My desktop manager is indicating an update and it's a core application that needs to be updated, every time I try to apply it, it downloads all the way to the end, and then when it states: Waiting for Device Initialization, my storm never does initialize ! even though it has always rebooted properly on previous updates, and then the update window just goes away and we're back to zero point.
View 3 RepliesThis is my second BB 9000, and yet again, it's nuked. No accidents, good battery...just one morning it didn't want to switch on. The red light flashed for about 10 seconds, then switched off for 10 seconds. I replaced the battery with a new one...same result.Endless hours of research later:I did a battery pull several times. I then used App Loader to wipe the BB clean and install my carrier's OS (followed instructions on how to recover a nuked BB). Everything went fine until "Wait for device initialization", where it gets stuck and says "Application loader was unable to locate your device...click retry" .At this point, when the red light goes off, the screen comes on and displays the words "BlackBerry" with a progress bar underneath it...then after a couple of seconds, the screen goes off and the red light is back on again.
This loop continues indefinitely.I tried clicking "retry" countless times. I tried updating through BB Desktop Manager (latest version), it got stuck at the same point. I tried JL_Cmder...it won't locate the device on time before the screen goes off. I tried BBSAK, it won't locate the device period. I've even tried pulling and replacing the battery at different points in said loop.This is my second BB 9000 getting nuked. For no apparent reason
I already have blackberry desktop from my playbook. When I pug in my curve it opens and says its initiaizing but nothing happens. You can't exit or anything.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAbout a week or two ago my camera stopped working--I'm not sure if it coincided with a recent software update, or my switching the storage option to the extrernal SD card or something else, but now when I click on the icon or press the camera button, the camera app launches, but stays black (no picture from the lens) and all the options stay greyed out. Sometimes it says the camera isn't responding and asks if I want to wait--sometimes it just goes straight to "Camera is unable to initialize" and then go back to the home screen.At one point at the start of these issues I had it set to the "chat camera" (the one facing the user)--however, as soon as I switched to the forward-facing camera it went blank. A couple times since then I've gotten an image on the screen like it started to receive a signal, but then it locked up again as normal.

As if there is something blocking the lens. The camera overlays are present. The shutter button and zoom in and out keys. After awhile,I get an error message "Camera unable to initialize" I then have to force close. There is nothing blocking the lens. I thought it was a software issue. I've tried everything. I rebooted and got the camera to work but not when I press TuneIn Radio it does nothing. I seems like I need to constantly reboot the phone to get it to do anything. Earlier today I was unable to receive calls when the phone was in my pocket. I would take it out and the unlock bar wouldn't respond. I ended up getting a force to close message and this repeated multiple times, although I could call out. My wife keeps suggesting I take the phone back.

When I tap on the camera to launch it, it would quickly flicker as if it were going to open but then immediately just go back to my home screen. "camera unable to initialize" error..I did a reboot and a factory reset it did NOT fix the issue. I am also unable to play any music.

If the problem persists please power off phone. Well the problem always persists and I always have to power off my phone and turn it back on to get the camera working again. I tried about 10x to open the camera, each with the same results. So, is this a bug?Obviously if I restart it should work again, but I'd still like to see this patched along with some other issues.If I try to open DroidLight, it immediately crashes as well, since the camera is listed as 'busy.'
i'm having problems updating my device i've tried using the desktop mangager way but half way through it pops up with an error message saying ' an error has occured while downloading software for your device, please verify your internet connection or try again later, if this problem persisits' i've tried about 10 times now over a three day period and the same things happens everytime.
i'm currently runnung with 4.7.0.1818 but can update to the 5.0 version. i've also tried updating wirelessly but when i check for updates it pops up and says 'unable to send request for available updates'.
What does the OS 5.0.0.607 upgrade contain that the previous OS did not? I keep hearing that "607 is such a great OS", but no one has said why. Someone please detail all the things it changed from the previous OS. So far... I only see the destroyed apps I have now, and the one cool thing, the letter popping up above what is being pressed...

My Storm 1 crashed Sunday night with message on screen stating 'Reload Softwares 552'. I called Verizon Tech Support and they just ended up giving me a brand new Storm 2 for free! All I had to do was re-sign my contract for another two years. Gonna miss my Storm 1 but the Storm 2 is sweet! Just got it today. Anyone wanting to upgrade, try using that excuse.
