I recently received ICS on my Droid 4. The new dialer doesn't have any method of getting to your contacts. Why? How can such a basic feature be ommited? This is a PHONE right?
I know there are other dialers available, but the default ICS dialer has a people link, is it possible to dump the motorola skinned dialer and revert to the google supplied ICS dialer?
I have TWO Moto VCast Icons (that can't be moved) on my 1st screen and no phone dialler icon at all will you stop working so hard at screwing up my phone? How can I lose at least one of the two (preferably BOTH) VCast icons and get my dialer icon back? (I've done a power down.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAnyone else have problems with the dialer not responding? I have issues as well with links not responding, same issue I believe but to the dialer first. On occasion I will try to make a phone call and when I press on the person I want to call it will highlight but not dial. I can do this over and over again with just the name highlighting for like thirty times. Then all of a sudden (30 seconds to 3 minutes later) all the phone calls will try to go through and I can hear the persons (usually my wife) voicemail and ringing at the same time. As for the links, it's a similar issue. I will click on a link and it will highlight but will not do anything. Usually when this happens I have to click it three or four times before it registers and the link is followed.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI got a Wildfire phone yesterday, which is my first smart phone. I set up my Facebook and Twitter accounts and I'm using it with a sim card from my old phone, so imported the contacts from that.
The problem is when using the People app, I have multiple contacts for the same person. For example, I have 4 separate contacts for my sister - SIM contact, Facebook, Twitter and email. I have managed to link the Facebook, Twitter and email contacts for her, but I can't link her phone numbers to it. I have 3 phone numbers for her (home, work and mobile) on the SIM card - how do I link these so that when she calls me it shows her photo, status updates etc? When I try to link, it doesn't show up the SIM contacts so I can't add her phone numbers to the main contact page
Anything to do with dialing, I'll touch the contact I want to dial and it will take up to 20 seconds for the phone to resond. Other times, I'll end up touching the contact twice and by the time it connects, the phone is asking me to merge calls..I'm running 2.2.1 OTA, I'm rooted, but have not made any changes, no ROM's, pretty straight forward. I just took the phone in to a VZW store a few weeks back and they did a full reset on it. Can the dialer cache get full?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just noticed this yesterday. In using Google Maps 5.6.0, I pressed on a place (local Pizza joint), selected the phone number, and the dialer comes up, but it does not populate with the phone number. Using the tab to call also does not populate the dialer.

View 6 Replies View RelatedCurrently digging my Razr M, but one small thing is driving me nuts, I am unable to figure out how to clear the 'favorites' in the dialer.
I can clear the recent calls with no issue, but that 3rd tab, favorites, I am unable to make those go away or reset.
When I press on the Contacts tab in the dialer, the dialer crashes and the phone loses connectivity briefly and then recovers.

I have tried opening the phone dialer through contacts and through the car dock. Still nothing. It just flashes open real quick and then returns to the home page. I am not looking for another dialer to download, I would just really like to get the original one working again.

There is the one shortcut that you can put in the bottom four can take you to the dialer (as long as the dialer was the last thing you used) or to your contacts (if that was the last thing you used). The one I would like to be able to put on the bottom is the dialer shortcut that can take you to the dial pad no matter what. I can put that shortcut anywhere but in the bottom four. Does anyone know of a way to put the shortcut to the direct dialer down on the bottom without having to use something like launcher pro or ADW?
View 5 Replies View RelatedA week ago I went to make a phone call hit the icon on my home page without looking to see it had been replaced with the Kindle app icon..and of course...opens the Kindle app. Now, in order to make a phone call...I have to open my contacts, press the dialer, and then make the call. A lot of extra effort for a phone call when the main function of the phone is making phone calls.
maybe I should just wait another two weeks and go buy an iPhone. Renewal is just around the corner.
Every once in a while (has happened 2 times in as many weeks) the phone or dialer APP will suck battery and throw off my typical discharge time WITHOUT me ever placing a call (let alone opening the phone interface). For example, as shown in the attached, I'm down almost 70% on just 19 hours and change of use, with just 2.5 hours of screen on time, with the phone app draining 7% without any phone usage. Typically, I can make it 24+ hours with 4+ hours of screen time on that level of battery drain.
Aside from those instances, battery has been great on L. Used to get, typically, about 26 hours before charging at 25%. Now, I consistently get 29+ hours on the same usage.
I have them both st up individually....It was done automatically on my ipad2, and I cant figure out how to just have one icon on my droid3 that accepts ALL my e mails.

