I've had my Defy for almost a year and avoid sending text because the screen is not touch sensitive. It is pretty constant. I have to just about bash the screen to get any response when trying to input text. It also happens when trying to answer the phone or select apps.

I have unchecked or checked everything that was normal under the old Android version. Currently using 4.1.2 android version.

View 3 Replies View RelatedGot My Defy 2 days back. Last night it rained heavily and I had to walk from my office to home. It was a 30-35 minute walk. I put my Defy in my pocket and started walking thinking its a water proof phone. When I reached home, first the phone's screen didn't respond to any touch. After a minute it went completely black and I could see heavy moisture under the glass. Only sensors were throwing some colored lights. I tried to call from my friend's phone on my number, and I could listen to the ringtone only. I could not pick up the call since there was nothing at all on screen. Today I put the phone in rice for around 8 hours still the condition is same. Its very unfortunate that I could use and explore my phone properly even for 2-3 days.

In certain screens like iMessage, when I tap lightly in one area, the screen will continually to scroll upwards even when I am NOT doing the swiping up motion.Â
Sometimes worse is when I tap on a message to try to read it, it automatically swipe left on the message thread and delete the whole message thread and that is very frustrating and means I lose entire conversations. Â
OTher times, when I am typing out a message or email, the cursor for the next character jumps to the middle of the last typed sentence even if I did not do it.Â
Again, just to summarize, without my wanting it, my touch screen creed with one tap sometimes makes the phone scrolls upwards or leftwards on message threads automatically.

Sometimes - it becomes more frequent - when I turn on the screen (the phone was on standby) and I start giving some input (e.g. sliding to unlock or entering the PIN) it will recognise my input, but then rejects it. For example when I want to unlock, I slide and when I lift my finger it rejects my input by sliding back to the start position. Another example is when entering the PIN (this happened once).
I started entering the numbers and when reaching the 4th, the input gets rejected (the last circle fills up and gets empty again). I also had it once when I had my phone unlocked already and I was looking at my home screen, sliding to the right - got rejected and landed on the first screen. When this happens the workaround is easy, putting my phone into standby and bring it back up and everything is fine. I have the suspicion, that there is a timer triggered or there should be a popup appearing - which is not coming up. And just for the record, my iPhone is not jailbroken or something.

I have an N97 and every day now the screen will stop responding to touch input. I think this is a hardware issue as I have always updated the firmware as soon as its released and I have the same problem no matter the firmware. Resetting and turning off/on again doesn't solve it. Just have to lock the screen and rub my thumb over the entire screen and it seems to start working again. Could part of the touch screen be getting stuck down?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSince the update or attempt to install the Swype beta I've had a problem with text boxes not receiving characters entered by the keyboard or voice command. I can pull up a search or text message or email. All of them will allow the keyboard to display and it vibrates to let me know I'm pressing characters, but nothing ever actually appears in the window. Same for voice input. It appears to be working, but no words actualy appear in the text window.

It was purchased SIM-free in June 2011 and has been running with an Orange UK SIM until 2 days ago when I switched it over to GiffGaff.
I wanted to try to preserve some text messages, but not sure if they are on the old SIM or in phone/SD memory.
I did have to perform a reset on swapping the SIM in order to re-authenticate the Motoblur account. If the messages are in the phone memory, will the reset actually over-write, or can they be retrieved with forensic software (I'm basically competent in use of forensic software).
When scrolling upwards mine seem to stop at a certain level. How can I get past this to see the older texts?

I got a call, dried off, used it, and the buttons on the phone became frozen and all touch input was no longer working. I finally soft reset the device by holding down the power button for 15 seconds (ignore the pull down to shut down tile, you can't drag it) and reset and it works again, but I am concerned. A little bit of humidity seems to have knocked it out, but it may be a coincidence.

I just got a Motorola Defy (the Scandinavian version, with Android 2.2.2), and I'm very happy with it so far. However, there is a strange little bug in it: Every time I type ":-)" in a text message, it will be replaced with a "sad face" icon (). And every time I type a capital letter "B", it is replaced with a "sunglasses" icon () in the message.
