Nokia :: N900 Lirc Module To Reinstall
Mar 20, 2010Few days ago, I installed Irreco on my N900. At the beggining it was working fine, but I install a new remote and my config file crashed. And after a bad manipulation in the terminal I delete the Lirc module. Is anyone can help how to reinstall this module on the N900?

Jun 8, 2010As I was updating my N900 to the newest firmware, my computer crashed (not because of the install, I was running other hardware intencive programs.) and I'm 100% sure it wasn't finished installing the firmware when it had crashed.
But when my computer crashed the phone seemed to running normally and when it was finished installing it worked fine. Is it possible that it didn't finish?Either way just to be on the safe side, how do I reinstall the update to be 100%?
Nokia :: N900 - Cannot Setup Messaging?
Jan 31, 2010Just got my N900, trying to setup Nokia Messaging (which works on my E71). Installed the latest update OK. I'm connected through Wifi OK. Mail - Setting - Choose Region - Choose Nokia Messaging, Enter account details - all correct. But then the next screen shows the normal settings for a POP3 or IMAP Account, asking for port numbers etc.

Mar 29, 2010I bought a N900 from UAE last week and I am using it in Surat, Gujarat, all works fine but I am not able to find nokia messaging to configure email accounts and also I am not able to connect any widgets or messenger( msn, gmail, yahoo) on the phone. Only I am able to browse internet on the maemo browser and firefox which I installed later. Please give me any tips or tricks how can I get it up and working. As even if I try to configure the default email account of hotmail or gmail, it is configured quickly but cannot send receive emails in the inbox. Just gets the error message " could connect to imap and or server proxy port number is wrong. Tried all I could from the help of service providers, but no luck as they are all totally unaware of any settings regarding this phone in India. Please people help me with this..

Jan 15, 2010I'm using Nokia Messaging with my new N900 but the problem that I will comment it already happen with old N97. Seems a problem with Yahoo accounts and Nokia Messaging.
I have a Nokia Messaging account that I created during the first appear of Nokia Messaging service and now with Movistar Spain subscription. In my account I have 2 Google Mail Accounts (Normal and Apps), a MobileMe account and Yahoo IMAP (spanish address) account.
All the accounts work correctly except Yahoo account. What happen? That I have emails in the inbox of mail mobile 3 days old, the old emails from third day suddenly became unreaded, I open to read, and are marked as read, but after some time (30min, 1hour) or some time like this became unreaded suddenly. For example today some emails, in the case of today 15 emails from 13th of january became unread again again and again.
It's annoying because with this behaviour there's no way to know how really new emails you have and also for every time the email is marked as unread the mobile spend time and battery notifying me. There's someone else that has this problem? Any propose or solution?
I try to delete the Yahoo account in my Nokia Messaging account and create a new one with the address, but the problem come back again and again. A solution could be to classify all the email every day in folders keeping my Inbox of Yahoo account in server clean, but there's some day that I have no time to do this work.

Pretty much like BlackBerry, albeit in that case all data go through their servers.
If all connections go through your provider's APN, how would Nokia know whether you're connected to Nokia Messaging or to some other server? All data exchange simply count towards your internet bundle, regardless if you use it for mail, internet browsing or whatever else you want to do, doesn't it?

Aug 5, 2010got today an update and since than i am not able to open any email anymore.if i open the email it just closes the whole programm. So not having any emails on the phone anymore this 5800 is not useable anymore for me.

Apr 9, 2010Using E71 on latest firmware 400.xxx, Nokia Messaging application does not synchronize my mail accounts automatically. Tried various settings under "when to sync" with no luck e.g. days: sunday trough to suturday, sync all day, all hours, always sync etc. However the manual synchronization works just fine. So hope someone can help at least with how to attempt troubleshoot this issue. If not with solution, as having email that one needs to sync manually is totally pointless.

Jul 23, 2010Installed Nokia Messaging 10,2,0,26 and did setup 2 accounts (Gmail & POP3).
- from the phone I have forced to restore settings from the server.
- phone starts syncing, and downloads correctly Gmail headers
- nothing happens, as for the POP3 account
So, I have deleted and re-created the POP3 account 3 times, still no email incoming.
Nokia :: Virgin Email - Setting Up Messaging
Jan 9, 2010I am trying to set up my outbound mail on Nolia Messaging with my mail provider, Virgin. I have found that when I synch the mailbox, the previoulsy read mail disappears. Virgin have recommended that the email address is prefixed with Recent: e.g recent:username@virgin.net. The problem with this is that the Virgin SMTP server does not recognise the email address when Recent is added and the outbound emails are not sent. I have tried using the T-Mobile SMTP server settings using the Nokia messaging portall by adding smtp.t-email.co.uk but this is not accepted when adding it into the server details. Anybody got any ideas - I am going crazy and being bounced between Nokia, T-Mobile and Virgin.

Feb 22, 2010I am unable to add my Yahoo email account using the Nokia Messaging Mobile Email <https://netac72.vie.hosting.nokia.com/account/home.action> I was able to use it before and I canceled my subscription in yahoo because I signed up a new subscription using my Gmail account and it works with the Gmail. however, when I try to add another email account again which is my yahoo mail, it won't work with my yahoo mail anymore. Where using the Nokia Messaging you can add up to 10 email accounts. When I click the button that says ADD ANOTHER, it will lead you to the page where you ad your other email accounts and that email add must already exist, but after i fill up the box typing the correct existing yahoo email add, my correct yahoo password, and after clicking NEXT button, it just doesn't get across. the error shows "This email address must be added on the phone". So, i added my yahoo mail on my phone using the Email setting wizard on my Nokia E72 with the correct email ad and password. After adding it on my phone, I tried to do it again on the Nokia messaging Site and did it all over agin. And still it won't work on my yahoo. I still get the same ERROR!

Mar 30, 2010I have recently downloaded the new version of Nokia Messaging for the E71. My principal problem: It successfully installs, although when I setup an email - it gets placed in the messaging folder. It does not look anything like the image attached. Rather, I access my email through the messaging / SMS folder directory. The version of Nokia Messaging is 9.07 from the messaging.nokia.com website. Has anyone had success in setting up the email client?
I have tried several setting, and changed my default email setting to "Nokia Messaging". Furthermore, when I select the "@" icon for Nokia Messaging (Not the Install Icon) - I am asked for a password? What password would that be? I am slightly lost? Any pointers. Right Now, we are ready to just uninstall the Messaging Client completely.

I did a clean install and when ever I try to add email accounts its automatically taking IMAP or POP3 setup and not prompting me to use Nokia Messaging Service to send/receive email.IMAP / POP3 is fast but uses lots of data compared to Nokia Messaging Service (which is free from my provider and will not count towards data usage). I started noticing this problem since yesterday afternoon.
