I have about 1000 sound files on my phone's memory card. When I'll try to set personal ringtone it shows me all 1000 audio files + videos in the list, without any folder hierarchy. Why I just can't select my file in the phone with file browser-line interface? May be it will be good idea to show only files from phone memory not from the storage card. Or, maybe, I should see files only in special named directories like /Sounds/Ringtone or /Sounds/Simple
Just got my N900, trying to setup Nokia Messaging (which works on my E71). Installed the latest update OK. I'm connected through Wifi OK. Mail - Setting - Choose Region - Choose Nokia Messaging, Enter account details - all correct. But then the next screen shows the normal settings for a POP3 or IMAP Account, asking for port numbers etc.
I have a new-to-me device, after my original Curve 8530 had to be sent back to the carrier. I restored old settings from a backup re Desktop Manager, but now there are messaging problems. One, my setup folder doesn't have an e-mail setup option. Two, in "Email Reconciliation" option, only chloice I have is to change the e-mail account on "Message Services" drop-down. Related to that, if I'm in "messages," my Options screen lacks "Reconcile Now."
How do I change the default text color in messaging on a Nuron 5230?If that cannot be done in settings, can it be done with a theme? What is required to make themes, and/or edit them?
Yesterday i successfully upgraded my E52 to latest firmware - 031.012. After upgrade i removed all previous email accounts (1 MFE, 1 pop and 1 imap) and start a new setup.i have to mention, that i double checked that the email client version has updated to 2.1.0 (the old one was 2.0.5). There are also several visual changes during the email setup.
Now here is my issue: I recreated my exchange email account and it works perfectly, but when i try to add a second email account (Email->New), choose one of the providers from the list (Windows Live for example) and proceed here is what happens:
1. I get a promt to enter email address and password
2.Then "Validating settings" and "Downloading terms" progress bars start
3. After "Downloading terms" progress bar completes i am returned at the page where have to choose email provider again
Is there someone with similar issue as mine when has upgraded to 031.012?
I want to sell my 5230 as i have found i really dislike touchscreen phones. I have managed to delete everything from it and have restored factory settings but my email is still showing in a bar across the home screen. I have tried for hours to cancel it but just cant figure out how. I clearly also need help using this forum as i just posted this in completely the wrong section then couldnt work out how to move it. Sorry if you have read it twice.
AFAIU Nokia Messaging may or may not be free depending on the operator, which can charge you for the service.
Pretty much like BlackBerry, albeit in that case all data go through their servers.
If all connections go through your provider's APN, how would Nokia know whether you're connected to Nokia Messaging or to some other server? All data exchange simply count towards your internet bundle, regardless if you use it for mail, internet browsing or whatever else you want to do, doesn't it?
got today an update and since than i am not able to open any email anymore.if i open the email it just closes the whole programm. So not having any emails on the phone anymore this 5800 is not useable anymore for me.
Nokia messaging worked great untill 2 days ago when it stopped syncing my gmail account, I tried reinstalling nokia messaging and deleted my acount and added my account again. It syncs all my emails up to the 14th of April and does not go further. Can someone help me solve this issue?
Can i delete email accounts without resetting the phone and losing all data? I have read one post and that appeared to be the only solution. surely not.
Got a new 5230 Nuron a few weeks ago. So far: quite pleased with it. With one exception: I have set up 4 email addresses. I'd like to set them all to auto retrieval; but the phone only lets me set 2 with that option. If I select a 3rd it tells me "maximum amount of mailboxes already automatically retrieving e-mails". Is there a way around this?
Using E71 on latest firmware 400.xxx, Nokia Messaging application does not synchronize my mail accounts automatically. Tried various settings under "when to sync" with no luck e.g. days: sunday trough to suturday, sync all day, all hours, always sync etc. However the manual synchronization works just fine. So hope someone can help at least with how to attempt troubleshoot this issue. If not with solution, as having email that one needs to sync manually is totally pointless.

I performed a hard reset on my Nokia E72 last night. The problem I am encountering now is when I try to add my email addresses back to the Nokia messaging Program it keeps asking me for the password.Even when I enter the correct password it just keeps asking for it over and over again.
