Motorola Atrix 4G :: Fingerprint Reader In Infinite Loop
Aug 25, 2011
I am having a very strange problem with the fingerprint reader. The problem started occasionally, but now is almost permanent. When at the lock screen, without even touching the sensor, I get the message "Swipe was too fast". It will instantaneously flash back to say "Swipe finger sensor", but usually flashes back so quickly to the "too fast" message you can't even see the "swipe" message. This pretty much prevents it from reading my finger swipes, although every once it a while I can break in.
I have tried many power cycles, pulling the battery, cleaning the sensor, all with no luck. In fact, I can do a clean power cycle, never touch the finger sensor at all, and when it finishes booting, it is already in the infinite loop. I even tried forgetting all fingerprint settings and re-registering, and most of the time as soon as I got to the screen to start reading my swipes, it would register all illegal swipes even before I ever attempted one. (After many tries, I was able to finally get through the re-register step).
To me it very much feels like a hardware issue with the sensor, but I'm wondering if anyone has seen anything similar as my searches have not turned up anything quite like this problem.
I have a fairly stock Atrix, build 4.5.91, with a decent share of apps, but no lauchers, lockers, task killers, and nothing in the auto-end list.
Its simply is that when I press the fingerprint sensor to bring the screen on, it starts yelling 'Swap too fast/too slow' bla bla bla BEFORE any actual fingerprint scan and it keeps doing it until I pres the sensor again to turn screen off. Tried disabling and enabling it, cleaned the sensor hardware gently but nothing has helped so far........Its Atrix 4G (till 4G i assume all parts will already go, just 4G will be left) on gingerbread 2.3.4...GB version.
Seems like ever since I updated to GB, every morning when I wake up and grab my phone and swipe the fingerprint reader, it doesn't respond at all for the first 5, 6, or 7 swipes, or about 10 seconds. Then it will suddenly respond and unlock my phone. Just wanted to find out if anyone else is having a similar problem before I call tech support, and if you were able to fix it somehow.
I have a Razr HD on Fido in Canada, due to the horrible stuttering it had it was suggested I do a hard reset to fix it. After doing the hard reset, it's now in an infinite loop of the android update logo (green android with the spinning blue thing), then the motorola logo, then a black screen.
Just purchased a used Curve 8530. Previous owner could not remember the password so after going through the process of too many tries and a wipe of the system, the phone now will not boot up. Get an hour glass and then a quick screen flash before it starts the same routine. When I try to connect to Desktop Manager it keeps connecting and dropping so I am unable to reload software.
One morning my torch 9860 didnt start and ended up in an infinite restart loop, the LED turns red for 6 seconds then is goes out, and then again red LED then goes out. Screen is always black. I've tried with JL_cmder and BBSAK but it wont recognize the device. I tried to catch it with AppLoader, and I can do the UNKNOWN PIN thing, but then when the JVM is starting to initialize again it will go into an infinite loop again.
I got an OTA update notification for 5.1 I downloaded and pressed install. It prompted me for a restart which i did. My phone has a setting which required me to punch in screen lock code everytime my phone restarts. Now, after restarting, it asks me to punch in the screen lock code. After punching in screen lock code, its stuck in boot animation loop ### Read some posts online and they mention " unlocking bootloader before updating. What is bootloader ? How do i check if my boot loader is locked or unlocked?
I tried to boot in recovery mode and it shows me " No command" ... I wiped cache partition through recovery mode- still no luck. It's stuck in boot loop..
A salesman in the store wanted me to try the Fingerprint Reader but I do not like it and want to go back to the swipe to unlock. How do you turn off the fingerprint reader? I am on Verizon if that makes a difference.
Today I received a second-hand iphone 3GS to replace a 4s which I lost.
Upon receipt, the phone displayed an image of a usb connector and an itunes logo suggesting that I need to connect to itunes before use.Â
When I attach the phone to a toshiba satellite C50 laptop it connects and immediately disconnects with an audible tone. This connect/disconnect cycle repeats every second or so and never ends.Â
If I connect the phone whilst powered down, hold the power button and home button together for 10 secs and then hold the home button only to enter restore mode, the phone connects to itunes and I get the option to restore. However, the restore always fails.Â
I have tried connecting using two seperate USB cables - I am not sure if either is genuine. There is no effect.Â
I have tried disabling USB controllers individually within device manager. There is no effect.Â
I have tried different USB ports/ There is no effect.Â
While connected, the phone appears in the device manager intermittently, appearing and disappearing as the phone connects/disconnects.Â
I have a Galaxy SM-G920A S6 fully stock that was on 5.0.2. I recently got a update OTA for it to 5.1.1. Of course this update failed to load for some reason. I then downloaded the stock update 5.1.1 unmodified firmware and flashed it via Odin. Worked perfect. Then I tried using it for my fingerprint and this error came up. I've tried rebooting of course. I tried resetting through recovery and wiping cache but it the error still pops up when I use anything related to the fingerprint reader.
Methods that I tried to use to Fix:I read on a past thread, that if you disable the fingerprint service in application manager and then reboot and then enable, it fixes the issue. I tried that and it was the same thing. I've been reading a few Xda threads and it seems like there is no real fix for this. This is the name of the file I installed: G920AUCU3BOI2_CL5527015_QB6363222_REV02_user_low_s hip
I just got a brand new Atrix and tried to set up finger print security. I got to the enrollment screen but nothing happened when I swiped my finger. No messages and no check boxes to tally the swipes. I looked at the forum and there was a long discussion about flakey fingerprint operation but many responses said that a reboot resolved the issue so I rebooted. Sure enough, now when I try to enroll, it recognizes a swipe but then gives the following error "Enrollment Error. You seem to have swiped a finger that has already been enrolled. Let's start over. Be sure to swipe a different finger." So I'm not happy right off the bat! The "Clear stored fingerprints" menu entry is greyed out, so it seems to have captured a fingerprint at the start but not recognized it, and now I can't clear it.
