Lumia 1520 :: Phone Freezing / Rebooting Or Becoming Unstable
Nov 17, 2014While I love the Hardware , Windows 8.1 and apps still make using the 1520 problematical, I've had it for about 9 months but will probably go back to IOS or Android when I hit my upgradability, about 4 times yesterday when I was at an event where I need to take pictures the phone using kept rebooting on me, it may have been the cold it was about 32 degrees, but it really makes it difficult to use the phone in meaningful ways when apps and the OS do not behave, and it's little things like the phone freezing, rebooting or becoming unstable that make it hard to stay with the 1520 no matter how much I love the HW.

- I tried to perform a factory reset + wipe cache partition;
- Tried to use it in safe mode - still had issues;
- It is even sometimes freezing on boot menu (power+vol_up+home)
I had stock 5.1.1 on it, but if I remember correctly, then it was happening also before 5.1.1, but not 100% what version I had. About 3 weeks ago I had same issue, but then after factory reset it was gone for 2 weeks and last friday again faced with this issue.

Jun 22, 2011I swapped iphone with my cousin, for a blackberry torch, the phone not that old, 6 months max, but the last week the phone started freezing and crushing, so i looked on fourms, and ended up doing a fresh install off the Os and formated the memory card and did not save the old settings.
But the phone kept on doing the same thing, so i wiped the Os, installed the most uptodate Os i could find, and it still keeps on crashing and sometimes it will do this as the phone loads, as it finishes loading up, or after couple hours.
So its safe to say, it cant be a app, or Os playing up.
Also the main thing i have noticed if the phone stays nice and cool, the phone will work fine, but once the phone warms up a little bit, thats when it starts to crash/freeze/reboot, but sometimes the phone will not turn on after putting the battery back, you have to leave the phone for 5 mins or so.
Could it be a type off thermal cut off to protect the phone? or battery? But the only thing i cant understand is, the phone or battery dont get hot, just warm.

May 31, 2014Something weird has started happening to my Nokia Icon. It's been working great but lately I wake up to a frozen phone! I go to sleep, and it's working normally, then in the morning I push the "wake" button and the screen comes on, usually showing a time from a few hours earlier, and then it's frozen. I have to do a reset to restart the phone and then it works fine. I thought at first it was because I was leaving it on the charging pillow but it happens even if it's just sitting on the table.

Dec 12, 2013Just today (16 days after I received my Lumia 1520), my phone now reboots/restarts continuously. I've tried the soft reset but no luck. I have not tried the hard reset - yet. I search online and this appears to have occurred on other Lumia devices and as far as I can tell, there is not fix for this.

Aug 24, 2014My 1520 has been driving me nuts lately. I'll be using it and then it was start going crazy. For example, I'll be watching a video and suddenly it will start vibrating as is I'm hitting the navigation keys and it will act as if someone has hit the back button a few times, then the home button, and then Cortana. It always freezes after this and I either have to wait 10 minutes or so to get the touch screen or navigation buttons to respond (volume, camera and lock button all work fine), or I have to soft reset the phone. Sometimes I can go a few hours and be fine, sometimes it will start doing this every 10 minutes.
It started doing it shortly after I got the 8.1 update, so I thought it may be related. I did a hard reset and then used the Nokia recovery tool and am still having the problems.

The Album can't be open because if u do it freezes and crash, sometimes even make the phone restart and you can't acess any content besides the config.
Netflix have some weird lags too, and sometimes when i receive i call, the led blinks, the smartband vibrates, but the phone freezes, and restart.
Sometimes the Camera app and File Commander crashes too. But sometimes, it starts fine, and if u don't reboot or turn it off, will work normally
i already tried to reset to the factory (In the Phone and by the Computer), remove the SD, clear cache from the apps, uninstall the antivirus, install the antivirus, uninstall all apps, boot in safemode...
To me, really sounds like a software problem... Sometimes it doesn't recognize by the PC when i connect, it only recognize if is working normally.

Oct 5, 2014I have had my phone since march. I really like it but lately I have to restart it about once a week. Yesterday the battery got really hot and it kept showing resume on the screen. I turned it off and then back on and it was fine. Other times it acts like the back button is being pressed all the time, and sometimes the phone is just unresponsive to anything. Restarting it seems to fix it but only for a short time.

Apr 20, 2014My 1520 now has the Bing search menu keep popping up. It has dine this now many many times and often freezes the phone on that display. I have had it do this without even touching the screen. Just reading an article and out if nowhere it pops up. The only way to resume is to turn the screen off and back on. Its getting annoying and only seemed to do this after the last update, not windows 8.1, just the last regular update. I also get the screen shaking up and down sometimes and have to turn the screen off then back on. The screen contents will start shaking violently up and down. I have done the soft reboot several times and gone into the Bing settings to turn off but it still does this. I should have never updated this phone. It worked brilliantly before it. What's next, hard reboot?

