Motorola Photon 4G :: Only 30 Days' Email Sync?
Dec 22, 2011I just activated a Photon and I think I made a huge mistake. The email client only syncs 30 days' worth of email? There's no way to sync older messages? I don't keep much in my inbox but I do keep messages older than 30 days and I need to go back to them from time to time.I suppose the obvious workaround is to use a 3rd party mail program, but please let me know if there is a workaround. I was stunned to see this limitation.

Jul 3, 2012Is text messaging. If I try to send an outgoing text at the same time that one is incoming it will not send the outgoing message. It will struggle for about 30 seconds to 1 minute (or even more) and eventually time out with a 'text was not sent' error message. For someone like me who sends thousands of texts a month it's the most annoying thing ever! Other phones do not have this problem.
Also the time stamp for texts does not work if the phone is powered off. For example: I turn my phone off at midnight and someone sends me a text at 1:00 AM. I turn my phone back on at 8AM. The text arrives but does not have the correct time stamp as being sent at 1:00 AM. It will be shown as 8AM. So I have no idea what time the message was actually sent. Once again other phones I have used did not have this problem.

Oct 15, 2011I have searched numerous other posts in these forums and have found no solution since most answers lead to getting into the settings of the phone... So let me clarify early... I CANT EVEN GET PASSED THE "NOW" SCREEN.... SOMETIMES IT DOES BUT IT STAYS ON THE "STARTING SERVICES" WITH THE WHEEL SPINNING BUT NEVER GETS TO THE HOME PAGE.. IT SAYS THAT ACTIVITY "STARTING SERVICES" IS HAVING TROUBLE.. FORCE CLOSE? THEN I PULL THE BATTERY OUT AND DO THIS AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN...ETC.

Oct 20, 2011Its been a whole day not sure whats goin on i didnt acually realize it was happening untill a friend came over.I was sending texts out to family and friends but never getting any back which i though was weird but didn't think much of it maybe everone i sent one to was busy...unlikely.So my buddy came by and said he has been texting me back all day several times and i never awnsered just kept sayin whats up or you gettin my text lol.
I thought trying to update might solve the problem so i went to update my profile and prl and as soon as i hit update profile they all started coming in at once had tons of them. but now they dont come when people send them they all come together 15 or 20 minutes after they have wrote me back whats the deal.

Jan 26, 2012I've had my Photon for about six months, and lately it has been acting possessed. It will freeze on the Motorola logo, as though it has restarted itself. Sometimes it will restart itself completely. Sometimes it will turn itself off a few minutes after I unplug it in the morning. I've been getting 24 hour delays with incoming text messages* (yet I can still make calls and send texts, browse the web, etc). If I pop out the battery and put it back in again, it will work fine for a few days and then the problems start all over again.Yes, I have power-cycled it. That is the first thing I did. And second. And fifth.

Sep 1, 2011Yesterday I realized that my phone was not receiving incoming texts or phone calls. I power cycled my phone and several texts from the last 1 1/2 days came through. My phone also started to work again. Has this happened to anyone else? Again this phone has a problem with its most basic function.

Nov 1, 2011Had this phone a little over a month now and notice that sometimes when someone sends me a text that comes in 2 parts because of the length of it, I will receive the 2nd part of the message first (out of order). Now this isn't so bad as long as the first part comes in so I can read the whole message. However I have had at least 3 situations where I only received the 2nd part of the message and never received the first part. So I had to ask the senders to resend the message over again. Now this could be a network issue and nothing to do with the phone but I don't recall this ever happening on any other phone I have used.

Mine seems to hang at night (seemingly about 20min after I plug it in for charging) and stays on yesterdays date and time until somehow it corrects itself the next day. There is no way to "activate it" or make it correct itself. All other clocks and calendars are correct.

Jan 9, 2012I have a major issue with my corporate exchange calendar. If I accept an invitation to a meeting, the phone makes me the organizer of the meeting. This syncs back to my corporate calendar. This is obviously completely wrong. If I delete the meeting on my phone, or on my computer, it sends out a message to everyone that was on the meeting saying that it was cancelled. If I need to adjust the meeting only on my calendar, it sends out an update to everyone. It has caused a lot of confusion for me and my work colleagues.

Oct 28, 2011Has anyone seen / experienced this? When I have my photon in the car dock and using the GPS, I am unable to receive incoming calls. My girlfriend has called me for the past three days and she says my phone rings and rings and goes to voicemail. I have Sprint Service. I am not using TeleNav or any other navagation, I am just using the GPS mode and Bluetooth is also running. I dont have any other issues with not receiving incoming calls unless its in the dock.

I did a full factory reset about a month ago. the last couple of days the phone has been freezing with the alarm. the alarm will go off and I might get one or two snoozes out of it then the display freezes and is unresponsive. O can push the power button to get the power off menu but the screen will not respond to allow a power off, I must remove the battery to reset the phone.and as anyone who has a Photon knows how much fun putting the back on is. Any ideas.again this is a pretty fresh reboot and I do not have near as many apps running as before the reboot

Sep 16, 2011Anyone used or using Drive First?I installed it, was using it, but just too much for me, I already use a car dock, motospeak and bluetooth.(Yes, trying to be safe).It just does not intrgrate well with Google Voice.Anyway, it seemed to install an app when I signed up for it, the app is called Smart Device Manager.After cancelling Drive First it continues to lock my screen when the car moves.I figured out which app is is, but the only available option is "uninstall updates" and it keeps wanting to re-update the app after I uninstalled updates. I have uninstalled updates and reinstalled a few times, but it seems that app is dug in there, and won't leave.Because Sprint customer service has NO CLUE (after 4 reps) how the app works, or how to get rid of it?

I am wondering if anyone else has been having their Droid 3 reboot randomly for no reason at all? I have never had this issue, but for the last 3 days, it's been happening over and over. It happened 3 times yesterday, 2 the day before, and now the second time today.
I don't know if this was even an issue for anyone since this device has apparently had more issues than most, and I've been spared from the majority of them.
Motorola XPRT :: Cannot Send / Receive Email After 5 Days Of Trying
Jun 26, 2011this is honestly the worst phone I have ever owned. I had a blackberry that about a month ago stopped getting about half the emails I should have gotten. After a month of talking with IT about this and trying all kinds of fixes I gave up and decided to get and android phone to bypass the blackberry servers I assumed were the culprit. Well I am going to return this phone tomorrow and use my blackberry again. Yes, after 5 days of trying ever possible setting I have given up. I had the emails working for about 5 minutes and then after setting up a gmail account they stopped. I did a reset on the phone thinking this would help. Nope. And today mysteriously my old gmail account showed up even though I never set it up. Google is evil. And this phone is a piece of crap.
One of the big problems with this phone are the additional security settings under the advanced settings for incoming and outgoing servers. Out of about 10 Motrola IT people I talked to on the phone or chatted with had no idea what these were. I kept asking if they were for SSL and no one knew. Then yesterday I was told by the only intelligent person they are an additional secruity password you can get from your ISP and are similar to SSL keys. I had them checked (the port numbers will automatically change) the first time I had the phone working. But unchecked them and was able to sent two emails to my own email address and yet received no other emails yesterday as a test. Today I tried to send myself another email and it didn't go through though it appeared on my desktop.

Jul 15, 2011I recently switched form the BB Tour to the XPTR as it was the only other World phone option.The claim is Droid does business but I'm not sold on this yet.Spite the menu the push feature has a mind of its own.Is it really possible that this is the only Droid phone which limited exchange mail to 14-days.Please comment if you have the same issue or know of an external mail app that has better functionality with Exchange 2007/2010.
