Motorola XPRT :: Cannot Send / Receive Email After 5 Days Of Trying
Jun 26, 2011
this is honestly the worst phone I have ever owned. I had a blackberry that about a month ago stopped getting about half the emails I should have gotten. After a month of talking with IT about this and trying all kinds of fixes I gave up and decided to get and android phone to bypass the blackberry servers I assumed were the culprit. Well I am going to return this phone tomorrow and use my blackberry again. Yes, after 5 days of trying ever possible setting I have given up. I had the emails working for about 5 minutes and then after setting up a gmail account they stopped. I did a reset on the phone thinking this would help. Nope. And today mysteriously my old gmail account showed up even though I never set it up. Google is evil. And this phone is a piece of crap.
One of the big problems with this phone are the additional security settings under the advanced settings for incoming and outgoing servers. Out of about 10 Motrola IT people I talked to on the phone or chatted with had no idea what these were. I kept asking if they were for SSL and no one knew. Then yesterday I was told by the only intelligent person they are an additional secruity password you can get from your ISP and are similar to SSL keys. I had them checked (the port numbers will automatically change) the first time I had the phone working. But unchecked them and was able to sent two emails to my own email address and yet received no other emails yesterday as a test. Today I tried to send myself another email and it didn't go through though it appeared on my desktop.
I recently switched form the BB Tour to the XPTR as it was the only other World phone option. The claim is Droid does business but I'm not sold on this yet.Spite the menu the push feature has a mind of its own.Is it really possible that this is the only Droid phone which limited exchange mail to 14-days.Please comment if you have the same issue or know of an external mail app that has better functionality with Exchange 2007/2010.
My Blackberry Torch 9800 is unable to access or send emails nor can i access email settings. The problem started 3-days ago. Rebooting makes no difference. Why would this suddenly start happening?
I just realized that as of April 19, I have not been able to send anything on my Outlook Exchange email accoutn. It's receiving just fine, but my Outbox is full of unsent mail! I remember a problem we had in the past with not being able to reply to messsages, but these are both replies and new messages. My settings are all exactly the same as my DroidX phone, which sends just fine. I have a command at the top of my Outbox that says "Send All Messages," but it doesn't do anything.I've rebooted a couple of times, with no change.
I just activated a Photon and I think I made a huge mistake. The email client only syncs 30 days' worth of email? There's no way to sync older messages? I don't keep much in my inbox but I do keep messages older than 30 days and I need to go back to them from time to time.I suppose the obvious workaround is to use a 3rd party mail program, but please let me know if there is a workaround. I was stunned to see this limitation.
Is there a way to adjust/add to the auto-correct dictionary for the physical keyboard of the XPRT? On my SOLD BB9650, this was done the first time I picked up the phone. Now, I can't. This phone (while waiting for Gingerbread), would be THE BEST, if it could fix this little problem...
My applications are not working properly. This problem started about 3 days ago. I tried typying up an email and it froze. The text messaging application froze as well after I typed two words. I wasn't able to press send because the box that says that the application is not working came up. The same thing happens with the calendar application.
I am unable to connect to my e-mail over the past two days. I keep getting a connection error message prompt (unable to connect to optonline.net)I tried to reboot etc but keep getting same error message.
I don't get the choice of the gmail app versus the email app.
If I use gmail, I get notifications but I can't use the Messages Widget and the Universal Inbox (or I can't seem to set it up).
If I use email, I get notifications and I can use the Messages Widget and access to the Universal Inbox The manual appears to favor email over gmail, but its not entirely clear. The example the manual gives of sending an email is using the universal inbox.
I did set up the same account using gmail and email, and it seemed redundant. While the message app and the universal inbox worked, I would get double icon notifications. So, is there any clear choice here, on the gmail app versus the email app?
Recently i've been having problems with the email that i've set up on my phone. I can send email but cannot receive it.I have a blackberry 8330 curve and am with verizon with V4.5.0.I've been reading other posts on othere forums of people having the same issue but they didn't really help at all.I did the battery pull many many times.I just don't know what wrong with it. also my world app doesn't show any application installed. i can deal with that once i get my email to work..
What are the plans for future software updates for XPRT?Is Gingerbread going to be the last one? Any chance for 4.x?Because, see, as of today XPRT is lagging behind for like a year on Android updates. It was released (June 6, 2011) with outdated FroYo (released May 20, 2010).Now, if stars align, we'll get GB 2.3.5 update (released July 25, 2011) hopefully in August '12.And that also means that phone that's been out only for a year is already 2 major Android versions behind current one.