Lumia 1020 :: Phone Blurry Edges On Photos And Rattling When Shaking The Phone
Oct 15, 2013I recently bought a Nokia 1020 and i suspect that there are something wrong with the camera. The quality of the photos that i take are, in my opinion, nowhere near the ones you can se in reviews and those released by Nokia.
To me it looks like it's only the middle part of every photo that is correctly focused. The edges are very blurry. I have no case on the phone, no dirt on the lens and i have tried to reset the camera and reboot, no difference.
I will attach some photos on which I think you can see it clearly. The images are very sharp in the middle but when you move towards the edges it quickly becomes blurry. Both pictures are taken in daylight with Nokia Pro Cam, all settings on auto.

Jan 21, 2014New to the Windows mobile phone... I use my Windows phone for business and do a lot of conference calls. With my iPhone I used to be able to put the phone number with three commas and then the passcode to the conference call in the meeting request (format = 555-555-5555,,,12121212#). By using this format my customers could just click the link in their iPhone and it would auto-dial the conference number along with the passcode so that they did not have to remember the passcode while driving.
Example: 555-555-5555,,,12121212#. (autohyperlink for iOS)
VS
555-555-5555 Passcode 12121212 then press # (caller can hyperlink the phone number but has to remember the passcode and dial it while driving...)
By using this format you could just click the number and it would dial the number pause then auto add the passcode and # to enter the conference call. I think Blackberry used to use a similar format to achieve the same thing.

Aug 8, 2014Yesterday, I went running with my Lumia 1020 listening to music and using the Runtastic app. The music stopped - I looked at the phone - it was turned off. I tried powering on, but to no avail. I should also mention that upon leaving, the battery was fully charged and this happened after some 20 minutes. When I came home, I immediately put the phone on the wall charger and expected it to power on after a while. I checked it after 3 hours and nothing, the phone was still stone-dead and what was even more worrying, completely cold - no heat-up from charging.
I tried connecting it to my PC - the computer didn't even recognize ANY device was connected to it. Just to be sure, I tried Nokia Software Recovery Tool, but sure enough, it was not able to detect the phone. The phone seems to be dead meat now, but when I put it on my desk wireless charging stand, the stand's indicator lights up, although the phone does nothing and stays that way.

Today I left my phone at home, I didn't use it and when I tried to pick it up I actually got scared, it was so extremely hot that I thought it will explode. After few seconds I got warning that battery is low but I know that it was around 70% when iI left it(I've left it only for 1 hour). I turned it off so it could cold before I charge it.

Jun 3, 2010I recently bought a Nokia 5230 on T-Mobile and I'm experiencing problems with it freezing and rebooting several times a day.
I have checked to make sure I have the latest software version. I also ensure that I do not have lots of applications open at the same time. There is no particular function that makes the phone do this, ii even does it by itself when I'm not even using it.
Someone told me this was due to T-Mobile putting their own software but is there anything else that could be causing this?

Dec 29, 2012I've upgraded my RAZR MAXX HD to Jelly Bean. It seemed fine at first, and still does while in use, but will freeze and reboot randomly when not in use. It will get to a point where the screen goes dark and the phone will not respond to button presses or bluetooth connections, nor indicate new messages, etc; the phone must be restarted with PWR + VOL UP/DOWN. Oh, and the phone doesn't get hot either. I've tried an FDR (X6), installed only the Google Voice app, and it hasn't helped. I had not a single problem with ICS. I've googled and asked VZW tech support, but no one else seems to be having this problem with the OTA JB update. I grabbed some logs with logcat, but don't see anything. Is there some sleep mode event that occurs after some time or a way to monitor for a memory leak?

Oct 15, 2015I bought a used Lumia 1520 from Amazon a few days ago...been using WP8.1, no problems, so I went ahead and installed the latest Windows 10 Mobile preview last night.
Everything worked fine for about 6 hours, and then the phone started going into endless rebooting loops. About 3 hours ago, it finally booted up, and there was a message on the screen that said "This phone has been locked for security reasons. Please connect to a power source for 2 hours and try restarting".
So I've had it plugged in for the last 3 hours, and now it refuses to boot up at all. When I do the soft reset button combo, the phone vibrates like it's restarting, but then...nothing.
So, I guess I've got two questions:
1. Did Windows 10 Mobile brick my phone, or is it more likely that there was something wrong with the phone from the get go?
2. What additional things I might try for recovery? I have downloaded the Windows Phone Recovery Tool, but without the device powering on, it's basically bupkis.

Dec 18, 2015nokia lumia 1020 has just gone dead no response from the phone tried hard and soft reset nothing happens tried plugging in a charger into charger port on the phone and still nothing before it went off the phone had half battery life in it and was expreincing phone freezing up and the phone slowed down and now wont come on at all i have had the battery replaced and still no joy the phone shop tried to flash the software and no connectivity with computer also the phone shop checked my old battery with another lumia 1020 and that worked so the issue wasnt the battery
