Lumia 1520 :: Phone Sudden Freezing And Not Responding
Aug 24, 2014
My 1520 has been driving me nuts lately. I'll be using it and then it was start going crazy. For example, I'll be watching a video and suddenly it will start vibrating as is I'm hitting the navigation keys and it will act as if someone has hit the back button a few times, then the home button, and then Cortana. It always freezes after this and I either have to wait 10 minutes or so to get the touch screen or navigation buttons to respond (volume, camera and lock button all work fine), or I have to soft reset the phone. Sometimes I can go a few hours and be fine, sometimes it will start doing this every 10 minutes.
It started doing it shortly after I got the 8.1 update, so I thought it may be related. I did a hard reset and then used the Nokia recovery tool and am still having the problems.
Today my Lumia 1520s battery level suddenly dropped 89% to 81% in 10 minutes, then I made a soft reset and the battery level was 82%. Again after 15 minutes I took a look in the battery level and it was 73%.
So I recently gave my 1520 away to someone and it keeps freezing randomly. It never did that with me before. Like literally freezing every few minutes and what not. I never had that issue with my 1520 and now they are having this issue and idk what could be causing it.
While I love the Hardware , Windows 8.1 and apps still make using the 1520 problematical, I've had it for about 9 months but will probably go back to IOS or Android when I hit my upgradability, about 4 times yesterday when I was at an event where I need to take pictures the phone using kept rebooting on me, it may have been the cold it was about 32 degrees, but it really makes it difficult to use the phone in meaningful ways when apps and the OS do not behave, and it's little things like the phone freezing, rebooting or becoming unstable that make it hard to stay with the 1520 no matter how much I love the HW.
I have had my phone since march. I really like it but lately I have to restart it about once a week. Yesterday the battery got really hot and it kept showing resume on the screen. I turned it off and then back on and it was fine. Other times it acts like the back button is being pressed all the time, and sometimes the phone is just unresponsive to anything. Restarting it seems to fix it but only for a short time.
My 1520 now has the Bing search menu keep popping up. It has dine this now many many times and often freezes the phone on that display. I have had it do this without even touching the screen. Just reading an article and out if nowhere it pops up. The only way to resume is to turn the screen off and back on. Its getting annoying and only seemed to do this after the last update, not windows 8.1, just the last regular update. I also get the screen shaking up and down sometimes and have to turn the screen off then back on. The screen contents will start shaking violently up and down. I have done the soft reboot several times and gone into the Bing settings to turn off but it still does this. I should have never updated this phone. It worked brilliantly before it. What's next, hard reboot?
I have a Lumia 1520, and everything is awesome, but lately, the phone acts up in the way that the 3 buttons get pushed out of a sudden and screen becomes unresponsive, when not even holding the phone. Restarting works, but only for a period of time. I noticed if the place where the sensor is, near the earpiece, is clean, it does not act up like this. Phone was dropped once, but the problem did not appear util very later - 1-3 months. I used the Nokia Recovery Tool to install and re-install the OS, problem is still there.
The phone ran great for the first 2 weeks, now it's taking it's sweet time for several things. It's acting ok now, but I have moments where it takes 10+ seconds to go to sleep or resume, some apps get stuck loading, and delayed actions when tapping/swiping on the screen. I turned off bluetooth for now, but it ran fine last week so I don't really think it's the issue.
Surely it can't be the My Little Pony game. It's the only thing I have added to the phone in the last week.
I have looked at other threads and I do not have touch or glance installed at all, so those can't be causing it.
This has happened several times lately. Green 1520 less than a month old. Sometimes when I wake up the phone, the screen simply won't respond to touch. It's not a matter of it lagging on waking (which also happens), it flat out won't respond period. I would rather not have to go through getting a replacement already.
So I've been having this issue for a while now, and can't seem to figure out what's causing it. I mainly noticed it after downloading the 8.1 update, but I frequently have issues with the camera freezing when taking pictures. What happens is I will let the autofocus do it's thing, and then when I press the shutter, the autofocus thing stays on the screen, and nothing happens. I've figured out that if I just give it time, it will eventually snap the photo, but no photo is ever saved in the camera roll. I thought it was a thing with my SD card, but it happens when I open the camera fresh too, and not only in taking pictures one after another.
i have firmware 40.0.005 installed on my 5800. While playing radio all of a sudden radio stops responding. I can kill the radio application but have to restart the phone everytime. Otherwise radio doesnot work.
