Motorola Atrix :: 4G Camera Won't Initialize

The stock camera for my Motorola atrix 4g is not functioning. When I pull up the camera or even the camcorder. The screen is black. As if there is something blocking the lens. The camera overlays are present. The shutter button and zoom in and out keys. After awhile,I get an error message "Camera unable to initialize" I then have to force close. There is nothing blocking the lens. I thought it was a software issue. I've tried everything. Factory date reset twice. Tried different camera software, removed the battery,power cycles. Nothing works. Everything else functions properly. I've been scouring the internet for a solution. There is no solution, only complaints from other android users with the same issue. I think it's a hardware issue. 4G Camera won't initialize

Just today at lunch I couldn't open my camera. I then powered my phone off and then on again and the camera was fine.

Basically the camera won't initialize to unlock the screen. I have to hit emergency call, then the PIN screen appears, then the emergency dialer appears, and I have to hit "back" and the PIN screen appears again. While the screen is black tapping on anything doesn't work except the silent slider. I have the button press developer option enabled for anyone who wonders why the dots are there. The face unlock had been working fine for several days.

About a week or two ago my camera stopped working--I'm not sure if it coincided with a recent software update, or my switching the storage option to the extrernal SD card or something else, but now when I click on the icon or press the camera button, the camera app launches, but stays black (no picture from the lens) and all the options stay greyed out. Sometimes it says the camera isn't responding and asks if I want to wait--sometimes it just goes straight to "Camera is unable to initialize" and then go back to the home screen.At one point at the start of these issues I had it set to the "chat camera" (the one facing the user)--however, as soon as I switched to the forward-facing camera it went blank. A couple times since then I've gotten an image on the screen like it started to receive a signal, but then it locked up again as normal.

I was playing TuneIn Radio and attempted to open the camera but received a "camera unable to initialize" error. I rebooted and got the camera to work but not when I press TuneIn Radio it does nothing. I seems like I need to constantly reboot the phone to get it to do anything. Earlier today I was unable to receive calls when the phone was in my pocket. I would take it out and the unlock bar wouldn't respond. I ended up getting a force to close message and this repeated multiple times, although I could call out. My wife keeps suggesting I take the phone back.

I try to open my camera on my Droid3 and it will either look like its going to load but then just have a black scree, or will just go back to the homescreen and show the message across the bottom of my phone "unable to initialize" tried restarting my phone a few times and still no luck. Really frustrating especially since I just got my phone about a month ago.

Just had a one-off bug on the camera. Whenever I held down the camera button, it would sit for a while doing nothing, try to rotate to landscape for a split moment, and then come back with a floating error: camera is unable to initialize. I tried this many times.

When I tap on the camera to launch it, it would quickly flicker as if it were going to open but then immediately just go back to my home screen. "camera unable to initialize" error..I did a reboot and a factory reset it did NOT fix the issue. I am also unable to play any music.

During the course of the day, at least once a day, sometimes more, for no reason at all, I'll get a notification on my Droid Turbo that the camera didn't initialize. If the problem persists please power off phone. Well the problem always persists and I always have to power off my phone and turn it back on to get the camera working again. I've tried clearing out the data and the cache and it doesn't work.

So I haven't had any trouble until now with my boinic. I took pictures saturday and I just tried to take one and this is what I got. "Camera is unable to initialize". I have pulled the battery and cleared the data on the camera app and still nothing. I really dont feel like starting over with it but I can if I have to later.

I tried about 10x to open the camera, each with the same results. So, is this a bug?Obviously if I restart it should work again, but I'd still like to see this patched along with some other issues.If I try to open DroidLight, it immediately crashes as well, since the camera is listed as 'busy.'

I've noticed that the voice input feature for text messaging (which I REALLY like!) sometimes appears to disable or something, all on its own, and when you attempt to utilize it again, it won't engage. Is there a toggle switch for this somewhere?

