Lumia 950 :: Messaging And Turn On Text Backup Not An Option
Dec 17, 2015
My newly purchased (yet going to be exchanged) 950 is glitchy at best; but I do not know why Settings  > System  > Messaging, and turn on Text backup is not showing as an option on my phone. The software is up to date.I am swtiching back to the preferable windows 8.1 (Lumia 640) but I would like to have all the new texts that accumulated on the 950. How to backup new text messages. I have to return the 950 back to AT&T by Friday, Dec 18 to avoid paying for something I will never use. Not want to do a factory reset as I will lose what I am trying to maintain.
Unless I am in Ultra Power Saving mode, the only options I get for text messages are Delete and Copy Text. I don't get the other options such as Forward.
my Samsung Omnia phone no longer has the option to send or receive text messages. I know it may sound strange, but when I go into the messaging option to send a message the only options that are there are my email options to either send an email message or create a new email account.
On my L930 (10586), I was able to go to the Messaging app and send a text to someone via Skype. That is, at the top right, there was a drop-down to select "SIM" or "Skype".
Now, it just says "SIM Text" and "No SIM", which I'm guessing means the missing SIM 2.
Is this another Dual-SIM thing (like VMM appears to not work with Dual-SIM phones) or am I doing sing wrong?
I have not yet gotten ahold of a Lumia 950 but plan to do so in the fairly near future. I've been reading this forum and find various comments about whether or not to restore from a WM 8.1 backup. My current phone is a Lumia 1020 running Denim.
My question is for those who have recommended a fresh install rather than a restore from backup. Are you referring only to the "Apps and Settings" backup and not the "text messages" backup?
My 4S will not give me the option to turn on icloud to back up my device. I went to settings: icloud: storage and back up: backup. The bae is not highlighted and I can not turn on Icloud backup. Is there any other ways to back up my phone so I can transfer data to new phone. iPhone 4S, iOS 8.1
how to turn off text messaging on the phone? We are leaving the country, taking my phone, and don't want to get charged for text messages coming through.
I have a blackberry bold 9700. All of a sudden ( i'm sure i accidently did something) all my text and email messages a being read aloud. How do i turn this function off??
My Lumia 920's Skydrive Storage Options (Settings -> Backup -> Photos) doesn't show "Photos + Videos" like everyone else I read about, and when I click through on that, it only shows 2 options
* Don't Upload * Upload (may use data plan)
There's no "Original size" and the entire "Videos" section is missing.I've made sure my wifi is set up and working, and my skydrive is all operational - when I "sake to skydrive" from the photo app, that uploads fullsize no problem.
I have two email accounts set up on my 920. When I press the tile for either of these or for text messaging the screen flips like it is about to launch and then goes back to the home screen. Email and text are obviously fairly important.
how on earth I turn off the autocorrect word thing in messaging?I like the word suggestion line but I don't want it to auto-correct my words in the message.I can't seem to find anything in the Settings to do it.I have updated my phone this very morning to get the latest firmware so it's not that.
When I take pictures on my Lumia 1520 they come out crystal clear and with great quality. But as soon as I try to send the picture via text messaging to friends or family the pictures are distorted and/ or very small. I've looked through my settings to see if I could simply change the picture settings,
have just received my new Nokia lumia 800.I love it so far but want to see how the battery does before I decide whether to keep it or not. However, not sure if I am missing something but there doesn't seem to be an option to turn 3g on and off under mobile networks and I can't figure out how else to do it.
I think this has been happening ever since the first release of 8.1. Basically if the phone sleeps while a messaging conversation is open, when I wake and unlock the phone, there will often be random gibberish in the compose field. So if I want to send a message, I first have to erase the gibberish.
idk, it's just weird and annoying and I can't figure out what's causing it. My best guess is that it has something to do with typing in the pin code to unlock the phone... which I just realized I should try and test with and without having to type in the pin.
I used to have a Nokia N8 and used Nokia suite to backup (and when needed restore!) SMS Text message on my phone to my PC. How do you do that with the Lumia 920. I don't mind backing up to the cloud if I can't backup to my PC but I just can't seem to find a backup option.
I have an unusual issue I would like some assistance on since I just got a blackberry, I have the Curve 2 8530. I use Total Call Blocking with my carrier so that when I call anyone my number is automatically blocked / restricted. Therefore, in my contact list, I have my friends or family contacts listed with the *82 in front of the number to unblock for those people. This works fine for phone calls.
However, on Text Messaging / Picture Messaging, the *82 will cause these messages to fail. I am used to LG phones, you have the ability to edit the number while creating a message, before your send one of these messages. The problem I am having is when I send a Text Message / Picture Message it appears from the blackberry as only the 10 digit number (even though the contact has *82 in front of it)...and the message shows it is sent (with the check mark) but it NEVER received.
My iphone asked if I wanted to update and I hit yes. It said to plug into ITunes so I did. My only option is to "restore". It didn't ask if I want to backup first.I don't have service on phone and I don't want to restore. How can I go back to "not" restoring?
When the phone is locked and I recieved a text, the message is readable. How do I make so that it would just say you have a message and not display what the person wrote in the message?
Okay, I got a new Blackberry Curve 8530, and it's the first Blackberry I've had. I changed the style of my SMS messaging from bubbles to stripes, and now it won't change back. I can go into the options, and change it and save the changes, but it stays the same. It will even say that it's set to bubbles, but it doesn't change the look of it. I know it's not a huge deal, but it bothers me, and I was wondering if it's a user error, or something is up with my Blackberry.
I recently purchased Xperia Neo V, while my cousin was browsing the phone, I think he accidentally deleted the message icon. But when I checked, the messaging option itself was completely gone. When I click on messaging - "What's app"is opening and asking for internet connection. I don't get any alerts/ tones for messages - & there is nothing available in settings/ widgets/ apps mentioning anything about messaging. Also in the timescape widget, I am able to see some message but after 10 secs or so notification comes - "messaging failed".
My 'backup and restore' app won't back up my text messages... it backs up the other things on the list for example the contacts, call logs, brower history etc. I would like to save the messages before I update my phone.Or unless there is another way of saving my messages, i.e. saving them onto a pc or something.I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro.
After reading all this threads about different issues with Nokia, here are my problems with the new Belle:
1st - the backup during installation DID NOT saved setting on my phone so I had to remake them all over again. The explanation I came up with is the new OS etc.
2nd - there is no option to see messaging as in normal view with inbox, Sent items, Delivery reports etc. Everything is shown as in conversation thus I can't personalize my view. Meanwhile there is still option in settings to receive delivery report which I can not see because it is not shown in conversation window. After some time I choose to restore factory settings and get back to Anna. Imagine my surprise when after rebooting the new OS was still on and this is NOT my original software.
3rd there are some other "small" but annoying changes, one of them is the fact I can not switch to battery saving anymore, can not use fast change of profile, if I don't have gadget for clock (and I don't) I need to go through menu in order to change alarm or time.
Basically I want to know is there a way to downgrade to a previous OS or should I bring my phone to the service?
