I have a .nomedia file in my downloads directory to keep downloaded media from being added to the libraries. After the update this no longer works. Ant downloaded pics are getting added to the gallery automatically.
View 1 RepliesI'm a smart phone user for a whole month now, so you may need to type slowly because I'm still pretty ignorant.'m trying to figure out the best way to get music onto my Atrix. The music right now would mostly come from CDs. I can never seem to make Windows Media Player do what I want it to do, and so syncing from that has not been much fun, although it has partially been successful.I just discovered Moto Phone Portal (MPP), and so I thought I might use that to transfer music by just moving files by WiFi, but I cannot get the File Manager in MPP to work. All other parts of the software appear to work just fine. When I click on the File Manager tab, and then choose either "Internal" or "External", nothing happens after that. I prefer the WiFi to USB since I'm too lazy to drag out the USB cable.This is on a Windows Vista computer, using either Firefox 4 or Internet Explorer 9 (same result either way).

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have had the atrix since it came out with a 32gig sd card, I store all my videos/pictures on it. I have never had any problems. After the 4.1.57 updated I have been having issues. Im not blaming the update I dont know what is wrong but its somthing I did look into.I record Videos, and then my phone will not play themback, It will show a preview of the video but then say "file cannot be displayed or played". Sometimes it lets me watch the video at first, but then the next time i go to watch it I get that error and its for good i wont be allowed to watch the video again.As for the pictures, Ill take pictures and it will show a preview of the picture but it wont let me click it and view it . I do not get a error msg with the pictures, It just simply wont let me view the pictures. Transfer those files that i cant watch or view to my computer, and my computer says it doesnt reconize the file format. But then when I look at the file type of that file that isnt working with a file that does work on my computer, its the same exact file fromat so i dont understand that?
I at first did pull out my sdcard/sim/battery didnt solve the problem. so i did a factory reset and that still didnt fix the problem. I also tried to switch the videos/picture that isnt working onto my external space on my phone and I get the same deal. Im also allowed to play music just find off my sdcard, its only videos/pictures my phone is having problems with. This is very frusterating since I use my camera almost everyday, and my sons first birthday is coming up this saturday and i wanted to record it all and burn it to a dvd but that is starting to seem unlikey and this is very frusterating. I called motorola and Im told to call back monday to talk to a higher level tech when there open.
When I try to play an AVI video file (from an 808 keychain camera) that I copied from my computer to the phone SD card, the file comes up & plays but all I get is audio with a blank/black screen. The files play fine on the computer. I tried small ( 8mg ) files but no difference. I use the stock media player w/ flash player which has worked great for everything up till now. OS is 2.3.6.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi have an Atrix 4g (stock)running gingerbread 2.3.6 i noticed a file listed as LOST.DIR. on my internal memory when i open it the names of the files are listed as numbers ranging from 92 to 1315. 126 files in total. when i try to open them it keeps saying "unable to open this type of file". when i long click it for file options and click info it shows me file properties with the following info "? 98 TYPE:FILE, FOLDER:/MNT/SDCARD/LOST.DIR, SIZE: 4KB, MODIFIED ON: DEC 31, 1979 7:00PM". every file size is 4kb and they all say modified on Dec 31, 1979 @ 7:00pm. can any one out there please tell me what this is and if they are safe to delete or how to restore the files. i am very confused about the modified date, i was 2yrs old in 1979

View 14 Replies View RelatedOne problem I am having is that I will occasionally get an error message when trying to play a media file that I know the phone supports that says "the player does not support this type of file", or something like that. If I turn the phone off and back on, it plays fine, but will then give me the error later on in the day. The types of files I am trying to play are mp3 and xvid avi. One idea I have is that the music player widget is cause the problem because if you play an mp3, but then try to do something else while it plays(multitask) it will not play in the background like it used to. You have to actually go into the media player and create a now playing list. This is very annoying to me as I play a lot of media on my phone throughout the day and currently have to restart my phone 2 or 3 times.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to transfer my music, ringtones to my new atrix 4g and from what I have gathered from various postings I need to make separate folders for everything...such as notifications, ringtones, and texting tones. Seems kind of silly to me since some of these files have dual functionality and I do not want to have the same file in multiple folders to serve different purposes.
If there is a list of suggested folder locations/names for the atrix either on an sd card or the onboard memory I cant seem to find it anywhere. To sum up my request I would hopefully like a single folder where I can have all my tones for ringtones, notifications tones, and alarm clock tones including being able to attach specific ringtones to contacts in my address book.
I noticed, using Android File Transfer AND USB Mass Storage, some flakiness. The drive/directories are usually detected but in the process of a copy, it fails then won't recognize the Atrix HD unless I unplug and re-connect.