Although initially I thought it was good, here are some annoying ones: While entering info in different apps (texting, email, color notes) after typing only a bit, it stops accepting anymore keystrokes and says has separated from the app.No longer able to link or unlink contacts.Unfortunately, I am still discovering contacts that are linked.In case it matters, Verizon is my carrier.I wasted much time trying to send an email to Verizon support and to post on Verizon forum.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAs I have read about ICS and the G Nexus on many forums it came to my attention that the notification tones and the ringtones are permanently linked together. I am extremely dissapointed to hear this. I am enjoying my Razr, but wait excitedly for ICS to come to my Razr. Now I am concerned. I am hoping that this can be passed on to Motorola developers and see if something can be done. I have already posted something in the Goggle mobile forums as well, I am not sure if it will be seen or not.Prior to ICS we have been able to link and unlink our notification sounds and ringtone as we see fit. I like to have mine linked in the day to run off one volume control and then unlink at night to silence all notifications, but keep my ringtone available in case of emergencies. Having text messages, email, and various other notifications wake me up at night is unacceptable. I am not sure why this feature had to change. I am hoping it was a gross oversight and can be easily corrected. I am posting this here in hopes that if Google doesn't change it that Motorola can in the version it releases to it's devices.
From reading forums I know I am not alone in this opinion. Many people do the same as me including the 5 droids that live in my home. :) Please moderators when you read this pass my concern on to the appropiate place. I am not a developer so I have no idea what goes into writing the software, but I just can't see what is so drastic in ICS that this feature had to be taken out.
Does any know of a way to 'relink' the market shortcut at the top of the app drawer? Since Google updated the Market to the 'Play Store' that link at the top no longer works.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI have had my Droid for over 2 years and it has worked very well with my Acura HandsFree Link. Suddenly, it told me it was paired and could not connect. My husband's I-Phone (AT&T was worked with this car as long as my Droid has. But the HandsFree has no trouble connecting to his IPhone. My Droid also cannot find my husband's Plantronics hands-free earphone. The OS appears to be the latest version as I checked and no updates are available.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got the ICS update, but now my smart actions cannot control notification volume...? Also, I cannot link volumes anymore, so the volume buttons do nothing for me anymore. Turn down ringer, sure....but then notifications and alerts just blast through without having to manually adjust each one! Why was this removedAlso, since the update, the emal widget only allows you to select either one account to display, or all combined?? Why? I have 6 accounts...combined view is just a mess. On GB, you could select the account right there on the widget. Now, you have to go into the email, then switch it. Even then, the widget reverts to the first one you set up. This is annoying and I do not get why this would be removed?That is the same for the news widget and the social media app...where did they go? They were better than any other widgets out there and now they are gone...unless I am just looking in the wrong place?

1. What do the different colored boxes with the initial on it represent?

Why is this happenning? I am facing lot of problems in my SE Neo V mobile. I updated my phone officially last week. The problems are serious and so irritating. The older version of android 2.3.4(Gigerbread) was gud when compared to this newer version of ICS. I am Facing these problems.
1. My phone dialer is too slow and takes more than 5 econds to open a dialer.
2. Unable to forward messages since it gets stuck in the contacts adding option itself when I use the forward option. And it must be Switched off and On to get back to home screen. Or else i cant message any 1 else.
3. Anything being copied to any folder using Computer show a message saying that The device is currently being stopped and cannot copy files.This is the most irritating part that i encounter always.
4. Any game like HD is not woking. It either crashes down or the application doesn't get opened at all.
can anyone please tell me How to fix these errors?? I am really Facing so many problems like these with the newer Version of Android ICS 4.0.3.And i read that using sony PC companion and also update service setup v could fix these bugs.. But doing this will expire the warranty of my phone??
I am having a problem with not all appointments in my google calendar synching into my Droid. I have two google accounts. One I have set to synch contacts, calendar and gmail. The other I have set to just synch the gmail. I have resynched from the settings/accounts & sync and this did not help. I did a factory reset, that still did not help, there are no events at all now.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded from a Droid2 to a Droid3. My Droid3, when connected, via USB cable to my laptop (running Ubuntu) will charge (lightning bolt on the battery, etc), but no notification sound/icon allowing selection of USB mode. I have a cable I bought from the Verizon store. The same cable works with the droid2 still. I can swap from the droid3 to the droid2 and it would connect and my laptop would mount the sdcard (in usb mass storage mode). I have also tried at different computers at work. I had Verizon send me another refurbished droid3. It wouldn't connect either. Motorola Tier 2 tech walked me through the basic checks again, and had me do many combinations of turning on and off, and unplugging the battery, and factory resets to no avail. I asked the tech support to try it on one of their models and she said it worked there, coming up with a notification.
Next I went into a Verizon store, tested with a new cable and multiple computers there, and had an employee try with their droid3. Still no notification message with either of our phones! They said I should wait for update. I have 90days of warranty on this phone, should I wait for an update or maybe even ICS? or return it with hopes I just have seen three droid3's in a row with this problem, and they are not all like this? Or even possibly a different phone? (i like the droid 3 otherwise).
I have about 8 gigs worth of music on a 16 gig class 6 SD card in my D3. Every so often some music files will disappear and LOST.DIR will then have numeric files in its folder. I do not know why this is happening, but I am not the first who seems to be having this issue.
I thought I was doing something wrong that was causing the SD card to unmount incorrectly but my D3 has not been USB connected all morning and I have lost 140 files, and correspondingly LOST.DIR now has 140 numeric files.
I had a friend take about 80 pictures today while we were surveying, and only the first three came out. The rest are files but show 0 kb size and display as a picture icon. I only watched a couple of the pictures while they being taken, but everything seemed to be working fine. Picture showed up after being taken.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe hardware is in the phone, but Moto opts to not include an FM Radio app. Sure, they load it up with BLOATWARE, but fail to include this very usable app.I download an .apk file, and walla, I have the same radio that I had on my X. I reallize that some people may not find the need for an app like this, but I use it at my health club all the time. The TV's that are around the treadmills each broadcast a separate frequency should you wish to listen. In addition, God forbid we loose cell service, it is always nice to have a radio for emergency purposes.
