Motorola Droid X :: 3g Hot Spot Local Only?
Apr 22, 2011I set up the 3g hot spot, using droid x, and 2.21. It worked fine but said local only. I have the unlimited data plan, so why local only?

Motorola Droid :: Touchscreen Seems To Have A Dead Spot?
Jul 31, 2011I've just started getting a problem where a certain area of the touchscreen doesn't register the input. For instance, I cannot get the letter "d". As I move my finger very slightly I will get either "s" or "f", but not "d" inbetween. However if I hold down and slide across, the d will register, at least sometimes. Surprisingly I have problems with the same letter in either portrait or landscape mode, which is a different place on the keyboard.

Jan 14, 2012When using the Droid Razr as a hot spot for my Zoom I cannot access Yahoo.com and a few other sites. When connecting using a conventional wireless hot spot there is no problems. Also tested using an HTC 4gLTE and there was no problems. The issue is specific to the Verizon/Motorola Razr Hot Spot. There seem so be an MTU issue with many sites when only using a Droid Razr as a hot spot, The Razr connects directly to all the sites but the Hot Spot function will not allow certain sites. After repeated calls and Google Searches I found a tech that amited that Verizon / Motorola Droid Razr has an issue with accessing certain sites only in the Hot Spot App. They plan to correct in the next update hopefully in Feb 2012. They suggested the the fix is in Beta. Some of the sites that don't connect are Yahoo.com and Yahoo.mail Microsoft.com some Apple sites. There are more but I didn't have pen at the time.

Apr 8, 2015So I started to notice this in my picture gallery. When I open it to look at a photo and then close the app, re-opening the app brings me right back to the last photo I was looking at. On my Razr M if you closed the gallery and open it again you are back on the folders screen. Now with the turbo I have to hit back a few times to get where I want to be. The same goes with my emails and text messages. If I text someone and close, instead of getting the whole list when I re-open messaging it starts off on the last person I was talking to.

Jan 18, 2016Motorola Droid Turbo (v. 1) Ballistic - I have a dead spot on the upper left hand corner of the screen, annoyingly right where a menu or "back" navigation button usually is in an app. I have confirmed this one spot is dead to the touch with a screen tester. When I turn my phone off and back on, it reactivates the spot for a time, then eventually it goes dead again. This phone is less than 2 weeks old...I just got my settings just the way I like them.

Sep 15, 2011I have had a white spot on my screen that is about a 1/4" in diameter for a few weeks now. It is about an inch above the Z in the Verizon logo at the bottom of the screen. It only really shows up on white/light backgrounds such as webpages. I was living with it fine until a few days ago it appears that there is a huge amount of light bleed coming from the whole bottom of the screen now. It almost appears as if the LCD is separating from the screen and allowing light through.
If you take the battery cover off the phone and press on the battery where the spot is in the screen it causes a ripple/wave effect in the screeen, just like if you press on an LCD monitor. I assume that with use overtime the battery has heated/cooled and expanded into the LCD components of the phone, so when you press on it, it is probably directly touching the LCD components. I use my phones for music/movies/games and it is not uncommon for the back of the phone to get fairly warm under my usage.
I've had my phone about 11 months, I went by a VZW corporate store and they are sending me a refurb from what I gathered. But I'm guessing this is a battery/design issue and my new/refurb isn't going to make it much longer than 11 months or so.
This is kind of a question/fyi for people since a lot of DX users are probably nearing the 12 month mark of owning a DX.
Motorola Atrix 2 :: Can't Connect To A&T Hot Spot
Jun 4, 2012When going to a baseball game my phone loses it's signal, however, the Diamondbacks offer AT&T hotspots throughout the building. I have AT&T service so you would think this is a no brainer, my son who has Sprint gets on with no problem, my husband with Verizon has no problem, (both have Android phones), my daughter with A&T service and an iPhone has no problems, however when I go on, it searches for awhile and then I get the following error message and it shuts off my wifi
AT&T Wi-FI Hot Spot Status Unable to confirm eligibility, please call Customer ---and then it fades away, if you click on the error message it completely disappears and there is no phone number to call. This is my second phone because of this issue and it isn't fixed. I would like to be able to use my phone to use MLB at the Ballpark but it's like taking a brick to the ballpark.
Motorola Photon 4G :: No Local Contacts Allowed?
Jan 6, 2012I just discovered that the Photon doesn't allow adding local (phone) contacts??? The documentation even says an e-mail account has to be set up before you can add a contact to the phone..
So, every contact I've added as been added as a gmail contact. Somehow I have some local contacts on my phone, I think they came over from my Epic.
The problem with this (other than the obvious requirement to have an e-mail account to put someone's phone number my phone!) is that some applications that synch only look at local contacts. For example, I was trying to figure out why another QIK user that is in my address book wouldn't synch and get the QIK user information, yet some of my others did. I found out that all of the ones that did, are local contacts (that were added back on my Epic and moved to this phone). Any contact added via this phone (thus as a Google contact) won't synch with QIK.
Sure, Moto could point fingers at QIK, but this seems like it could happen with others, as they would certainly expect local contacts to be there.

Jul 22, 2011Does Motorola intentionally make their new products inferior at release?I've been using a Droid and a Droid 2 for about 18 months.I shoot a lot of pictures outdoors, some macro, lots of nature and concerts.I also shoot indoors under challenging conditions (concert lighting.) They have both prtovided a passable point-and-shoot camera.The Droid 3 camera is dissapointing in that several important features have vanished:
-There is auto white balance, only a manual and difficult-to-use control.
-The user can no longer set ISO
-The user can no longer set EV
-Focus is iffy under a variety of conditions
-Photos have a bluish cast under most conditions, with and without flash
So instead of getting pretty good shots with a convenient camera, I'm getting washed-out, bluish garbage.(Issues with the video vs. Droid 2 also, in a separate post.)I want to know if Motorola intends to make the experience of this camera catch up with the spec soon, or if i should return my phone while I can still get something else from Verizon.

Thus I do not need the icons on the start screen that uses internet, etc. I would very much like to fill the startscreen with icons like calendar and contacts, etc instead. However it seems like 3 of the areas on the screen where icons can be placed are reserved for internet type icons. Is there a a way to put local icons in these areas?

It reported that was not available in my Country/Region.It turns out that even though France is defined as the Country/region, Local scout will only startup if France is also defined as the Browser language setting.I do believe that it is a bug as the prefered language for the browser should not be used to determined the location.

BB Bold :: Local Provider Says It Is Not Recognized
Jul 12, 2011I purchased my BB 9700 on March 2010 in Panama. I live in Venezuela and contracted with a local provider the services for the BB device. Everything went perfect until four weeks ago when I was transferring photos from my BB to my computer and updated the OS. After that I noticed I was not receiving emails not BB messages. I went to the local provider and they tried to fix the problem without success. After two or three attemps they concluded my BB was not recognized. They said that the "edge" was not in capital letters "EDGE" so that meant that I could not get the internet services. I placed my simcard in my wife's BB 9700 and the word EDGE showed up. I placed my wife's simcard in my BB and the word "edge" showed up. The conclusion was that my BB had the problem. So I ended up with a BB that's working like a standard cell phone. The provider told me that maybe BB or RIM could have mistakenly deleted my BB from their system.
