When the phone is locked and I recieved a text, the message is readable. How do I make so that it would just say you have a message and not display what the person wrote in the message?

How do I make this stop?I don't text a lot so I don't have unlimited texts on my account. Kind of annoying to have to delete texts as well as the fact that it's eating my monthly text allotment. I have been through every options menu and have not located anything that addresses this.

View 24 Replies View RelatedMy newly purchased (yet going to be exchanged) 950 is glitchy at best; but I do not know why Settings  > System  > Messaging, and turn on Text backup is not showing as an option on my phone. The software is up to date.I am swtiching back to the preferable windows 8.1 (Lumia 640) but I would like to have all the new texts that accumulated on the 950. How to backup new text messages. I have to return the 950 back to AT&T by Friday, Dec 18 to avoid paying for something I will never use. Not want to do a factory reset as I will lose what I am trying to maintain.

If I get a notification and don't check my phone before it disappears then I have no way of knowing what notification I got (short of scanning my homepage, which doesn't help for apps I don't have pinned, as the icons on the app list don't show notification indicators).Alternatively I'd accept being able to disable the timeout on the notification so it doesn't disappear and stacks with other notification on the lock screen.As a last resort being able to make notifications like old school popups would do. The vibration mode works fine for me (both call and message notifications vibrate only), but sound notification for text messages when I am in the middle of something. I'm very use to use the always on display clock to check time and missed calls/messages. I found this very useful during night etc. It's not necessary to always unlock the phone... I know WP7.5 missed this feature but what about Lumia WP8? If this has still not been implemented, it's very step backwards for Nokia. I thing lot of customers are used to this function...

With the 2220, when I receive a text I have set the tone I want however I cannot find if this phone will allow the tone to sound after every two minutes. All my previous phones have had this facility which I like as if you don't hear the notification sound at first it alerts you every two minutes.Is it just this phone or are all Nokia's like this?
I have two problems with my Lumia 710
1. Recurring appointment in calender is without sound notification. Only the first event had sound.
2. When I select picture from camera roll, auto-fix it and save, it doesn´t show up in saved pictures folder. This worked great couple of months or weeks ago, not anymore.
My Lumia 610 doesn't display notification (unread messages) for outlook when the screen is locked. However it does display the notification such as missed calls, text messages, face book messages, Gmails, Yahoo emails, Windows live emails. But nothing for Outlook.

I tried plugging the phone into the wall in case the battery was dead. I tried calling the phone. I bought a new Nokia Lumia 800. I noticed that despite turning off vibration, the phone vibrates each time the back key (<-) is pressed. Is there any way to turn this off. i believe this could save a lot of battery.Also how do we completely close an application in Lumia 800? I opened a page in IE. pressed back key. Then pressed and held back key to find there is no active application or IE running. However, when i open IE next time, I see the previous page has been loaded and it has been active all this time which could have been eating in to my data usage as well as battery charge.
