When I tap on the camera to launch it, it would quickly flicker as if it were going to open but then immediately just go back to my home screen. "camera unable to initialize" error..I did a reboot and a factory reset it did NOT fix the issue. I am also unable to play any music.
View 15 RepliesJust had a one-off bug on the camera. Whenever I held down the camera button, it would sit for a while doing nothing, try to rotate to landscape for a split moment, and then come back with a floating error: camera is unable to initialize. I tried this many times.

About a week or two ago my camera stopped working--I'm not sure if it coincided with a recent software update, or my switching the storage option to the extrernal SD card or something else, but now when I click on the icon or press the camera button, the camera app launches, but stays black (no picture from the lens) and all the options stay greyed out. Sometimes it says the camera isn't responding and asks if I want to wait--sometimes it just goes straight to "Camera is unable to initialize" and then go back to the home screen.At one point at the start of these issues I had it set to the "chat camera" (the one facing the user)--however, as soon as I switched to the forward-facing camera it went blank. A couple times since then I've gotten an image on the screen like it started to receive a signal, but then it locked up again as normal.

I rebooted and got the camera to work but not when I press TuneIn Radio it does nothing. I seems like I need to constantly reboot the phone to get it to do anything. Earlier today I was unable to receive calls when the phone was in my pocket. I would take it out and the unlock bar wouldn't respond. I ended up getting a force to close message and this repeated multiple times, although I could call out. My wife keeps suggesting I take the phone back.

I have pulled the battery and cleared the data on the camera app and still nothing. I really dont feel like starting over with it but I can if I have to later.

I tried about 10x to open the camera, each with the same results. So, is this a bug?Obviously if I restart it should work again, but I'd still like to see this patched along with some other issues.If I try to open DroidLight, it immediately crashes as well, since the camera is listed as 'busy.'
The stock camera for my Motorola atrix 4g is not functioning. When I pull up the camera or even the camcorder. The screen is black. As if there is something blocking the lens. The camera overlays are present. The shutter button and zoom in and out keys. After awhile,I get an error message "Camera unable to initialize" I then have to force close. There is nothing blocking the lens. I thought it was a software issue. I've tried everything. Factory date reset twice. Tried different camera software, removed the battery,power cycles. Nothing works. Everything else functions properly. I've been scouring the internet for a solution. There is no solution, only complaints from other android users with the same issue. If the problem persists please power off phone. Well the problem always persists and I always have to power off my phone and turn it back on to get the camera working again. I've tried clearing out the data and the cache and it doesn't work.

I have to hit emergency call, then the PIN screen appears, then the emergency dialer appears, and I have to hit "back" and the PIN screen appears again. While the screen is black tapping on anything doesn't work except the silent slider. I have the button press developer option enabled for anyone who wonders why the dots are there. The face unlock had been working fine for several days.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI purchased my Photon at the end of September, and for the most part it has been the greatest phone I have ever used. That is, until my camera stopped working correctly! I launch the camera app, and the screen switches to landscape and the camera initializes, but it will not focus!! I have to tap the screen very hard and rapidly for it to force focus, and any situation other than bright daylight will not focus at all. The phone does not even make that little clicking noise that I think it made when going into camera mode, which I believe meant that the shutter is activating (right??).
This happened once before to me, and I took the phone to a Sprint store. The rep simply toggled the image resolution from 3mp to 5mp and back, and it worked. I then left the store feeling like a dope.....until the next week when it started happening again. Now, I've tried everything to get the camera to work again, but nothing.
Any way to turn off the camera/video shutter sound?

My old smart phone HTC HERO, was able to download from anywhere, not connected to a hot spot or wifi... I buy a phone that is supposed to be faster and better, but I'm not seeing it. I have only had the phone for 3 days, and i'm already starting to think I have made a bad decision. We do not have 4G in the area, but even 3G is faster then this phone.

I can view them just fine on my phone, but as soon as I move them over to my computer the images are all invalid and I can't view them anymore. I've only tried with pictures I took with the camera on my phone so I don't know if this applies to downloaded images as well.
I searched around the forum and it seems a couple of people ran into this or something similar to this but I haven't come across a definite solution that doesn't require me to go online with my phone.
I have attempted to register my new Photon Q numerous times, logging out, logging back in, and approaching from several different angles using different "Register" links on different pages, and trying MEID and IMEI.When using MEID HEX the server will check the S/N and reply that my IMEI S/N is in warranty, then several seconds later it will overlay the screen with a complaint from the server:"There was an issue with the serial number you entered or it was blank. Please try again."One can dismiss that complaint and continue with the attempted registration, selecting carrier, MFN, and Primary Device, adding purchase date and clicking submit, but that only take one to abject failure:"There has been an error with your request."Perhaps it is because the Photon Q is so new? Perhaps it is because your registration page has a problem.

When I move between home screens, these icons stay in place.Calculator, maps, iD & a square I touch to open my applications. I am trying to remove/delete the calculator icon but am having trouble doing so.Any other app I can hold, it vibrates & turns red and I just drag it to the trash can. These 4 icons at the bottom of the screen don't.
When I touch the calculator icon, the calculator opens. When I touch and hold the icon for the calculator, it opens a new window that says ADD TO DOCK
and lists programs/apps to add to the dock. No options to remove.
Again, I can not hold it down to drag it to the trash can.
know how I can remove this calc icon? Is this bottom row on my screen something special where apps permanently reside?
I used the Moto software to back up my phone yesterday, and since then it won't connect to wi-fi. It finds the signal, starts looking for an IP address, then stips the process. I've tried to turn off 3G and 4G, together and in combinations, updated PRL and profile, but to no avail. Even rebooted the router to make sure something wasn't wrong with it and other devices in the house are working just fine. Not sure if this has anything to do with the backup, but it's a problem I've never had before.

I receive this error regardless of if I try to enter it from the Accounts area or if I attempt to add through Gallery --> Settings--> Quick upload for pictures --> Add account --> Picasa (Gallery)
I have been able to add other social networking sites such as twitter and facebook. This is the only one that I have found to give me errors
Anyone having trouble sending mail? I have a POP 3 account with COX San Diego. I can recieve mail but I can NOT send mail. This phone does not have SSL. I tried 587 in the settings along with all of the other info, identical to the other phone ( EVO 4G) and my Outlook setting on my home PC (except for the 587 port) Home pc has 25 there.

1> I have tried using both domainusername and just username with no success.
2> Also have tried setting up gmail as corporate account and later changing to the desired account settings as suggested in other forums and it still shows the same error.
3> I have also tried unchecking "verify certificate"
My device is unable to detect any of the Bluetooth Headset. I have tried same with Nokia and Amkette bluetooth. Scanning does not list any of these bluetooth headeset.
