IPhone :: Message Sender's Name Is Coming Up As An E-mail Address.
Apr 6, 2012
When my friend SMS me, instead of their name coming up at the top it comes up as their E-mail address. When I go to save it as a number, it doesn't work, when they text me it comes up as the E-mail address. Is there a solution to this??
I have an LG G3. I did not like the stock messaging app because I would get missed message notifications and a couple random similar messages. so I tried two other apps. Textra and Google messenger. I still got the same missed messages so I figured it was a network type of thing so I removed the two apps. Now I have a notification at the top of my phone. It shows the MMS symbol and when I expand it open it says I have 6 MMS message not found. I clear it and it comes right back.
Here is my problem: if I receive an sms from someone, any other sms sent to me afterwards will appear as if they were sent from the 1st person. i.e. the contact number or name of the others will not show.thus if I also compose an sms, it will show the contact number of the 1st sms received. I can only send to another contact if I delete that 1st sms received and then compose a new one, after which the newly selected contact will show.
I'm trying to send email from iPhone 4, 1 sent, 2nd one did not. Got error message that said 'A copy has been placed in your Outbox. The sender address ______ was rejected by the server. Why did the 1st email go if they both had the same sender address?
It is rather strange, but since I updated to iOS 4.0 and set up my Gmail account for Mail and Notes via IMAP, everytime I check my mail on my iPhone, and later delete it on my Mac, the iPhone Mail App shows scores of unread emails, with as No Sender, No subject and no option to delete the same. Anyone else experience this? Any workarounds/solutions?
I have a question about SMS texts. My Fire Dept sends text messages with the call location and info to our phones. I would like to save the Caller ID to a contact so I can assign a custom text tone. The problem is that every text ID is different. The first was 1 (410) 000-052 and then the next was 1 (410) 000-053.
When sending messages to one of our iPhones, the wrong name of the sender appears. The phone also does not notify the receiver. This started after we purchased in iPad and attempted sending that phone an iMessage.
Person A sent me a photo using iMessage. But it shows that it came from Person B. even though that is impossible. I re-started the phone and it still shows up in Person B's message thread. iPhone 5s fully updated to latest iOS
A friend showed me that while a text message window is open, I can tap the screen near the time, and an option will come up which allows me to call that contact. My daughter and I both have iPhone 4s's, but for some reason, when I tap the screen near the time while texting her, the option to call her does NOT appear. The only choices are "Email, Contact Info and Load Earlier Messages". I have deleted her contact info and recreated it, and it still is the same.
Is there anything in the iPhone SMS tones that allows the tone to change according to the sender or the message content? There are classes of SMS alerting that I am getting, and being able to change the tone according to family/friends, spam (yes, spam) and automated alerting would help filter (audibly) who is originating the message.
Whenever I sent a text message, it comes through as my email address instead of my phone number. When I went to Settings > Messages, under "Receive at", is at my email address as the default and next to my phone number it says Error.I upgraded my phone, is there a reason this is happening? No one is really getting my texts.
My work voicemail emails me after-hours messages via gmail. Callers are given the option of tagging them as "urgent", which on my Windows phone, meant that they came in with a little red exclamation point (just as Outlook does). Urgent messages on iphone's mail app, though, don't seem to have any such indicator. Am I missing a setting somewhere?
I just sent an e-mail to myself from my blackberry and chose to send from my gmail account, but instead it just decided it might be better to send it from my work e-mail address? How do I fix this? It's absolutely unacceptable and I really hate to know who else now has my work e-mail address because of this. My phone tells me it sent from the correct e-mail address, but the address showing up in the e-mail where I received it says my work e-mail address was the sender.
If it was mixing up my gmail accounts that'd be irritating, but not a big deal - but the fact that it's just sending out of my work e-mail is a serious problem - does anyone know how to fix this?
My mum got the Nokia E72 yesterday, and when she recieves a text message it just says "One message received". Now, on all her old Nokia's (6600 Slide the last one), once a text message was recieved, it says "One new message", but also the sender beneath this. Is there a way to get the sender's name on the text message notification screen, like mentioned above?
I am facing the problem on my N95 8GB where the name of the message sender is not displayed. The phone number is displayed instead without the + sign but with the country code. I have checked that it is not stored as duplicate and its stored in the international format i.e. with the + sign and the country code. Also, only the options of Forward and Delete appear for such messages i.e. i am not able to Reply to the message. The point to be noted is that the name is displayed correctly when there is a incoming call from such a number. I had recently updated my firmware to latest version available with Nokia. I guess the problem has appeared after that.
I've encountered a serious problem with the Torch 9800 and i don't know to whom should i report . The problem is that someone sent me a message and i got it; however, it appears under a different sender which confused and embarrass me.
Has anyone else had a problem with getting the same text message (from one or more sender) sent several times? On the first occurance I called Sprint and thier fix was to block the number(s) I got the text from, reset the phone then unblock the number(s) since they were sources I did want to get text messages from. That appeared to clear up the problem but again this weekend it happened again.Took the phone to the Sprint store nearby; thier fix for everything is usually do a hard reset. That was a couple of hours ago but again have started getting some of those text again.I don't know if it's a network issue with Sprint and the (re)delivery of those messages OR if it's the phone thinking it's a new message?

Okay, I log into my gmail on my computer and it tells me my email is being viewed by another IP address. So I think did someone hack me? But it came to me that it could be my BlackBerry. It shows the other ip address not coming from a browser but from IMAP. I don't know what IMAP is. Is that the push email for blackberry? I went to whatsmyipaddress.com and my blackberry ip address was NOT the ip address it shows in IMAP on my gmail account. But I hear that blackberries use more than one IP address. So can you tell me, is IMAP pushed email? I haven't used the gmail app in a long time. Only my regular blackberry email. I need to know asap because if someone is in my account I'm going to have to change my password.
