View 1 RepliesI purchased the Photon recently because it stated that it supported SIP connectivity. Well it appears it doesn, but only over WIFI, unless you use Google talk.It appears that Sprint is attempting to keep users from using SIP over their data network, as everything that I have found indicated it is not possible as the feature in Android is disabled. I've seen where people have rooted other versions of Motorola Android devices to get around this, but have not seen if this is possible on the Photon.
It seems very near sited for this feature to be turned off.I get the minutes of use perspective for Spring, but fail to see how it supports the data network service they claim is entirely open - as obviously it is not. As companies chose to deploy Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) more and monre in Corporate America, it will only ensure they can't us Sprint, as the ability for their employes to support their open SIP network while off site will be limited to only when they are on a wifi network. And, as video become a bigger part of their business, having support on the data plan will become a bigger part of their business.
I've had my Defy for almost a year and avoid sending text because the screen is not touch sensitive. It is pretty constant. I have to just about bash the screen to get any response when trying to input text. It also happens when trying to answer the phone or select apps.

View 4 Replies View RelatedBought few days back Asha 311 and updated to SW V 5.92. After that Russian and other input languages are missing in text editors / writing languages. Actually, there are blank spaces where languages were listed before update, with check marks, but without text (language name) visible. Although they can be checked (saying: "You have chosen multiple languages. Now using: english"), settings reset after each try.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI restarted my phone yesterday, or rather tried to - but it will not boot - it gets as far as the shimmering red M symbol but no farther. The only way to shut down ore try again is to remove the battery. Have also tried with USB connected, and with sim card removed. Battery shows 90% charge when USB connected.
Have tried hardware reset but it never shows the menu.
This phone is only a couple of weeks old and Im severely disapointed, my first time back to Motorola after many years away. It seemed like a good phone, but this is a great inconvenience.

View 1 Replies View Relatedsetting up auto-fetching applies to all email accounts. I swear on my 2.1 Spice XT300, the auto-retrieval was by email address (and also the smallest interval between fetches was 5 minutes, not 15 like on the Defy). I have never used 2.1 on the Defy; mine was original 2.2.1.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI updated to Froyo via Motorola website but it hasn't worked. My phone still shows firmware 2.1.1. Tried to update again via Motorola website but it now tells me that there are no updates for my phone.....I presume that it somehow detects that my phone previously downloaded froyo update.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy Defy is denied application on the market with no reason that I understand. Some apps are not visible from the phone, and are said "non compatible" from the market website. Sometime the website talks of country restriction while they should not be.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have had my defy now for a few months, and I have been pretty happy with it (babyproof smartphone!)Unfortunately, its becoming more and more unreliable, and am having to reboot it regularly. This weekend is the worst. Here are some of the things it is doing:
all apps keep freezing and crashing (no fancy apps, mostly use it for twitter, facebook etc).phone keeps freezing and being unresponsible on the home screen keep getting an 'emergency calls only' notification, which then clears straight away when i go into notifications.mms photos - both sent and received take up to 5 days to be visible. until then they are just flagged as 'downloading'. I'm pretty sure it shouldn't take 5 days to download a 27kb file. After rebooting, I did have a gmail widget require a forced close immediately. I was never using that widget anyway, and couldn't see it, so I uninstalled it. Now on rebooting I have to force close Google Services Framework. I have decided that looks reasonably important and useful and have declined to uninstall that so far.
I have a my Defy & XT and as of 9:22 am the weather widget hasn't udated and I've turned the phone off and on etc and then I deleted my location and tried to readd it and it said something like.. location information cannot be found (not sure off hand).. I don't know what to do but it won't let me add any loactions but apps from the market work.

View 15 Replies View RelatedCan anyone provide details or know anything about the tasks app (as in "to do list") that comes with the XYBoard 8.2? In playing around, I actually thinks a really well done app. Simple and clean. I have one screen on my XYBoard with just that widget and have been asking tasks, checking this off, and getting things done. my life is more than just the tablet. I'd like to be able to access to the list from the web and my Bionic. I know there are plenty of task/to do apps out there. I just can't seem to find out what this specific one is and wanted to know if someone could clue me in.Is it native as of Honeycomb 3.2? Was if provided by Moto or Verizon? Or is this one of their hand-picked apps for productivity that came preinstalled.
