Motorola Droid X :: Slow And Delayed Dialer On It?
May 24, 2011
Anything to do with dialing, I'll touch the contact I want to dial and it will take up to 20 seconds for the phone to resond. Other times, I'll end up touching the contact twice and by the time it connects, the phone is asking me to merge calls..I'm running 2.2.1 OTA, I'm rooted, but have not made any changes, no ROM's, pretty straight forward. I just took the phone in to a VZW store a few weeks back and they did a full reset on it. Can the dialer cache get full?
Why is this happenning? I am facing lot of problems in my SE Neo V mobile. I updated my phone officially last week. The problems are serious and so irritating. The older version of android 2.3.4(Gigerbread) was gud when compared to this newer version of ICS. I am Facing these problems.
1. My phone dialer is too slow and takes more than 5 econds to open a dialer. 2. Unable to forward messages since it gets stuck in the contacts adding option itself when I use the forward option. And it must be Switched off and On to get back to home screen. Or else i cant message any 1 else. 3. Anything being copied to any folder using Computer show a message saying that The device is currently being stopped and cannot copy files. This is the most irritating part that i encounter always. 4. Any game like HD is not woking. It either crashes down or the application doesn't get opened at all.
can anyone please tell me How to fix these errors?? I am really Facing so many problems like these with the newer Version of Android ICS 4.0.3.And i read that using sony PC companion and also update service setup v could fix these bugs.. But doing this will expire the warranty of my phone??
My emails don't synchronized correctly. I mean, I can check my emails in my computer and the new messages are there, but then I go and check my phone and they are not there even if I request new emails. This seems to happen often. I have deleted the account and add it again sometimes so it can sync correctly.
I have TWO Moto VCast Icons (that can't be moved) on my 1st screen and no phone dialler icon at all will you stop working so hard at screwing up my phone? How can I lose at least one of the two (preferably BOTH) VCast icons and get my dialer icon back? (I've done a power down.
Anyone else have problems with the dialer not responding? I have issues as well with links not responding, same issue I believe but to the dialer first. On occasion I will try to make a phone call and when I press on the person I want to call it will highlight but not dial. I can do this over and over again with just the name highlighting for like thirty times. Then all of a sudden (30 seconds to 3 minutes later) all the phone calls will try to go through and I can hear the persons (usually my wife) voicemail and ringing at the same time. As for the links, it's a similar issue. I will click on a link and it will highlight but will not do anything. Usually when this happens I have to click it three or four times before it registers and the link is followed.
I just noticed this yesterday. In using Google Maps 5.6.0, I pressed on a place (local Pizza joint), selected the phone number, and the dialer comes up, but it does not populate with the phone number. Using the tab to call also does not populate the dialer.
I recently received ICS on my Droid 4. The new dialer doesn't have any method of getting to your contacts. Why? How can such a basic feature be ommited? This is a PHONE right?
I know there are other dialers available, but the default ICS dialer has a people link, is it possible to dump the motorola skinned dialer and revert to the google supplied ICS dialer?
When I press the dialer icon from the home page, the screen flashes like it is trying to open the phone dialer, but nothing happens. I have tried opening the phone dialer through contacts and through the car dock. Still nothing. It just flashes open real quick and then returns to the home page. I am not looking for another dialer to download, I would just really like to get the original one working again.
On my droid turbo I have my contact list on the contacts icon on the main screen. In the phone dialer contacts list I have my wife's contact list that comes up. I can't figure out how to change that to my contacts lost.
Does anyone know of a way to put the shortcut that takes you directly to the dialer in the bottom four icons? There is the one shortcut that you can put in the bottom four can take you to the dialer (as long as the dialer was the last thing you used) or to your contacts (if that was the last thing you used). The one I would like to be able to put on the bottom is the dialer shortcut that can take you to the dial pad no matter what. I can put that shortcut anywhere but in the bottom four. Does anyone know of a way to put the shortcut to the direct dialer down on the bottom without having to use something like launcher pro or ADW?
A week ago I went to make a phone call hit the icon on my home page without looking to see it had been replaced with the Kindle app icon..and of course...opens the Kindle app. Now, in order to make a phone call...I have to open my contacts, press the dialer, and then make the call. A lot of extra effort for a phone call when the main function of the phone is making phone calls.
maybe I should just wait another two weeks and go buy an iPhone. Renewal is just around the corner.
