I received a text and the source was an actual name, as if the person was in my contact list. Is it possible to get a text and have a display name if the person is not in your contact list?

When this contact sends me an sms I only get his name, how can i see the number he is sending me that sms from? so in simpler words I want to inverse the process and instead of showing me the contact name I want my iphone to show me the phone number of the sms sender. Because oddly enough I haven't found anyone having this query online although I imagine lots of people have contacts with multiple phone numbers attached to them and inevitably sometimes you want to know which number that contact is using to send you an sms from! Btw I have an iphone4 with iOS 5.1 installed.

This is my first post and my first BB, I have tthe BB Bold 9700 with T-Mo. Here is my question:How do I configure the BB to display the contact info on the text message. When ever I get a text message it just shows the phone number not the name, however when I connect to my home wi-fi, the name populate the text messages but when I dissconnect from the WI-FI the names go away and the phone numbers appear...I must have done something stupid when I was setting up my contacts and or WI-FI

(I believe him ) But later this evening, both our phones show a reply that looks as if it was sent from his iPhone immediately after I sent mine. It said something that kind of made sense as a reply, but definitely didn't sound like him. Weird!
Is there something going on with iMessage?

I have a question about SMS texts. My Fire Dept sends text messages with the call location and info to our phones. I would like to save the Caller ID to a contact so I can assign a custom text tone. The problem is that every text ID is different. The first was 1 (410) 000-052 and then the next was 1 (410) 000-053.

When I receive a text message, I don't want the name of the sender of the test message to appear on my screen. All I want to see is a small, white number inside of a red circle, attached to my Message icon. I'm sure there is a way to turn off this feature, but I haven't yet been able to figure out how to do it.

i have a problem by adding/editing new contact, after i added/edited the contact, it will shown on top of all my contact list, and i can't scroll the letter before the alphabet i added/edited.For example: i added James into my new contact list, it will appear on top of all my contacts with the alphabet J, then i can't scroll down using the scroll bar beside to search for the contacts name with alphabet before J like i want to search Benjamin using scroll bar but i can't, if i want to search someone name with alpahbet after J is fine, what's wrong with my phone?

A friend showed me that while a text message window is open, I can tap the screen near the time, and an option will come up which allows me to call that contact. My daughter and I both have iPhone 4s's, but for some reason, when I tap the screen near the time while texting her, the option to call her does NOT appear. The only choices are "Email, Contact Info and Load Earlier Messages". I have deleted her contact info and recreated it, and it still is the same.

How do you reply to just the original sender of a text message that was sent to a group? I think it is crazy that all recipients need to see yes or no answers & sometimes pay for all the additional texts. Likewise, I hate that you have to send a separate text back to the sender. View 1 Replies View RelatedHere is my problem: if I receive an sms from someone, any other sms sent to me afterwards will appear as if they were sent from the 1st person. i.e. the contact number or name of the others will not show.thus if I also compose an sms, it will show the contact number of the 1st sms received. I can only send to another contact if I delete that 1st sms received and then compose a new one, after which the newly selected contact will show.

Have searched a lot about this problem, but looks like nobody has faced this before.hen I open my contact list (or the message list) and then press the back button, they don't close. I have to press the home button to come out of them forcefully. I then can kill the messaging app by going in task manager but there is no such option for contact list. This problem occurs only for contact list and message list. Rest all apps I am able to close by pressing back button.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a 5800 that I have been troubleshooting for the past Month. We have been to the provider who has now replaced the phone twice in the past two months. Calling out appears to be fine. However when customizing the phone I am unable to set picture and a ringtone to a contact in the contact list. The Contact is saved on the phone. When the person dials in the picture will display correctly but the ringtone will play a default ring not a custom file as selected. This has heppened on all 3 of the phones. I am down to the OS of the phone which the provider says is up to date.

After finishing the call, the screen goes back to main menu.... but the contacts-app sticks active in the background. In order to close that, i have to long-press the button, switch to contacts, and close. Which is a little bit fussily.....

Now, on all her old Nokia's (6600 Slide the last one), once a text message was recieved, it says "One new message", but also the sender beneath this. 1. Storing a significant amount of text messages e.g. 3000 or so (which my current 3110c can do so shouldn't be a problem)
2. Sort text messages by sender.For example, go to Inbox, By Sender.It should also be possible to sort Sent items by who they were sent to.
Has anyone else had a problem with getting the same text message (from one or more sender) sent several times?On the first occurance I called Sprint and thier fix was to block the number(s) I got the text from, reset the phone then unblock the number(s) since they were sources I did want to get text messages from.That appeared to clear up the problem but again this weekend it happened again.Took the phone to the Sprint store nearby; thier fix for everything is usually do a hard reset.That was a couple of hours ago but again have started getting some of those text again.I don't know if it's a network issue with Sprint and the (re)delivery of those messages OR if it's the phone thinking it's a new message?

Context:I have 2 primary sources of contact information on my blackberry, my personal (gmail contacts) and my work contacts (via google apps). I would like to keep these contact lists separate and apart from one another, but accessible if required. However, as this device is primarily for work, I'd like to not have my personal contacts appearing every time i open the Contacts app. The effect I am trying to achieve is after opening contacts --> click menu --> click "Select Contact List..." --> and choosing one.Is there a way to save this as a preference/default so I don't have to filter each time i open my contact list?
