Motorola Atrix 4G :: Message And Text Notifications Not Working?
May 21, 2012
All of a sudden or since last update, my ringtones for receiving a text message or a voice mail has stopped working.I think have check all the settings but need help badly need this feautert to work for my work....the overall voloume is all the way up, silent mode turned off, vibrate turned off, changed ringtones (thinking one may have gotten curoppted) Pulled battery and crashed instead of just turning off......
Anyone else have the problem with not being notified of new text messages? Many times I will pick up my phone and not see any LED or text message icon in the notification bar but will have new unread texts.
By default you turn sound on or off. I want sounds if I receive a text but not if I receive an email. I want vibrations for texts and phone calls, but again not for emails. Also, I don't want to see email notifications in my drop down twice, once for email, once for gmail.
When I click from either the "Notification" screen, or the Text Message List, I am directed to the wrong text messaging thread. This doesn't happen every time, it happens every day, and multiple times, however. Usually, when I reboot the phone, the problem is gone...momentarily.
It seems to happen with random messages. I use Universal Inbox and currently see message from text, Facebook, Twitter, Gmail and my AT&T mail.
If I use the stock Text Messaging app, I can open the list of messages and see whatever I can from the preview there, but when I click to open the thread, it will open a totally random message thread. Weird. I'm not that into text messaging, but it does annoy me when I need to use it and I can't open individual messages because the wrong ones are appearing.
I don't know if this is a device problem, a software/app problem, an AT&T messaging problem or what. I'm somewhat ignorant about smartphones and have only had this Atrix 2 for about three months.
Update to Gingerbread: I am unable to select text that is off the screen in a non-wrapping text box as exists in the browser search window. The cursor selector goes to the end of the visible part of the text box but the remaining text does not scroll to the right for editing purposes. Before when the magnifying glass was used, the text would scroll.
I have a Galaxy S5 and would like to be able to stop the notification of receiving an e-mail without stopping the notification of text messages. Is there a way to differentiate? I was able to do this on older phones.
Is there any way to change the size of a text message font to make it larger than the default size when reading?I know how to set email to the highest font size and also how to size it up when in the process of reading it, but I have not found a way to enlarge the font size of text messaging.
Since last tuesday, I am not receiving text message notification on my phone. It is not only after I made a phone call that the text message notification show up. I check all the settings and they seems to be okay.
Using the stock Messaging app on the S6 allows you to set notification SOUND of your choice - globally ... but no longer has the ability to set a custom vibration pattern. Also, you USED to be able to set unique notification sounds per individual or contact group , but that's now missing too.
My question is, using a third-party messaging app, are these things possible? If so, which texting app (Chomp, etc.) is the way to go so that you can set up unique sounds/vibrations for individuals or groups?
I have to open the messaging app to see if anybody has texted me. I've missed 2 very important time sensitive text messages already that have burned me.
I also have a band 2 (hate how it manages messages), but this problem occurs even when bluetooth and band 2 is off/not connected.
Nothing shows up on glance/lock screen even if I have messaging chosen to show quick status.
I don't always get email and calendar notifications (noise and vibrate) on my atrix 2 when the screen is off. If i happen to turn my screen on to make a call or something I will get notifications for emails that have come but did not trigger the notifications.
al the profile settings are correct, just randomly one day - since two days ago - i dont get a text noise.I even turned my phone off all last night. this morning - no change?
I updated to 2.3.4 over the air a few days ago. The little bar across the top of the home screen that displays icons for phone status and notifications has a new one I don't know.I've seen it mentioned in another post, but no one told the asker what it was since it wasn't the main question.
I prefer to use to ring tones and rely on vibrate mode, but the native vibrate is so short and weak that I miss it most of the time. I have tried a doze apps that are suppose to let you customize vibrations and the like. I can get none of them to work. The best I an hope for is that my original vibrate still works (the stock "2 short vibrates"). In many cases installing the app disables the vibrate mode alltogether. I have read some things about turning off the "stock" vibrate, etc. but those instructions are very unclear and I haven't found a way to make it work. I'm frankly shocked at the lack of "built in" customization of notifications. But even if I need to get an app to do it, how in the world can I make that app work. My old benighted Blackberry was better at notifying me.
One thing I miss about my Blackberry, I could set up Profiles for different sound configurations (Normal, Loud, Vibrate, Silent, etc.), and each action on the phone I could control in each profil always had all LED notifications OFF except for Voice Mail and Text Messaging. I have NO idea how to do that on the Atrix
1st problem: I moved from german to sweden recently, and now whenever I get messages from my german friends and a notification comes at the top of the screen, i click on it and it goes to a new message instead of opening the conversation.Â
2nd problem: I also have to save my friends' numbers twice under mobil and iphone once with 0 and once with +49 because otherwise it just shows their number instead of the name i have saved in my phone.
I always give my closest friends individual ringtones to separate them from all the other texts that I get. So I went to their contact info, added notification field and then changed their notification tone. But for some reason when they text me, they still come up as the default notification as like every other text does. Why can't I customize the text notifications by adding a different text notification to each of my contacts that I want a different notification tone for?
After much messing about I have finally got my emails to work on my atrix but to receive them I have to manually refresh them, is there anyway to set them up so when I get an email it will automatically give me a notification like it does on the IPhone.
Since the update, I have been having an issue with my sounds for notifications just go silent and the phone reverts to vibrating only. The thing is, the notifications are still set to "sound" and they play correctly when I go through the select notification sound option.
I am on call two weeks out of four and need to keep my phone on overnight, but I don't want to be disturbed by any notifications (texts, emails etc.) apart from phone calls. My BlackBerry had a very simple way of doing this, but it doesn't appear to be possible on the Atirx. I hope I'm wrong, but there doesn't appear to be anything for this in Settings.
I was wondering if there is a way to stop notifications from interrupting my music player. Text messages and email tones keep going off and it stops the song.
Under "Menu" then "Call Settings", does "Text Message Reply" work when enabled?Supposedly if you press the power button when a call is coming in, the call will be ignored and you will receive the option to have a "canned" text message sent to the ignored caller. When I press the power button while an incoming call is ringing from a mobile number, my screen goes dark, i.e. I get no prompts to select one of the text message responses and send it. When I wake the phone, I have a missed call indication in the notification area and that's all
