I've only just bought the Nokia 1520 and its my first smart phone experience.... When I call one of those service lines where you have to press numbers from a Menu - like '1' for enquiries, '2' for help desk etc - I pull up the screen keypad in the call window and tap the number but it doesn't seem to register.
View 2 RepliesConsidering upgrade from Windows 7.5 device (not Nokia) and looking at 820 or 920, but really like speed, integration and features of Bing Maps - looking at reviews/comments, removing the menu item for Bing Maps is putting me off the Nokia and pushing me towards the HTC!Why not have both available on the phone? You have the codee there so it does not affect the underlying platform. User choice is and should be king on these devices, so why remove the Bing Maps option? This must be a simple fix for you to do.... so make yourself another customer, and a load of people out there happier by adding the menu item back in ---- you don't have to have it pinned to the start menu by default, just available for those of us who want to use it instead of -- or as well as -- Nokia Maps.

So I am wondering if there is an app that will turn on the WiFi Calling feature when my phone connects to my home WiFi and turns off the WiFi Calling feature when I get out of range of my home WiFi.
I'm noticing that Google really likes to sync in the background throughout the day. Any good way to automatically sync my accounts(mainly Google and Samsung) only when I'm connected to Wifi and External Power? I'd like a simple way to do this hopefully without needing to root the S6.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am facing the issue regarding a lag with when trying to unlock with the slider button and with the unlock pattern, and when trying to answer calls sliding the button.But, for example, if I am doing something on the phone and somebody calls me, the slide answer button works without a problem, as well as the pattern definition in the security settings. So, since this only appends when the phone is in sleep mode, more than with the tasks themselves, I guess this lag might be related with the internal process to turn it back on. It seems that it takes something like 4 to 5 seconds to start to work properly. One other thing, after the restore of the OS, during the initial configuration, when I first connected the audio jack, inadvertently I have defined an incorrect task (opening a web page).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've downloaded the trial version of Beejive and want to install it. I am using OS 4.6.1.231 and am using the latest Blackberry Desktop program (v5.0.1). The instructions to install Beejive say to connect my BB to my comp and choose the application loader to add Beejive. I then "Browse" to the alx file and click on it.Fine. I do all that and then click on "next." I then see that I will I be reinstalling all the programs that have check marks by them. I decide I just want to install Beejive only so I go back and untick the apps I want to leave alone but there is only "remove" or "install" and that unticking one would result in its removal. Is installing Beejive through BB Desktop the only way to get it to work? Is there no way to go to get a jad file and download that for an automated install?

When the automated machine answers and tells me to enter my pin number, my phone still displays "Calling <number>..." as if it is still dialing. As a result, other than the pound key, all other keys on the numpad are locked and do not work. Only option I have is to press the "End Call" button.Are there any workarounds/solutions for this? The phone thinks it is still dialing even when the other side has picked up so I cannot use the numpad.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have three Lumia phones, a 920, a 1020, and a 1520. With each I just attach a USB, copy the camera roll files to my PC. With the first two, I open the video mp4 files on the PC and Windows Media player has no problem. Not so with the 1520, with any video file copied to the PC, it says: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." Again, the same video file plays fine on the 1520 that shot it.On the PC, Quicktime and Movie Maker choke on video files too. I tried a hard reset of the 1520 but it did nothing.

Previously on standard cell phones, I would dial the phone number, insert "ppp" for pauses while the auto attendant would prompt the next step. There are 3 series of number to get all the way in. Example would be: 800-555-5555ppp555ppp5555ppp5555 and I would be in to retrieve messages.
I have tried a few different options and have be unsuccessful.My carrier is AT&T.BB is a Bold 9700.Does anyone have any suggestions??
When listening to the Music app on my 1520 (16 GB ATT) and using my headphones, sometimes the volume will randomly get louder then quieter in a rhythmic motion.
It does not go from 0 to 30, its more like 5 up, then 5 down. The actual numbers of the volume stay the same, but I can definitely tell there is an increase and decrease. I've encountered this a few times from different artists (so it is not a style of the artist). Also, it seems to happen whenever the headphones are accidentally pulled out mid-song. After the song is over, the next song seems to be fine. Is there a work around other than waiting for the next song?

The "Checking for updates..." message will appear, but more than five minutes later, nothing happens. When the lock screen appears and I unlock it, it now says "Your phone is updated" but the "Last checked" date was the date of the last check when things are still ok.

Same thing happens when she calls others and they all complain they can hardly hear her. After 5 or 6 secs into the call the volume gets a little louder but not as loud as it should be. She even set it to full level at 10. I asked her to connect a headset/earphones while on the call and that actually worked and the volume was loud and clear but as soon as she unplugs the earphones, the volume drops to a very low level.

View 2 Replies View RelatedRunning the latest DP build of WP 8.1 (8.10.12397.895) and, of course, would like to downgrade back to WP 8 so I can get the Cyan update.
Problem is that my phone is not being recognized on any computer I plug it into.
I've tried two Win 8.1 machines, a Win 2K12 and a Win 7. On all of them, I've completely uninstalled all of the Nokia software (three of the four machines had never had the software installed) and then reinstalled both the NSU and NSU for Retail. No go.
I did a reset on my phone. No go.
I removed both the SIM and the SD card. No go.
I've toggled the hidden USB settings on the phone. No go.
I've rebooted the phone upteen times. No go.
The phone is simply not being detected by the desktop OS and is not being installed on the computer.
I've tried everything I can think of to get this to work.
I am a new Lumia 1520 owner and had been using an iPhone prior. On iPhone, I could take a screen shot just by pressing two buttons simultaneously and it would do so. With the Lumia, it seems I can only save a photo that's displaying on my screen. But what if I wanna take a screen shot of a text message conversation.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently screwed my phone by placing the phone in window for network coverage during rain. As the rain water spilled over it and few drops got it and brought me some weird issue.
1) Capacitive lights are not working . Only back arrow light didn't work.
2) Mic also not working.
I take it to Nokia care and got it fixed without warranty since it is two year old.And the technician told be that he changed many spare parts and he make use of 1320 spare and got it fixed. And now I feel my phone is getting very hot while charging and warm during normal usage in the top right corner of back side. I don't see heating issue on my other Lumia 1320 and 640 xl
After I press the on/off button or after the screen times out, I've noticed that after some amount of time the phone will have turned back on by itself. I then noticed that it was actually rebooting. I think it may have started doing this after I installed the VLCPlayer app.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recently bought a 1520 (a HK variant with GBIE firmware) and on inserting a giffgaff sim I can only access 3g/4g (there is no 4g in my area so it shifts to 2g then back to 3g, 3g signal isn't great).
Any way to enable access to 2g in the settings, if this is going to be changed in denim or if it is best to change the firmware version?
