Jul 27, 2013On my 920 when composing an email there was always an option at bottom to search server for the address on a gmail account, it's missing on the 1020.

Jun 18, 2010When I get an email I like how the blackberry automatically opens up the email application if I pull it out of the holster.The only problem is that it pulls up the Messages inbox and not my gmail account inbox.Any way to fix this or do anything about it? I have the gmail enhanced plugin if that makes a difference.Also on a totally unrelated note is there a way to search the gmail server from the gmail plugin app?

I thought it was my school email address and changed it to what my school's server should be. Now I'm having sync issues. Also, would this cause me not to be able to download music from Music+ app?

Aug 30, 2013Just got a Lumia 1020 and am coming from a Blackberry. The microsoft account I created will sync email automatically but the Gmail (my main/work email account) does not have the option. Right now the fastest I can get it to sync is at 15 minute intervals. I have a friend with a 920 whose Gmail will sync automatically. Is this a 1020 issue? I may have to return the phone if I can't resolve this issue.

Oct 14, 2013I had a L920 before this, performed the back up of the old phone and such. When I first turned on my L1020, I skipped the full back up process as I did not have Wifi available to download all the apps and etc. My contacts however, were all there on the initial set up. After I got home later in the afternoon, I reset my L1020 and restarted the process to get the full back up from the original L920. All my apps, messages and even Facebook contacts got added back on. However, I have no contacts in terms of phone numbers and such. I still have those details on my L920. Is there any way of getting the contacts on L1020 besides manual??

I also have the contacts in vcf format but again, can't find anything relating to importing these to the Lumia.
It's a great phone so far, but ultimately pretty useless if I can't get any contacts in there!

Feb 27, 2014So despite my last thread where I was worried about missing some features I picked up the Icon. So far, I'm enjoying it a lot, aside from the fact I can't get my gmail contacts to sync. I've been googling and searching this forum for an answer and it appears I'm doing everything right, they just don't sync. I've deleted and re-added the account, with a restart in the middle.. nothing. I've changed the cardDAV server to m.google.com and Google and nothing. Any way besides a hard reset? It's pretty frustrating not having most of my contacts.

Lumia 1020 :: How To Transfer SIM Contacts To New Android Phone
Jan 23, 2016I recently got an LG V10 (I know, I know, I hated giving up Windows Phone but I had to), and the ATT store was unable to transfer my SIM contacts to my new phone. The SIM from my 1020 was larger than the SIM for the V10, and apparently it's not possible for them to use their software to transfer SIM contacts off of Windows phone because of software restrictions.
I'd really like to get my contacts from my old SIM card transferred to my new phone but I can't figure out how to do it. I connected my 1020 to my computer but I can't find the SIM contacts anywhere in the file directory.

I'm not overly concerned about the so-called app gap but I'm curious to hear stories from others who have made this move and how you may have handled moving all of your google contacts and calendar appointments to a Microsoft account. Now when I try to refresh my contacts in Watsapp I see nothing, but most of my contacts use watsapp. And when I recieve a contact over watsapp from a friend of mine and when I try to save it, the people app asks me where do I want to save my contact in which account (hotmail or google)? is it normal? Cause I am not able to save it on phone directly and I guess watsapp wouldn't take the contacts that are stored in a account, it has to be on phone.

But seriously, I have been able to get gmail (web) working with my new double authentication password(s). Also, my outlook for MAC is working using the special "generated App Password". (because Outlook cannot do the double authentication thingie)Ditto for the gmail app from google on my iPhone. (it works too).BUT I cannot get the iPhone Mail App to connect to Gmail.
I have deleted (i thought) my existing gmail setup from my iPhone. When I try to re establish the gmail settings, using either the password generated by the MAC / iCloud keychain generator or the App password, I get the message "My Name" is already added.
It looks to me that there is something in the iPhone that matches my gmail address, even though I deleted the account.Â

The previous email app which is no longer supported by Lollipop allowed one to delete an email from the app without deleting it from the server (Comcast) if it was a POP account. This was handy because it removed clutter from my phone inbox but allowed me to read and reply to the same email on my desktop (POP email). Just now I read and then deleted an email (Comcast) from the GMail app and attempted to read and reply to that email on my desktop. Horrors. It's gone. It doesn't appear in my email client (Thunderbird) nor on the server.
I could not find any way to change that behavior in GMail under settings. The missing emails are in the trash folder on the phone but I couldn't figure out a way to transfer them back to the inbox or even less likely to get them back on the server. I will now, of course, be careful not to delete any email messages from GMail but I wonder if any way to change the behavior of the app?

Apr 16, 2012everything has been fine until today. I tried to upload and send a photo from an app, but while attaching to a mail i decided to cancel it. Since then for some reason now my iphone is unable to update the mail app with my google mail. I tried deleting the account, restartng the phone, and entering all my details in again. but everytime i get the same error about cannot contact imap server or something.