Every once in a while (has happened 2 times in as many weeks) the phone or dialer APP will suck battery and throw off my typical discharge time WITHOUT me ever placing a call (let alone opening the phone interface). For example, as shown in the attached, I'm down almost 70% on just 19 hours and change of use, with just 2.5 hours of screen on time, with the phone app draining 7% without any phone usage. Typically, I can make it 24+ hours with 4+ hours of screen time on that level of battery drain.
Aside from those instances, battery has been great on L. Used to get, typically, about 26 hours before charging at 25%. Now, I consistently get 29+ hours on the same usage.
For the past several weeks, my D3 (got it the day they came out) has become intermittently slow. Sometimes it takes several seconds to respond to a screen touch - most often when placing a phone call. There have been times that it takes 20 or more seconds (sometimes more than a minute) to change to the phone app. Where the request to make a call used to happen instantaneously, it now never happens in less than several seconds.Yes, other apps show slowness on occasion, but none as slow as the phone app.I don't recall adding a particular app and then noticing the slowness.I've gone through the running programs and killed some - no effect on the slowness.I've rebooted and seen improvement - and not, usually not.I've removed several apps that I was not using - no change. It is a stock phone with stock apps and a few common/popular downloaded apps that mainly deal with weather, flying, and tasks/notes.
the wifi on my X has become increasingly slow but only on the down stream connection. speed is about 500kbs where upstream is 5.5mbs. vie tested other devises on wifi and they all get in the 12-20mbs range, and prior to noticing this i had tested my x with 8-12mbs down. nothing has changed on the router since this has occurred. after struggling to try and fix it, i reset my droid to factory and it still its a wall at 500kbs. i used speed test for both the old numbers and new numbers. both the app and the website agree on speeds the device is getting over a wifi connection. after this i also tried changing the settings to an open network that did not advertise its ssid, this did not change the results. the tests that had the 8-12 range were done from july last year to december, i switched routers in october so i was testing frequently for awhile. both routers had roughly the same speed for the droid but were faster for 5ghz range N devices.I first noticed the slower speed in late january and started testing then router is a netgear wndr3700?
My email application is very slow when selecting/unselecting/opening emails... I believe the reason is because i have over 4000 emails in the phone system but I cannot find a way to limit the # of emails stored, OR the # of days back to keep emails. Any suggestions? Do you know how to limit the # of emails? or store back to a maximum # of days... 7, 10 or 14 days?
so when the soak of 2.3.4 was out it seemed to me like a mostly 'under the hood' fix, and addressed a few bugs. After having lived with it for a while, some of the shine is wearing off. While they made some progress having the phone be a worthwhile mp3 player, now the camera app has suffered. The camera is really slow.It took me 9 tries this afternoon to get a shot with flash. The camera is so slow that the flash would pop before the shot was taken!
After playing a game, or using Gmail app, or using the stock texting s/w, etc. when I go back to the home screen there is this bothersome latency with repopulating the screen with my icons and the "basic icons" (such as phone, texting, apps, etc.) at the bottom. Is there something I can try with the app manager, or some other utility that will tell me what's causing this latency?
I've been having issues with my phone taking up to 5 seconds for my phone to load my widgets and applications on my home screen when I press the home key. I'm constantly killing apps and it seems that when I "fast reboot" my phone and restart the core processes the phone is back to normal again.
I have noticed that my phone is very slow connecting to the Internet when it first turns on or after it has been sitting for awhile. It takes about a minute or so for it to finally get going it just hangs there at first. Some sites take longer than others but they all do it. Once it grabs its good until you set it down again
I have noticed that the latest update has caused the auto brightness feature to really lag. It seems to take 3-5 seconds after I wake the phone for the brightness to adjust properly and at times it won't adjust at all-too dim in bright light, too bright in dim light. Before it was almost instant. Tried all the usual things, safe mode, reseting, etc.
When connecting my Droid Bionic to my laptop via USB cable for charging purposes, the phone will charge very slowly. I have left the Bionic on the cable for 3 1/2 to 4 hours and only see an increase in the charge of the phone of about 10%. I have installed the Motorola mobile drivers, and still no better performance. I have used multiple cables, and tried different USB ports to see if ther was any change. I have attempted while the laptop is conneced to power, and when it is running off battery, no difference.
Having a new problem finding and connecting to wifi hotspots / routers. When phone was new it used to find a list of available networks very quickly and connect to previously used networks without a problem. Now (only a few weeks old) the phone takes 2-3 minutes to "scan" for networks, then takes another 30sec or a minute to connect. Can't think of any settings I've changed which might have caused this. Have not installed any 3rd party wifi apps either.