I've been noticing lately my fingerprint scanner getting extremely hot lately. Almost too hot to touch. I've wiped the phone and reinstalled the OS (Gingerbread 2.3.4) and all updates. I've cleaned the scanner with a q-tip and a small amount of rubbing alcohol. I'm not sure what else to try, or if I even should try anything else. Should I just file a claim or is this something that's not covered?
having issues with the fingerprint scanner after upgrading to 4.1.83? I was on 4.1.57, and did the upgrade to 4.1.83 yesterday. This has happened a 3 or 4 times now, where it will no longer register attempted fingerprint scans and I have to unlock with the swipe + numeric code fallback option. It just displays "Swipe finger sensor.", and no matter how many times I swipe my finger, it continues to display that message. I don't get a "Swipe was too fast" or "Finger did not verify...". It seems to just stop working. If I reboot the phone, it works again, until after a while it just randomly stops working again. I have a workaround, but I was curious if anyone else was seeing this behavior after a 4.1.83 upgrade. I found it strange, because the update doesn't mention anything about the fingerprint scanner, but of course that doesn't mean they didn't tweak something with that module.
Just curious what AT&T's thinking was behind the lack of a fingerprint scanner on this phone. For me, that's one of my favorite things about the Atrix. I must be in the minority on this I supppose.
My phone has been stuck in reboot loop for the last 2 days. I had powered it off on the plane and when i turn on...it keeps rebooting itself after the "Rethink Possible" screen ends. I let the battery drain and still after charging it keeps on rebooting. I am running the phone on "Safe Mode" and only able to run basic Android apps like Gmail, Phone, Gtalk, Camera, etc. All 3rd party apps in Safe mode do not work.
My Atrix has the latest update applied and has started recently showing the following error message:"com.motorola.service.main had stopped unexpectedly" Touching ok returns to the home screen for 1 second and the error reappears. This makes the phone unusable.I have performed a factory reset and the error was away for 24 hrs but now it has reappeared.
Would like to use scanner but don't understand why the security lock timer is disabled (greyed out) so I use the pattern instead so I can utilize the lock timer.
I've used the OS5 Blackberry Messenger to scan QR codes on my Bold 9700 and it worked great. Upload OS6 and now it just pops back to the Messenger screen. I've tried soft reboots and hard reboots without any success.
Does anybody know a decent Freeware PDF reader (except Adobe PDF reader, Actually i don't want to pay for that otherwise its great) for 5230??? and i was also wondering why it (AdobePDF) is not installed by default in 5230? even it was present on n70, n73, n95 8GB, any thoughts?
Im in an endless respring loop and cannot break out of it. i have tried everything i know... details below
(3gs on 3.1.2, new baseband, with 3.1.3 backed up on cydia...and im running windows XP)
here is what happend:
--tried to set file permissions for the calender app bc it was not letting me add new apointments after SSHing the file from another phone
--used ifile to 1st: private/var/mobile/Library/Calendar (i went one step further) as far as i could go before an edit, then clicked the blue arrow and while the permissions was root, i noticed that it set to read and write only. so i changed this to RWE.
--went back to calendar tried to add a new apt -- no go, didnt work
--back to ifile 2nd: private/var/mobile/Library/Calendar (one step less than the first time) clicked the blue arrow and saw that permissions was mobile. so i changed that to root.
--closed ifile opened SBsettings, and clicked respring. i thought maybe this would cause the changes to take effect. i hit respring three times before it respnded... then it resprung to the sad iphone
--from the sad iphone it has been caught in the respring loop. it goes from the sad iphone to my normal lock screen (i dont run any lockscreen apps).
here is what i have done so far:
--i replaced the Calendar.sqlitedb file with the old (presumably good) file from the old phone via SSH. this seemed to help a little in that now i was able to slide the slider but still, nothing, just back to the loop.
--i attempted to restore from backup in itunes. after about 10 minutes, nothing was happening; the phone continued to loop and itunes seemed to make no progress. so i disconnected the wire.
--i held down the home and sleep buttons until the phone powered down. holding down just the sleep/power button only caused the screen to dim, but the loop continued.
--once the power was off, i turned it back on and ran blackra1n from recovery mode. phone returned to loop.
--powered down again, same method and once in recovery mode, connected to itunes. itunes said it had to restore before it could do anything. i disconnected...
--ran blackra1n again, and once more while back in the loop, and still nothing. but now when i slide, i am seeing the error message about mobile substrate, however, it does not fully appear in that the phone starts to respring before anything can happen. i have been sliding the slider and each time the screen stops at a different level, meaning that i can see the icon animation but the respring stops it at various points. while writing this, i got a text message. it displayed, and then disappeared on the next respring.
Should i do a full hard reset, should i delete stuff via SSH, DFU, i dont know, but it seems like the phone is still intact enough not to need a full restore (which would = re-jailed...).
I purchased an Inateck All in One card reader to view pictures from a SD card reader. How do I use it to view pictures that are on my SD card? Where do I find them on my phone?
id like to buy one of those over 3000mah batteries for my atrix 2 , but where i live i can only find this batteries for the atrix 4g and im not sure if it works on the atrix 2.
I just got the droid turbo yesterday. I am trying to download my pics from my old phone with a Transcend RDP9 card reader but it is not being recognized. Nothing happens when I plug it in. The light on the reader comes on but nothing on the phone.
