By default you turn sound on or off. I want sounds if I receive a text but not if I receive an email. I want vibrations for texts and phone calls, but again not for emails.Also, I don't want to see email notifications in my drop down twice, once for email, once for gmail.

I can actually push it back in just a tad on the top side of the rocker, but not on the bottom.
If this is the way it is, well, so be it. If it's not, and nobody else has this issue, I'll be exchanging it later. I've done nothing to this phone but hold it in my hand and set it on my bedside table. The VZW rep put it in their black hard-shell case, which is very tight and hard to get off, but other than that, this has been babied during the whopping 16 hours I've had it.

View 7 Replies View RelatedJust picked up the M8 and I'm super pleased with just about everything on the phone with the exception of a few things. One of the few things that bugs me about this phone is that I'm constantly missing texts, and e-mail notifications if the phone is in my pocket.
On my old phones, I'd rely on vibration to let me know when I receive incoming texts, or notifications, and on the M8 it seems theres only a single option to enable vibration and not anywhere to intensify, or even change the vibration patterns when receiving texts or other notifications.
Is there anything built into the phone that can intensify the vibration or possibly make it vibrate for a longer duration? I'd hate to download a third party app just to do this, but if thats my only option then I'll be happy to do so.
I use my phone for business, I need to be able to tell when a text comes in for a customer, right now every notification that comes in, is the same sound. when I go to sound settings, it lets me change the sound, but it is still the SAME for texts and notifications I need to tell texts from everything else.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI prefer to use to ring tones and rely on vibrate mode, but the native vibrate is so short and weak that I miss it most of the time. I have tried a doze apps that are suppose to let you customize vibrations and the like. I can get none of them to work. The best I an hope for is that my original vibrate still works (the stock "2 short vibrates"). In many cases installing the app disables the vibrate mode alltogether. I have read some things about turning off the "stock" vibrate, etc. but those instructions are very unclear and I haven't found a way to make it work. I'm frankly shocked at the lack of "built in" customization of notifications. But even if I need to get an app to do it, how in the world can I make that app work. My old benighted Blackberry was better at notifying me.

I have a long email alert and message tone, and when I'm on a call and they go off, it's so loud and long I can't hear who I'm talking to. They can't hear the alert but it goes on for so long they waffle on and I miss a lot of conversation. Why is this not automatically disabled or set to silent when taking a call?

Title says it all: Atrix does not vibrate when in silent mode and I receive a notification. Vibrate in sound settings is to "Only in Silent Mode"

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I click from either the "Notification" screen, or the Text Message List, I am directed to the wrong text messaging thread. This doesn't happen every time, it happens every day, and multiple times, however. Usually, when I reboot the phone, the problem is gone...momentarily.
It seems to happen with random messages. I use Universal Inbox and currently see message from text, Facebook, Twitter, Gmail and my AT&T mail.
If I use the stock Text Messaging app, I can open the list of messages and see whatever I can from the preview there, but when I click to open the thread, it will open a totally random message thread. Weird. I'm not that into text messaging, but it does annoy me when I need to use it and I can't open individual messages because the wrong ones are appearing.
I don't know if this is a device problem, a software/app problem, an AT&T messaging problem or what. I'm somewhat ignorant about smartphones and have only had this Atrix 2 for about three months.

The cursor selector goes to the end of the visible part of the text box but the remaining text does not scroll to the right for editing purposes. Before when the magnifying glass was used, the text would scroll.

I have to open the stock texting app, and I will immediately see the unread messages, and at that time I get the 'Droid' sound and the text icon appears in the notification bar.
