Seems like ever since I updated to GB, every morning when I wake up and grab my phone and swipe the fingerprint reader, it doesn't respond at all for the first 5, 6, or 7 swipes, or about 10 seconds.Then it will suddenly respond and unlock my phone. Just wanted to find out if anyone else is having a similar problem before I call tech support, and if you were able to fix it somehow.

and redoing my fingerprint. It will not recognize a new swipe when I try to do it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having a very strange problem with the fingerprint reader. The problem started occasionally, but now is almost permanent. When at the lock screen, without even touching the sensor, I get the message "Swipe was too fast". It will instantaneously flash back to say "Swipe finger sensor", but usually flashes back so quickly to the "too fast" message you can't even see the "swipe" message. This pretty much prevents it from reading my finger swipes, although every once it a while I can break in.
I have tried many power cycles, pulling the battery, cleaning the sensor, all with no luck. In fact, I can do a clean power cycle, never touch the finger sensor at all, and when it finishes booting, it is already in the infinite loop. I even tried forgetting all fingerprint settings and re-registering, and most of the time as soon as I got to the screen to start reading my swipes, it would register all illegal swipes even before I ever attempted one. (After many tries, I was able to finally get through the re-register step).
To me it very much feels like a hardware issue with the sensor, but I'm wondering if anyone has seen anything similar as my searches have not turned up anything quite like this problem.
I have a fairly stock Atrix, build 4.5.91, with a decent share of apps, but no lauchers, lockers, task killers, and nothing in the auto-end list.
I have a Galaxy SM-G920A S6 fully stock that was on 5.0.2. I recently got a update OTA for it to 5.1.1. Of course this update failed to load for some reason. I then downloaded the stock update 5.1.1 unmodified firmware and flashed it via Odin. Worked perfect. Then I tried using it for my fingerprint and this error came up. I've tried rebooting of course. I tried resetting through recovery and wiping cache but it the error still pops up when I use anything related to the fingerprint reader.
Methods that I tried to use to Fix:I read on a past thread, that if you disable the fingerprint service in application manager and then reboot and then enable, it fixes the issue. I tried that and it was the same thing. I've been reading a few Xda threads and it seems like there is no real fix for this. I'm not sure if this is related more to Denim update or enabling "Hey Cortana" but now, when I press the power on button I see the top indicators show up immediately, then after about 10 seconds the rest of the main screen displays.. Subsequently, pressing power off/on will resume immediately, but after a few minutes the same behavior occurs again.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just got a brand new Atrix and tried to set up finger print security. I got to the enrollment screen but nothing happened when I swiped my finger. No messages and no check boxes to tally the swipes. I looked at the forum and there was a long discussion about flakey fingerprint operation but many responses said that a reboot resolved the issue so I rebooted. Sure enough, now when I try to enroll, it recognizes a swipe but then gives the following error "Enrollment Error. You seem to have swiped a finger that has already been enrolled. Let's start over. Be sure to swipe a different finger." So I'm not happy right off the bat! The "Clear stored fingerprints" menu entry is greyed out, so it seems to have captured a fingerprint at the start but not recognized it, and now I can't clear it.

For example when I wake up in the morning, I see the WiFi symbol and the network connectivity symbol. The data symbol in the middle (H+, E or G) is missing. It sometimes won't turn on all day unless I switch the airplane mode on and off.

I've wiped the phone and reinstalled the OS (Gingerbread 2.3.4) and all updates. I've cleaned the scanner with a q-tip and a small amount of rubbing alcohol. I'm not sure what else to try, or if I even should try anything else. Should I just file a claim or is this something that's not covered?