Having trouble connecting to my sbcglobal (managed by yahoo) email account all of a sudden. As of a few days ago, my new emails have not been appearing in my inbox even after refreshing. So I went into "my accounts" and into yahoo mail icon and deleted/reentered my password so I could connect. I kept getting error message "login to the account failed, please try again". So I then decided to completely remove the account under "my accounts" menu icon so that I can readd it. I then tried to readd it in two areas:
1. Under "email" menu icon I tried to re-setup the "yahoo mail" account- no luck, still received error message
2. Under "email" menu icon I tied to re-setup the "yahoo" account, chose already have a yahoo account, click sign in, enter my email address and password, check the "mail" and "sync" options, and then done. Nothing happens. So I go into the main menu option "my accounts"- I see my sbc account listed with the word sync under it. I go into it and it says it has been synced.Nothing has been updated. Prior to all this when I clicked the main menu "email" icon- my sbc/yahoo acct inbox pulled up automatically. Now when I click the "email" icon - I am prompted to setup an account from the services listed below: corporate sync, facebook, twitter, yahoo mail, yahoo, etc. I had my yahoo/sbc mail as my default account which is why when I previously clicked the "email" icon- my sbc/yahoo account inbox pulled up.I do not want to set up the yahoo droid application- I really want tp synch the account directly. How do I adjust the incoming/outgoing server settings on this phone. I see in other forums for similar issues that they can be adjusted. but where?
I am having email problems. I have several email accounts. I receive email on all of them, but can't send on all of them. Not even a reply. The email accounts that work are gmail and [URL]The accounts that don't send are: 1 account hosted by GoDaddy, and a few accounts on my 2 domains [URL] and [URL] all of these accounts work fine on my laptop via outlook 2007. The place that houses my 2 domains said they don't know why I am having this problem.
I just set up my yahoo email with the xprt. Once i did that, yahoo sent me an email if I want to share with MOTOBLUR. I don't want to share. what information did they get? How to avoid from sharing with MOTOBLUR?At work, I set my phone of vibrate. At times, I need to set it to silent. I can't seem to do that with the volume bottom. It only allowed me to set it to vibrate. It seems I would have to get into settings/sound to silent the phone.
Im sure its a simple issue that someone can sort for me ....I am able to receive email through my nokia n97 perfectly however I am unable to send email.

Nokia Email Messaging has been working ok for 3 months but has just stopped working, Have done all the normal stuff - soft reset , cancelled account and made a new account but I cant recieve or send any email at all. I have Gmail accounts , Yahoo and Ovi but none of them work.I have noticed when you go into settings for one of the accounts and look at the username and password for the Nokia Email Account , in the Password box it always shows `NONE` I have tried to put in my password several times but it always reverts to NONE. Is this correct? It seems it cant save the password ?
The only thing I havent tried is a hard reset but thats a last resort.
I got my blackberry curve 9300 and this morning received a message to let me know I am registered. I have registered my email address, (hotmail) and can send emails no problem. So far so good, except when I get a reply I get nothing on the blackberry but the replies are all in my hotmail inbox on my laptop. I have called geeks (carphone warehouse) and gurus at O2 and I have followed all their instructions. I managed to receive 1 email from my husband and then nothing since.
I just bought a Curve 9300 today. After updating my device from 5.0 to 6.0, getting all my apps up and running, i tried to send out an email and i got a red X. I went into email settings and sent the service books and that was no good. I reinstalled my O.S. and repeated the same process, and still no luck. My service providers technical support chat is closed right now and reopens tomorrow, so i'm on the support forum here to try to get some help from you guys. Can't send / receive email
My 8330 started acting up last night. Through my sprint.blackberry.net email I sent 5 to the same email address. I received the check mark stating they were sent successfully. 20 mins later or so my phone notifies me of a new email however there is not a new email, but now a red X in the email that just had the check mark. This happened multiple times. I tried resending the email and composing a new email and all scenarios were the same. Also, I was sent 4 emails last night from this same email address, none of which I received. I did 2 soft and 2 hard restarts throughout the course of the night nothing has changed. Does anyone know why this is happening or how to fix it? I had this happen one other time, and I was to the point of smashing my phone. Email through my phone is the only way I have contact with certain people so this feature is VERY important to me.
I just got my Torch back from being repaired from the track-pad not working.I first cleared anything that might of been on the phone and restored my back-up files to get all my addresses and applications into my phone.I know I have to reopen all the accounts applications I want to work. All my apps I have reinstalled work which I use and are all much needed tools, even up to my documents apps and PDF.I thought my email accounts would of come with the back-up which I reinstalled. I have 2 of each which I need for work, Windows Live, Yahoo and Gmail, but none of them are sending any mail I compose to send and I don't know why, or I may have forgotten not having my phone for so long. or am doing something wrong.
I noticed earlier this afternoon that none of my email (google apps gmail) is being pushed to my phone, though I can still send emails. The last one that came through was around midnight. I've seen a lot of posts about it here and elsewhere but no actual solution. I've resent the service books, deleted and re-added the account, multiple battery pulls, etc etc.
