Lumia 1520 :: Cannot Press Anything Or Exit Search Screen
Nov 22, 2013I am having a debilitating issue with the 1520. The bing search window popping up when my hand is no where near the search button. It exits me out of any app I am in and in some cases it freezes and I cannot press anything or exit the search screen. I have the Belkin folio wallet case and I noticed when closing the case it activates the search button. I lowered the touch sensitivity and this seemed to remedy that issue however the constant pop up of the bing search screen continues. I am going to do a wipe and reset of the device. Perhaps I have a lemon or maybe this device is not ready for primetime?

Apr 20, 2014My 1520 now has the Bing search menu keep popping up. It has dine this now many many times and often freezes the phone on that display. I have had it do this without even touching the screen. Just reading an article and out if nowhere it pops up. The only way to resume is to turn the screen off and back on. Its getting annoying and only seemed to do this after the last update, not windows 8.1, just the last regular update. I also get the screen shaking up and down sometimes and have to turn the screen off then back on. The screen contents will start shaking violently up and down. I have done the soft reboot several times and gone into the Bing settings to turn off but it still does this. I should have never updated this phone. It worked brilliantly before it. What's next, hard reboot?

Oct 10, 2014I've just noticed that the Lumia 1520 (brand new, bought last week) sometimes has the haptic feedback/vibrations turn off by itself when pressing the navigation buttons on the phone. However, they are set to on, in the 'touch' settings (running Lumia cyan now).
When I do a soft reset, the buttons start working for a with vibration, then stop (just to note, they work, just the haptic goes wonky). I tried giving the phone a call - the vibration still works, just doesn't seem to work.

Jan 21, 2015My 1520 acts so weird and, honestly, irritating as well.It sometimes touches on its own the search button which in turn brings up Cortana again and again tens of times and sometimes the back button gets clicked without being touched which in turn brings up the open apps list or whatever it's called.It happens so often and when it does, it causes me to seriously consider hitting the phone, although I've waited almost 6 months for it to come.

Jul 25, 2012I have the Lumia 710 with OS version 7.10.8773.98. I believe it is updated to the latest. I see that there is still no way to search for text within SMS? The issue is that I have more than 100 SMSes of which some are from service providers whose number is not stored in my contacts obviously. And everytime I need some information from a particular SMS, there is no way to search for it other than scroll through each SMS till I find it. This way, I have accidently deleted important SMSes that I needed.

2. I would like to be alble to search all my emails that are in inbox so I selected downloda emails: all(my translation may be not accurate) is sync settings. That coused the phone to download all my emails from my google account that is approx. 10000 messages. Now the search function in mail app is super slow (like 30 seconds to display anything). I changed the sync options to sync only emails from last month but it didnt change anything.

Jan 14, 2015I got an Icon from an eBay store, called "reconditioned" but looked new to me. I used it for a day or two and then enabled PFD (couldn't go another day without it :) and the next day noticed the search button no longer lit up. Finally did a hard reset but no diff. So: hardware failure, return for replacement (they're good about that) or possibly software, wait for Denim?

Nov 30, 2015On 8.1, you had a music icon at the top right for Cortana which basically acted as a built in Shazam to identify music. Currently the only way I know you can access that is to hit the microphone icon with Cortana so she's "listening" for you. At that point, the music icon appears in the top right.
The problem is, when I'm in my car and I hear a song on the radio, hitting that microphone turns off the music because I'm connected to my car via bluetooth. Is there a way around this?

Apr 12, 2015I have three Lumia phones, a 920, a 1020, and a 1520. With each I just attach a USB, copy the camera roll files to my PC. With the first two, I open the video mp4 files on the PC and Windows Media player has no problem. Not so with the 1520, with any video file copied to the PC, it says: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." Again, the same video file plays fine on the 1520 that shot it.On the PC, Quicktime and Movie Maker choke on video files too. I tried a hard reset of the 1520 but it did nothing.

Dec 30, 2015when try to search for something as usual: one click on the search button, Cortana opens, then type something, use the arrow or the web search touch button; Cortana closes itself! I did two soft resets, (long pressing the power button, that's what it does right?) Same behavior. web search suggestions are working fine. whenever I click on one of them it closes itself. I think it just started today.
I have unlocked 950/dual-sim/usa/ build xx.29 / no firmware upgrade. When I open edge and do the search in the address line it works, opens bings for the search phrase.

Feb 11, 2012Trying to use app Map on Lumia 800 I am not able to find the search icon on the map allowing me to search for a place or business or shops etc. The only available icon is the search icon outside the map which only is used to search internet giving me a list of links which can not be connected to the map. Feb 9, 2015When listening to the Music app on my 1520 (16 GB ATT) and using my headphones, sometimes the volume will randomly get louder then quieter in a rhythmic motion.
It does not go from 0 to 30, its more like 5 up, then 5 down. The actual numbers of the volume stay the same, but I can definitely tell there is an increase and decrease. I've encountered this a few times from different artists (so it is not a style of the artist). Also, it seems to happen whenever the headphones are accidentally pulled out mid-song. After the song is over, the next song seems to be fine. Is there a work around other than waiting for the next song?

Jul 23, 2014I've been pressing the "Check for updates" button frequently in anticipation for Cyan, but suddenly it's not working right. The "Checking for updates..." message will appear, but more than five minutes later, nothing happens. When the lock screen appears and I unlock it, it now says "Your phone is updated" but the "Last checked" date was the date of the last check when things are still ok.