I was on 4.1.57, and did the upgrade to 4.1.83 yesterday.This has happened a 3 or 4 times now, where it will no longer register attempted fingerprint scans and I have to unlock with the swipe + numeric code fallback option. It just displays "Swipe finger sensor.", and no matter how many times I swipe my finger, it continues to display that message. I don't get a "Swipe was too fast" or "Finger did not verify...". It seems to just stop working.If I reboot the phone, it works again, until after a while it just randomly stops working again. I have a workaround, but I was curious if anyone else was seeing this behavior after a 4.1.83 upgrade. I found it strange, because the update doesn't mention anything about the fingerprint scanner, but of course that doesn't mean they didn't tweak something with that module.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIts simply is that when I press the fingerprint sensor to bring the screen on, it starts yelling 'Swap too fast/too slow' bla bla bla BEFORE any actual fingerprint scan and it keeps doing it until I pres the sensor again to turn screen off. Tried disabling and enabling it, cleaned the sensor hardware gently but nothing has helped so far........Its Atrix 4G (till 4G i assume all parts will already go, just 4G will be left) on gingerbread 2.3.4...GB version.

View 2 Replies View RelatedFor the last few days, I've had a hard time waking up my Atrix. I push the power button and it doesn't react. I push it a few more times, and eventually it wakes up and works normally. My first thought was that the power/wake button was becoming defective, but I can press it many times in a row and it will sleep, wake, sleep wake, etc. No problems.
Then today I noticed my phone was shut off completely after I returned home from being out.
I booted it back up and the battery was showing 50%, so it clearly wasn't a low battery shutdown. I have apps that can monitor the system, and I've not found any that are using a lot of CPU or battery, so I'm not sure what the issue could be.
Is there any sort of a log I can look at, to try to determine the cause of the phone shutting off?
I can hardly turn pages or zoom. It takes forever to turn a single page too. What is the issue? How do I get rid of it??

I'll receive a notification for a message, tap the notification, then hold my finger over the scanner to unlock and go directly to the app that notified me. The phone unlocks fine, and I'm taken directly to the app (usually Facebook or SMS)
Normally, the first thing I'll want to do is reply to the message for which I was notified, so I'll tap in the text field but receive no response. It sometimes takes several seconds for the phone to respond and display the Google keyboard. This doesn't occur with the Samsung keyboard.
Anyone having issues with wifi disconnecting after the screen switches off for a bit ( I have the wifi sleep policy set to 'never' ), and waking up the phone - it lags quite a bit?
All this - after updating to 1.83! Or am I just the unlucky one when it comes to this device?
So I am a total noob here, I purchased my XOOM 3 days ago and already I am totally frustrated and annoyed with Motorola and there customer service, or the lack there of. It's beyond me how a 6Sigma company who holds their suppliers to such strict standards can have so little regard for their customers and their level of satisfaction.With that off my chest, I wonder if any of you bright individuals can help me out. As I said I purchased my Xoom 3 days ago and after unpacking it I wanted to put my SD card in to retrieve some pictures and other files from my old tablet. I found the slot and removed the plastic piece and saw there was something written in it. It said "Replace with Micro SD only after Android system update". I thought that was odd but went ahead and started the update to 3.1. Well it has been downloading ever since and is now at a whopping 3%.
My Wi-Fi connection appears good and fast, I can download apps from the market in seconds and the web is quick.I started a service call regarding this; you can probably guess how that is going, even though they say, once you jump through all the hoops, that you will receive a reply within one business day. Apparently I am unfamiliar with what constitutes a 'business day'.
I have just updated to 3.1 and my tablet has now slowed right down. It now takes time for the tablet to realise I am trying to switch screen if I try and swipe between home screens, but the graphics are faster than previously which is odd. The major problem for me is that typing has slowed down and become less responsive. I just tried to buy an app from the Android market, and it couldn't keep up with me putting my card number in. I then tried to type in other applications to see if it was just typing generally that was causing the problem which it is. Restart did not fix it either. This effectively makes the tablet unusable for me as the typing speed is unreasonably slow.

I also loved the original Atrix, but with so many software issues on their latest update, and much complaining to AT&T that since Mototola's fix was to say forget it and make the Atrix 2, that should be my fix...I got AT&T to give me the Atrix 2 for free!!.Like I said I like this phone just as much as the original Iphone. So when I went in for my upgrade in August, instead of getting the Iphone 4 like everyone (and knowing the I4S was around the corner) I wanted something different. I get new phones all the time. The Atrix and Atrix 2 have been my favorites. I've had 0 issues.So if anyone knows if theres any software updates in the works, which im sure I get automatically anyway, let me know!
