Apr 7, 2010Now I keep getting the " 1 new message received" but i want it to show the sender's name badly. How do i do it? I just bought in recently.

May 15, 2010I've just got a 5230 and transferred some photos onto it from my PC. If I try to use any of these photos for wallpaper the image is shown too large for the screen so you lose some of it. Jul 24, 2010Just about every one of the 6+ Billion telephones on the planet displays letters on the number keys, ie. ABC on #2, DEF on #3, and so on.Why is it that Nokia cannot see fit do do the same on the 5230 dial pad?
It can't be that the 'real estate is too small - LG manages to do it just fine on the Xenon GR500FD phone with smaller on-screen buttons.The lack of letters on the dialpad makes it extremely difficult to interact with IVR systems where you need to be able to dial by 'last name'think calling a large company or hospital when you don't know the person's extension.Has anyone found a way to mod the 5230 dialpad to display letters & numbers on it?

May 2, 2010I have a Nokia E71 just update to the firmware 410.21.010. I did not recovered backup after the upgrade and I formatted the memory card, so it's completely clean.
Now, Nokia Email has appear as new included application so I would like to use it, but when I configure my email account (form a supported services: ovi, gmail, etc...), the wizard only configures my mobile for the typical IMAP client. It's strange, because I have a different E71 also update to this same firmare and Nokia Messaging works fine and creates the Nokia Messaging account.How could use Nokia Messaging with my E71?. Is there some way to create a Nokia Messaging account form the web instead from the phone?.

May 25, 2012I have a Droid4 linked to my Gmail account. In my Droid, each e-mail is displayed in two rows. The top row shows the "Subject" and the second row shows the "Sender" (in a smaller font). I would like to reverse the order -- that is, display that "Sender" in the top row and the "Subject" in the second row.

Sep 15, 2011I am facing the problem on my N95 8GB where the name of the message sender is not displayed. The phone number is displayed instead without the + sign but with the country code. I have checked that it is not stored as duplicate and its stored in the international format i.e. with the + sign and the country code. Also, only the options of Forward and Delete appear for such messages i.e. i am not able to Reply to the message. The point to be noted is that the name is displayed correctly when there is a incoming call from such a number. I had recently updated my firmware to latest version available with Nokia. I guess the problem has appeared after that.

I have seen other Nokia phones and I am sure the phone must display the sender's name or number in the home screen as soon as the message arrives, but mine just says 1 New Message instead of 1 New Message from xyz. Are there any settings I need to change or is it this way itself in 5800?

Jan 30, 2010I have an unusual issue I would like some assistance on since I just got a blackberry, I have the Curve 2 8530. I use Total Call Blocking with my carrier so that when I call anyone my number is automatically blocked / restricted. Therefore, in my contact list, I have my friends or family contacts listed with the *82 in front of the number to unblock for those people. This works fine for phone calls.
However, on Text Messaging / Picture Messaging, the *82 will cause these messages to fail. I am used to LG phones, you have the ability to edit the number while creating a message, before your send one of these messages. The problem I am having is when I send a Text Message / Picture Message it appears from the blackberry as only the 10 digit number (even though the contact has *82 in front of it)...and the message shows it is sent (with the check mark) but it NEVER received.

Jul 30, 2010I have an 5230 model wich is working properly, expect one thing, when I switch it OFF, after it takes plenty of time while I can switch ON again. I keep pushing ON button for seconds (as in the manual) till the buzzer and NOKIA logo coming on screen but after 10-15 sec the screen turn dark again and nothing. Mobile is switched off again. I should do every time that process again for ages while finally it switch on.

Jul 11, 2010Just got a new 5230.Downloaded Ovi map 3.04 and installed on phone.Downloaded Ovi Suite for PC.Opened Ovi Suite adn downlaoded a map or my province, and the UK Voice w/ street names.Downlaod was successful adn I got messege that it was transfered to phone. Ovi Suite continually claims that The map is installed on my phone.I stqrt Ovi Maps on my phone, and after acquiring a strong signal, all i get is my co-ordinates, but no map is displayed. No terrain map, no satellite map, no street map.I've installed the app to phone two more times, and re-download and installed the map to my phone more than twice. Still the same problem.I've tried with both A-GPS and phone-only GPS. All signals from cell provider are very strong.Am i missing something, or is my phone having a brain-**bleep**? Having cell-independant GPS is what led me to grab this phone, as I'm out of cell range often. This is getting very frustrating and I'm starting to pull my hair out.

Jun 14, 2010I am a new owner of a Nokia Nuron 5230 (via T-Mobile USA) and I am extremely happy with it. Still, I have a couple of issues which I would like to solve with your help:
a) is there a way to turn off or, better, totally eliminate the idiotic T-Mobile jingle when the phone is turned on, and off? At the very least, can I somehow kill the sound of this horrible commercial?
b) in the OVI maps manual it says the following on how to save a place:
Save a place
1 In the map view, go to the location. To search for an address or place, select Search.
2 Press the scroll key.
My N5230 does not have a scroll key. What can I do?
c) still in Ovi Maps; I noticed that when I search for a place, it is a good idea to repeat the exact same search at least three times. Ovi Maps often finds nothing on the first or second try, but does find it on the third. Why is that?
d) again in Ovi Maps: when I am in the 'drive' mode and I have entered to point to drive to, I noticed that when a swipe my finger from right to left I get a 4 different kind of map views. Where can I find details about these views? (they are not documented in the manual I have)
e) last Ovi question: what is the best way to create a route and then look at it in a way similar to what GoogleMaps offers: a map covering start and finish, with the basic data (time, distance, etc.). I have not found a good way to create a route.