I'd like to have some sample videos on my phone to show clients and potential clients, but a short test video I converted into mp4 gets an error message "File cannot be displayed or played".The file is not large nor long - 848x480,18MB, 1 minute 48 sec.compressed via Sorensen Squeeze v6 with MainConcept H264 codec at 1388kbps.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am unable to transfer files (pictures specifically) from my Win 7 32 bit PC to my Xoom via USB. I can copy files from my Xoom but not to it. The copy progress bar comes up but stops before completion. I have no problem copying files from my old XP machine so it appears to be something in Win 7 or my particular set up causing the problem.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have the Atrix HD and the notification light is only working when I reboot the system, then once the system is on, the notification light no longer works. My original Atrix has a settings option to turn the notification light on/off, but the Atrix HD has no such settings option which was in the 'display' settings on my original Atrix. I then tried the 3rd party apps, such as Light flow, and LED tester etc... none work, even though Light flow overrides the phone settings its still not functioning. I even went through and rebooted the phone, and also w/a technician on the phone and the same thing. the notification light will blink green during system reboot, but after that, it ceases to function. This seems trivial but it's a huge help when im working w/all the msgs I get to determine if I get an important msg or not and one of the reasons I stuck with the motorola line. i've checked hundreds of forums, and spoke to various tech supports, and I cant seem to get a answer that works.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI am running 2.1 and my phone ringer stopped working a few days. No changes to the phone, or new application, or physical damage. The symptom is incoming calls vibrate, but don't ring. If I check the ringtone by selecting a different tone, it plays Ok. Volume is fine also, set for independent control for incoming volume and phone ring. I have tried power cycling, removing the battery, checking my settings, and calling from different numbers (different ring tones).

During a call, when asked to enter my phone number, passcode, etc., the keypad disappears every time I try to press a key. When I get a key to press it stays on long and disrupts the call I am on. It makes it difficult to use my phone to call in to call centers as I cannot press the numeric option I need.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI bought a new work computer and tried using USB tethering with my Atrix. It installed the NDIS adapter but I was getting the infamous 169.x.x.x address. I decided to try it later since I was in a hurry.Now, the phone will not start USB tethering at all. I plug it in and the USB Tethering check box has a light green checkbox like it's turning on, but never changes. I have rebooted and pulled the battery. No change. What's strange is that I plug the USB in and when I go to the tethering screen the USB checkbox is already checked automatically. I seem to remember having to enable it manually before all this started.

Ive now tried it on 2x tvs and 2x monitors and Im getting the same problems.
i've just bought my Motorola Atrix from SingTel Singapore yesterday, it doesn't work from my home WiFi hub! But my iPhone has no problem at all. I plan to go back to the Carrier tomorrow to ask for change to another phone, most likely iPhone.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI first discovered that the camera is locked on fixed focus about a week ago when I tried to take a picture of a barcode. The camera takes good pictures as long at the subject is atleast 2' away. This camera actually does not auto focus or focus at all (do some tests yourself). The irony is that there is a "macro" mode under the scenes setting but that does not help either. I called Motorola and they seem to be aware that their phone which is advertised as having auto focus does not actually focus. They have no estimate on a fix for this problem.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a shortcut on one of my homescreens to the News & Weather App (version 1.3.04) which was supplied with my ATRIX 4G. When I open the app, it used to come up with the weather for my location (which I have manually set with a zipcode), but lately it just says "Sorry, weather currently unavailable". If I scroll the screen to the left the other "News" tabs do display current content like they always have. Only the "Weather" tab seems not to be working. I've tried messing with the app's weather settings, but it doesn't seem to be able to find a location from a zipcode any longer. Again, this was not an app that I downloaded, so I can't uninstall and reinstall it. Force stopping and clearing data doesn't fix it either.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI've had my ATRIX 2 about a week now, and the USB Mass Storage option for the USB connection has only actually worked two or three times of all the times I have connected my phone. The Windows Media Sync and Motorola Phone Portal settings usually (but not always) do work. I've tried just about every combination of installing/reinstalling drivers, trying different cables/ports, restarting the computer/phone, etc., but nothing works consistently.I'm running Windows 7 64-bit on my computer, but I'm pretty sure the problem is the phone since no changes on my computer affect the connection.
Totally aside from manually moving files to or from the phone, the Mass Storage option is the only one that works with any of the methods I have to sync my old iPhone playlists to my new phone (Motorola Media Link, Winamp, iTunes agent).Does anyone have any idea why this wouldn't be working consistently for me?
After I updated for GB, my fingerprint reader stopped working. I even tried deleting the profile
and redoing my fingerprint. It will not recognize a new swipe when I try to do it.
I updated to ICS but Radio FM is not working even I set the region India as I am using Atrix 2 (MB865) in India. I scanned and shows 'No FM station found'.
