Motorola Droid X :: Error:"file Cannot Be Displayed Or Played"
Apr 22, 2011I get the above error whenever someone emails or sends me a download like for a video. Videos play fine otherwise. Just can't get them in email.

Motorola Droid X2 :: Video Player Error: File Cannot Be Displayed Or Played?
Jul 11, 2011I have several MP4 encoded movie files that played perfectly with my DX but won't play with the default Video Player app on my DX2. It gives me the error: File cannot be displayed or played.MoboPlayer, a third party video player, will play the files fine. QuickPic's player will not. Nor will the bundled app RockPlayer Lite.I reformatted the SD card within the DX2 (it was the same 16 GB card that I took from my DX) before I transferred any video files to it.Anyone have any ideas about what I can try? I would rather use the default Video Player app.Also, the playback using MoboPlayer seems a bit choppy. I was expecting much smoother playback on the DX2 with it's dual core processor and improved graphics accelerator hardware.

May 27, 2011I've been noticing my videos will not save properly after I record something. It doesn't happen with every video and I can't seem to replicate the problem at this time. I can shoot consecutive clips and one may save properly and the other will not save. When I go to my film strip, an icon will hold the spot of where the file should be. When I click on it, I get an error message reading, "File cannot be displayed or played."

Apr 17, 2011I have had the atrix since it came out with a 32gig sd card, I store all my videos/pictures on it. I have never had any problems. After the 4.1.57 updated I have been having issues. Im not blaming the update I dont know what is wrong but its somthing I did look into.I record Videos, and then my phone will not play themback, It will show a preview of the video but then say "file cannot be displayed or played". Sometimes it lets me watch the video at first, but then the next time i go to watch it I get that error and its for good i wont be allowed to watch the video again.As for the pictures, Ill take pictures and it will show a preview of the picture but it wont let me click it and view it . I do not get a error msg with the pictures, It just simply wont let me view the pictures. Transfer those files that i cant watch or view to my computer, and my computer says it doesnt reconize the file format. But then when I look at the file type of that file that isnt working with a file that does work on my computer, its the same exact file fromat so i dont understand that?
I at first did pull out my sdcard/sim/battery didnt solve the problem. so i did a factory reset and that still didnt fix the problem. I also tried to switch the videos/picture that isnt working onto my external space on my phone and I get the same deal. Im also allowed to play music just find off my sdcard, its only videos/pictures my phone is having problems with. This is very frusterating since I use my camera almost everyday, and my sons first birthday is coming up this saturday and i wanted to record it all and burn it to a dvd but that is starting to seem unlikey and this is very frusterating. I called motorola and Im told to call back monday to talk to a higher level tech when there open.

Apr 28, 2012I find that some AC3 formatted files can be played while others give me an error about needing an AC3 filter. I find this generally on the higher bitrate videos. For example one is ac3 @ 192k and it plays just fine while another is 640k and says i need an ac3 filter. to play any obviously ffdshow is installed and working to play any ac3. I am confused, I have mainly avi and mkv files.

Dec 15, 2012Using the stock File Manager app I can see audio files on my Maxx HD's internal storage and also on the SD card. I happen to be looking at ringtone files. If I tap on the filename to play the ringtone, Amazon Cloudplayer pops up and shows all the music files on my SD card. No ringtones can be found. If I back out of Amazon Cloudplayer and use the file manager to try finding and playing ANY audio file on EITHER my SD card or the internal storage I get sent to Amazon Cloudplayer. I then have to use the back button to get back to the file manager icon in the App drawer. Same thing happens if I try to play audio files on my SD card. Amazon Cloud Player pops up. I don't want to use Amazon Cloud Player to play an audio file in SD storage.
If I connect my phone to my PC and navigate to the ringtones on internal storage and click on them they play as per usual (Windows media player). If I use my PC to play audio files on the SD card they play as usual.Why does my phone default to Amazon Cloud Player when I tap on an audio file in File Manager? What is the stock audio file player on the Maxx HD? Why can't I browse to an audio file with the file manager and tap on it and have it play? How do I fix this?

Jul 3, 2012Since I upgraded to ICS, the names of businesses listed in my contacts have become scrambled. Proper names still display in the correct format (LAST NAME, FIRST NAME) as I want them to. However, business names are now split randomly. A few examples are listed below:Animal Emergency and Critical Care Center is incorectly displayed as "Center, Animal Emergency and Critical Care"Rush North Shore Medical Center is incorrectly displayed as "Center, Rush North Shore Medical"Kaufman's Deli is incorrectly displayed as "Deli, Kaufman's"My contact display option settings are the same as they were before the ICS upgrade:

My contacts are synchronized through Microsoft Exchange and are still correctly displayed in Outlook on my PC.
Motorola Droid Bionic :: Text Messages Received But Not Displayed
Jan 16, 2012 I'm curious if anyone else is experiencing this on their BIONIC.
I have vibrate on text message receipt turned on. My phone will vibrate indicating I have received a message but there is nothing in the notification bar or in the list of text messages. I know that it is a failure to receive because I often text people asking them if they just texted me and I almost always find who it was. They resend and I get it. I can't seem to find a trend as to what the root cause may be. Is this a known issue that is expected to get addressed in one of the upcoming patches or do I need to report it to Motorola to look into?

Apr 13, 2012 The My Gallery app on the Razr/Razr Maxx automatically chooses photographs to display on the opening screen of My Gallery. Some of these photos are of contact photos of people I don't want to look at all the time such as business associates. I would prefer to replace the photos of my choosing such as pictures of my family, friends , vacation etc.
Is there any way to re-select the photos that are displayed on the opening My Gallery screen?
