his iPhone immediately after I sent mine. It said something that kind of made sense as a reply, but definitely didn't sound like him. Weird!

When sending messages to one of our iPhones, the wrong name of the sender appears. The phone also does not notify the receiver. This started after we purchased in iPad and attempted sending that phone an iMessage.

I just switched to the Galaxy S5 from the iPhone 5, so I am still trying to learn the new format.
First: I know how to get text message previews to show up, however, is there a way to get the text message on the lock screen to show the name, but not the full message? Right now I can either get the name and the full message on the lock screen or just "new message".
Second: Is there a way to transfer all my iTunes music onto the S5 so I don't lose it?
I just purchased a Nokia 5800 and I happened to notice that when i receive a text message, it does not show the name of the sender in the main screen. I have seen other Nokia phones and I am sure the phone must display the sender's name or number in the home screen as soon as the message arrives, but mine just says 1 New Message instead of 1 New Message from xyz. Are there any settings I need to change or is it this way itself in 5800?
View 9 Replies View RelatedOn my iPhone, when I would receive a text message, my lock screen would show who the message was from but it wouldn't include a "preview" of what the message said. It just said Text Message and the persons name. Whenever I receive a text message on my Galaxy S6, is it not possible for the alert on my lock screen to just say "New Message" or just even the contact's name and no preview of the message?
Under Notifications settings --> Notifications on lock screen -- I have the option of Show Content or Do Not Show Notifications.
Shouldn't there be additional options of "turn preview off". Something to that effect? Same with my emails. I'd rather it just say who the email is from an not a snippit of the email contents. Is this possible for email and text messages?
When I receive a text message, I don't want the name of the sender of the test message to appear on my screen. All I want to see is a small, white number inside of a red circle, attached to my Message icon. I'm sure there is a way to turn off this feature, but I haven't yet been able to figure out how to do it.

I have a Bold 9650 with blackberry os 6.
For a while now I can only view text messages from the "message" icon on my phone. I used to be able to view 2 different email accounts. The only way I can see my emails now is from the little window just below where the time is displayed.
so I notice when I get a new blackberry bold 9650 I notice that I could receive a cool looking text message icon. However, I need to figure out how could I transfer all my data.The blackberry desk manager never did work on my old phone witch. After plugging in the new phone on my PC it asked if I wanted to transfer my data... So I did.I realized that when I was receiving text messages they were looking more like email icons. I tried to look up in my options and I can't find anything.

If I reply the missing message will then show up in the chat above my reply. A battery pull solves this problem but it only seems to be a temporary fix as it has happened again.

Is there anything in the iPhone SMS tones that allows the tone to change according to the sender or the message content? There are classes of SMS alerting that I am getting, and being able to change the tone according to family/friends, spam (yes, spam) and automated alerting would help filter (audibly) who is originating the message.

I think it is crazy that all recipients need to see yes or no answers & sometimes pay for all the additional texts. Likewise, I hate that you have to send a separate text back to the sender.
