I have two email accounts set up on my 920. When I press the tile for either of these or for text messaging the screen flips like it is about to launch and then goes back to the home screen. Email and text are obviously fairly important.
View 8 RepliesI started with an intermittent text receiving issue a couple of days ago. Text will work fine, then they stop. After the that the only way to get them working again is a reboot. Called VZW, they ran tests on their side, etc. I'm thinking this is on the phone side.
This morning, the text app is giving me the "resuming" msg. and also started crashing. Also some other apps are crashing like looking at pictures.
Seems like a hard reset is needed here? I'm out of town, won't be back for 2 weeks. Need the phone to work, so if I hard reset, will I be in a need of a wifi to get the phone operational again?
My newly purchased (yet going to be exchanged) 950 is glitchy at best; but I do not know why Settings > System > Messaging, and turn on Text backup is not showing as an option on my phone. The software is up to date.I am swtiching back to the preferable windows 8.1 (Lumia 640) but I would like to have all the new texts that accumulated on the 950. How to backup new text messages. I have to return the 950 back to AT&T by Friday, Dec 18 to avoid paying for something I will never use. Not want to do a factory reset as I will lose what I am trying to maintain.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI think this has been happening ever since the first release of 8.1. Basically if the phone sleeps while a messaging conversation is open, when I wake and unlock the phone, there will often be random gibberish in the compose field. So if I want to send a message, I first have to erase the gibberish.
idk, it's just weird and annoying and I can't figure out what's causing it. My best guess is that it has something to do with typing in the pin code to unlock the phone... which I just realized I should try and test with and without having to type in the pin.

Today suddenly both Messaging and Contacts became virtually unuseable. Both kept crashing and the device was getting through it battery really fast and getting hot. I tried to figure out what was wrong however as i had not installed any apps for a few days i could not see any reason for this sudden change.
I defaulted the device and started again, I have just got everying back and its started again.
When opening Messaging it wil be really slow - when typing the message its slow and you have to wait for the text to catch up.
When you go to dial a number it tries to query the number you are dialing against contacts - it keeps crashing and closing Contacts.
If you turn off WiFi and mobile data it seems to be better but still crashes from time to time.
I have selected to sync my contacts from Facebook and Exchange email however currently my contacts are empty.
Despite this I received an SMS from a Facebook contact and it displays their name in Messaging - but they are not there in contacts...
With Wifi truned on the device seems to be getting really hot.
I cannot open onenote app on my Nokia Lumia 920 and there is no way to delete an reinstall it.

And every time I try to send a message, it keeps saying "Unfortunately, messaging has stopped," and takes me back to the messaging screen where I can see all the messages I have. The text I tried to send then says its still sending and I have to try two or three times before it will work. I deleted nearly all of my apps, turned my phone off and on again, and deleted nearly all of my messages. It just now started doing this and is beyond frustrating. I do not know what to do. I couldn't find any other people with this same problem. What do I do?
View 1 Replies View RelatedA few weeks ago, seemingly out of the blue, by stock messaging app lost the ability to send pictures. Suddenly every time I sent a picture message I would receive the "Unfortunately, the Messaging app has stopped responding" error. My phone also stopped being able to receive pictures as well. I can't figure out what exactly changed that caused this issue, or if this is a common bug or completely isolated incident.

I use Total Call Blocking with my carrier so that when I call anyone my number is automatically blocked / restricted. Therefore, in my contact list, I have my friends or family contacts listed with the *82 in front of the number to unblock for those people. This works fine for phone calls.
However, on Text Messaging / Picture Messaging, the *82 will cause these messages to fail. I am used to LG phones, you have the ability to edit the number while creating a message, before your send one of these messages. The problem I am having is when I send a Text Message / Picture Message it appears from the blackberry as only the 10 digit number (even though the contact has *82 in front of it)...and the message shows it is sent (with the check mark) but it NEVER received.
Recently I've upgraded my SE Xperia mini pro to Android Icecream Sandwich 4.0.After upgrading I'm facing issue with Inbuilt Messaging application.It immediately clears all my messages, thereafter all messages appears back some time later .Even problem appearing in 3rd Party - PANSI Messaging application too.I've grouped my messages in folders other than to keep all in Inbox.This immediately removes all messages from folders and sits all in INBOX which is very time consuming for grouping again n again.

However, the app (I guess) posts idle status messages to my Facebook timeline in every 1-2 hours. An example message:"I've been away since 15:37."I have now 9 messages like this since yesterday.I went through all the settings but could not find how to stop this. I disabled the Microsoft application within Facebook but then you can't chat and won't get the updates.

Pretty much like BlackBerry, albeit in that case all data go through their servers.
If all connections go through your provider's APN, how would Nokia know whether you're connected to Nokia Messaging or to some other server? All data exchange simply count towards your internet bundle, regardless if you use it for mail, internet browsing or whatever else you want to do, doesn't it?
got today an update and since than i am not able to open any email anymore.if i open the email it just closes the whole programm. So not having any emails on the phone anymore this 5800 is not useable anymore for me.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've recently bought a nokia 820 and am having trouble with the messaging app. In my settings-ringtones+sounds, I've got the ringer on, and the new text or IM set to a sound, the 'play a sound for' everything is checked. However when I receive an SMS neither the messaging live tile updates to reflect this, nor does any sound alert me. The phone is set to ring+vibrate, is there somewhere else I'm not checking?

Tried various settings under "when to sync" with no luck e.g. days: sunday trough to suturday, sync all day, all hours, always sync etc. However the manual synchronization works just fine. So hope someone can help at least with how to attempt troubleshoot this issue. If not with solution, as having email that one needs to sync manually is totally pointless.

Now every time I open up the email widget, it keeps asking me for my password and says login unsuccessful when I enter the password and try to login.Just an hour earlier, it was working fine.
By the way, I'm in Vancouver, Canada.