So today my phone got super hot. So hot that the screen on the top right corner got black und I received a warning that the phone is going into cool down mode. I shut it down and removed the battery to let it cool down.
But now the camera doen't work anymore and the screen stays black when I open a camera app.
Also, it still tends to get hot even when it is turned off and the battery is inserted.

I bought the Atrix 2 today.Initial thoughts, the screen looks really nice, the soft rubber back feels better then the Atrix 1. I got the same internet speeds as the Atrix 1. Camera button convenient though pressing it doesnt launch camera app. On the Atrix 2 internal memory isnt accessible, even hooking up to pc you cant browse it, so you need a SD card to put music and videos, etc on it.HDMI mirroring worked as expected. I think the MHL mirroring from the SGS2 was better quality though.

I've been using my Motorola Atrix for over 3 months without any problems. Very happy with this phone.After the last upgrate of Android (2.3.4), I started having problems with the camera. Sometimes, I get the following message:"Sorry! The application Camera (process com.motorola.Camera) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again".The only option is to click on "Force close". However, I can try as many times I want to run the camera app and I keep getting the same message, and not being able to use the camera at all. The only solution is to restart my cell phone which is very inconvinient.

I have a Droid Bionic and recently broke the camera glass cover. An online site is selling the Atrix 2 cover for $9 versus $35 for the whole Bionic assembly. What I don't know is the size of the atrix camera covering. The Bbionic looks to be about 7/16" square with slightly rounded corners.

I have a Motorola Atrix 4g on the Telstra Network (Australia). I recently updated from Android 2.3.2 to 2.3.4. Since then some of the settings in the Camera app have disappeared. Today may be the first time I attempted to transfer photos from my Atrix to the PC. I am running Windows 7 Pro-64bit. After connection via cable, I select USB Mass Storage for the USB connection. Windows throws up a box that asks "Do you want to scan and fix Removable Disk?" I select "continue without scanning. In Windows Explorer there appear to be far fewer folders on the card than when viewing in Astro, but I did not do an exhaustive check. Of immediate concern is that the Camera folder is not visible under DCIM, thus I can't retrieve my photos over the cable. Should I back up the card directly to the PC via microSD adapter then let Windows scan and fix next time over cable?

I called moto this morning and told them the phone is awesome, but the camera can't focus on anything, and the video is jerky. The customer service guy told me he is sending the problem up the latter and is confident that it will be addressed with the next firmware update. He said there were a few people having the same problem. I'm not ready to get rid of this phone, but the camera/video camera are not on the same level with other 8mp/1080 p recording devices.

Is there a way to take a screenshot without using a separate camera/phone? I.E. with the iPhone you press the power button and the home button and it'll take a screenshot of what is on your display wether you're looking at your homescreen or using an app.

My phone is constantly over heating (only when I am not using it) to the point it gets hot as a stove literally. And the bad thing is after the 5 overheat my Camera does not work any more which is a problem because the is my most used feature. My aunt said the reason it overheats is because its trying hard to look for signal. No mods, no root, only one sideloaded app.

By default, the Atrix uses the picture filename of "YYYY-MM-DD_hh-mm-ss_xxx.jpg" (example: "2011-08-01_09-16-12_123.jpg"). How can we change this to another filename mask, like "YYYY_MMDD_hhmmss xxx.jpg" (example: 2011_0801_091612 123.jpg) or any other format of our choosing?In addition, are there any other field masks that we can use beyond the YYY, MM and DD and time fields?

I can't find an option to change the resolution to a smaller size on the camera. The only option is widescren or 4:3. What if I want to use less space on my SD card when taking pictures?Is this something we can expect to see in the next software update?

My desktop manager is indicating an update and it's a core application that needs to be updated, every time I try to apply it, it downloads all the way to the end, and then when it states: Waiting for Device Initialization, my storm never does initialize ! even though it has always rebooted properly on previous updates, and then the update window just goes away and we're back to zero point.
