Motorola Defy :: Screen On When Charging?
Apr 30, 2011I changed a setting on my new Defy last night and now wish to change it back but for the life of me I can't remember how I did it! I selected that I didn't want the screen to turn off whilst charging - but now I want it to switch off. Where do I go to find this setting again??

Motorola Defy :: Freezes While Charging - Screen And Softkeys Inactive
Jul 10, 2011I'm running Froyo on the DEFY. The issue is that the phone freezes while charging. The screen and the softkeys are inactive whereas the power button still functions correctly. It automatically opens/touches whatever is at the middle of the screen. I tried charging with a blackberry charger, and faced the same problem. But when I tried my brother's Samsung charger it worked just fine. And these were at different power outlets. So is it an issue with the charging unit?

Sep 4, 2011Over the last week my Defy started rebooting itself every night during charging (so that I had to input the sim card PIN every morning) and also had periods of very bad general slowdowns. I mentioned this to a friend who advised that I should power off my phone and then remove the sim card and SD memory card and clean them with a dry cloth.This has fixed my Defy which is now working perfectly again.

Jun 20, 2012I restarted my phone yesterday, or rather tried to - but it will not boot - it gets as far as the shimmering red M symbol but no farther. The only way to shut down ore try again is to remove the battery. Have also tried with USB connected, and with sim card removed. Battery shows 90% charge when USB connected.
Have tried hardware reset but it never shows the menu.
This phone is only a couple of weeks old and Im severely disapointed, my first time back to Motorola after many years away. It seemed like a good phone, but this is a great inconvenience.

Oct 28, 2010I usually charge my phone overnight because the battery goes almost dead by the end of the day. I had connected my phone to the charger and tried to use the touch screen, it didnt work to my surprise. I tried to use the hardware buttons, they seemed to be working but all that in vain because when i tried to switch off the phone, i couldn't...!! Because the final screen to confirm the switch off of the phone is a touch command. This is not expected to happen on a device that i paid so much for...
I think there is some problem with the gravity sensor when connecting to the charger, i have seen this only when i connect my phone for charging and when the phone is in a position where the screen is facing the floor tilted towards the right. I have seen this problem 3 times, and would not like to see it happen again.

Apr 3, 2012Totally stock Defy, upgraded to 2.2 and on its 2nd ear speaker.While in the browser the phone froze compleatly, so after waiting a while I pulled the battery, and on restarting it went straight to a bootloader screen.Then when i connect to the PC it, just changes the last line to Transfer Mode OK.I have tried the Start button and Volume rocker switch, but this seems to do nothing. I have tried uninstalling everything and re installing it all again, opening the software when the phone is connected already and connecting the phone once the software is running. When I close the software and the phone is connected the phone restarts.

May 22, 2011From the first day I began using my DEFY (about 2 months ago) I have experienced a great deal of unresponsiveness with my touchscreen. Generally, when the phone goes into Locked/ Sleep mode I will attempt to unlock it and the screen will be unresponsive.Sometimes I'll be able to unlock it and then it will be unresponsive to touch.Most of the time, pressing the Sleep button and re-unlocking it will solve the problem, TEMPORARILY.
This is a frequent occurance and has gotten to the point where it significantly impacts my ability to use the phone effectively.Especially when I receive an incoming call that I am unable to answer because the screen does not respond.Motorola experts, would you recommend sending the phone in for warranty service?Are there any firmware upgrades I need to address this?

Aug 5, 2011My Defy has an odd problem whereby every so often I am not able to move apps around the home screen, or add new ones. If I click and hold on an existing app icon, or an app in the drawer, then I get the vibration as normal and I can drag the app around the screen but:I never get the green highlight showing new places where I can put the icon, andI can't drag to another page of the home screen: the side bars never turn green to let me flip to the next page.I also can't resize widgets like the clock or weather when it gets in this state.The only way I've found to clear this fault is to reboot the phone, which is a bit of a pain.