The Nokia Messaging email widget just stopped working at 5pm Pacific Daylight Time on Tuesday, July 27. Now every time I open up the email widget, it keeps asking me for my password and says login unsuccessful when I enter the password and try to login.Just an hour earlier, it was working fine.
I am trying to set up my outbound mail on Nolia Messaging with my mail provider, Virgin. I have found that when I synch the mailbox, the previoulsy read mail disappears. Virgin have recommended that the email address is prefixed with Recent: e.g recent:username@virgin.net. The problem with this is that the Virgin SMTP server does not recognise the email address when Recent is added and the outbound emails are not sent. I have tried using the T-Mobile SMTP server settings using the Nokia messaging portall by adding smtp.t-email.co.uk but this is not accepted when adding it into the server details. Anybody got any ideas - I am going crazy and being bounced between Nokia, T-Mobile and Virgin.
Ive already set up and have registered "SIP setting", but how to make call via this inbuilt sip of my Nokia E52? I have not any "internet tel" in my phone accroding to manuals on net....Of course, talkonaut or nimbuzz is working good please and thank you
if i create a new email account on the 5230 and enter my mail address which looks similiar like this one the mail wizard says that it is invalid. what's wrong here? I updated the phone two days ago. Please do not post any personal information such as email addresses or IMEIs in the public forums. You can send a PM to a user that asks for it.
For no reason I can tell my email notification bar on my home screen has disappeared.I am left with just the shadowed bar where the text for the email count used to be. When I select this bar it flashes red as if I've selected it and I also get a select vibrate but nothing opens.I have tried switching off the notification in my home screen settings, and the good old turining the phone off and on again.
I'm using he Nokia Messaging (email.nokia.com) application for push email. Yesterday I added an Exchange account from my company. It installed Mail for Exchange and everything went smoothly. After a few minutes the Email widget on the Home screen disappeared. I uninstalled Mail for Exchange and Nokia Messaging but still won't appear again. I even setup an email account using the phones integrated client and still it doesn't show up. On the screen there's only an empty field, as wide as the screen, which changes it's color on click. Right now the only email app installed is Nokia Messaging.
I bought my first BlackBerry (Curve 3G 9300) on Friday and tried to setup a personal email account on the phone via the setup wizard earlier today. The phone said that an update to 6.11...... was needed in order to do this. I let it update, now the phone is just hanging after starting up. If I do a start up after removing the battery it comes up with a black screen with the BlackBerry logo and a progress bar below it. The progress bar moves along until the end, this takes around a minute. It then shows something like a little clock over the logo for about a second. Once this disappears the phone says with the logo and the completed progress bar - and just hangs there.
I am unable to add my Yahoo email account using the Nokia Messaging Mobile Email <https://netac72.vie.hosting.nokia.com/account/home.action> I was able to use it before and I canceled my subscription in yahoo because I signed up a new subscription using my Gmail account and it works with the Gmail. however, when I try to add another email account again which is my yahoo mail, it won't work with my yahoo mail anymore. Where using the Nokia Messaging you can add up to 10 email accounts. When I click the button that says ADD ANOTHER, it will lead you to the page where you ad your other email accounts and that email add must already exist, but after i fill up the box typing the correct existing yahoo email add, my correct yahoo password, and after clicking NEXT button, it just doesn't get across. the error shows "This email address must be added on the phone". So, i added my yahoo mail on my phone using the Email setting wizard on my Nokia E72 with the correct email ad and password. After adding it on my phone, I tried to do it again on the Nokia messaging Site and did it all over agin. And still it won't work on my yahoo. I still get the same ERROR!
I've been reading a lot about Nokia Messaging and some sources say that it is a real push email service like BIS but some say that it needs to maintain an active connection all the times to ensure instantenous delivery of email. What's the truth? When I choose 'push' on my Nokia E72, it is connected to the internet all the time and only pretends to be real push, but I was wondering whether it's because my operator is not supported. Also, what difference does it make when your operator supports Nokia Messaging? As far as I know, my operator is not supported, but I easily set up Nokia Messaging with my Nokia E72. So, doesn't it mean that the only thing required for the Nokia Messaging to work is a data plan? Why does Nokia make announcements about starting to offer Nokia Messaging in countries where there already is internet in mobile phones?