I have a Blackberry Curve 8530. It has been freezing a lot lately. I will press buttons the scroll button and nothing happens, then a minute later or so, it will sort of wake up and start responding again. The email, Facebook, and internet has always been extemely slow, but I think this is because I have only one bar of service most of the time.
The freezing thing happens in a variety of places - when I'm checking emails, trying to open icons from the home page, want to make a call, or most annoyingly, when I need to adjust the volume. Basically, it is having about a 30 second delay on waking up all the time, even when currently in use.
I just added a 32GB SD card to my Lumia 1520. I'd like to move some of the items that are on my phone (photos, music, files for work, etc.) onto the card.
Also, I've seen threads on here that mention issues with music that has been moved to the cards not being playable. I have enough issues with my phone giving error messages on the music app now without adding another complication.
Something weird has started happening to my Nokia Icon. It's been working great but lately I wake up to a frozen phone! I go to sleep, and it's working normally, then in the morning I push the "wake" button and the screen comes on, usually showing a time from a few hours earlier, and then it's frozen. I have to do a reset to restart the phone and then it works fine. I thought at first it was because I was leaving it on the charging pillow but it happens even if it's just sitting on the table.
I just went to watch a video on my 1520 and the sound won't work. I've tried restarting it multiple times but to no avail. When i push the volume rocker, only the head phone slider appears. I I've plugged head phones in and they don't work either.
I recently screwed my phone by placing the phone in window for network coverage during rain. As the rain water spilled over it and few drops got it and brought me some weird issue.
1) Capacitive lights are not working . Only back arrow light didn't work. 2) Mic also not working.
I take it to Nokia care and got it fixed without warranty since it is two year old.And the technician told be that he changed many spare parts and he make use of 1320 spare and got it fixed. And now I feel my phone is getting very hot while charging and warm during normal usage in the top right corner of back side. I don't see heating issue on my other Lumia 1320 and 640 xl
Only charges when plugged in, slow charging notification pops up. No new hardware "ding" sound. No new devices in device manager. No devices with exclamation mark in device manager. No unknown or unrecognized devices in device manager. No devices listed in usb-view
Background : I was on Windows 10 build 10581. Upgraded to 10586. All fine.
Phone showed up and everything. However I wanted to go back to 8.1, so I started up the Windows Device Recovery Tool. It asked for a mandatory update. Updated. It recognized my phone (which was on). Started downloading server side software. I ran out of battery (the laptop), and it shut down. After starting up again, the phone is unrecognizable.
I unintsalled Windows Device Recovery Tool and tried to install again. Error. Several times. Finally after cleaning up everything related to it (RevoUninstaller), I managed to install it again. However, my phone still never is recognized. Uninstalled all Nokia/Microsoft drivers (no luck).
I bought a Lumia 1520.3 from B&H and I cut my sim card down from a micro sim to a nano sim. I know it still works because I put it back in my 920. It says on my 1520.3 says no service in the live tile.
I've recently picked up a 1520 and am now wondering which camera App to use. I haven't taken many pictures in the past but that is likely to change since I will be travelling a lot soon (which admittedly was the main reason to pick up a new device).
I just upgraded to cyan 8.1 two days ago... Did a fresh install. I downgraded to Windows 8 and then install cyan. I DID NOT backup my apps, instead I just installed each app one by one.
Only problem i have is that if my phone is charged past 89% it turns off by itself and i have to hit the power button to power it up. (It only turns off by itself if i leave it alone... but when i'm using it, it works fine.)
I have the unlocked 1520 from Latin America. It came with Cyan out of the box and I installed preview for developers and updated. Trouble is, it doesn't say that I have Denim, yet I have the live app folders feature.
I am thinking about buying Lumia 820 but what worries me is the Hanging and Freezing of phone with memory card in it. Is there any Nokia recommended 32/64 GB memory card which will work without any issue?
My phone was running hot, so I decided to shut it down to cool. Instead of shutting down, though, it rebooted. When it was done, I waited a minute, and tried again. Reboot. Again. Reboot. Finally, decided to try a soft reset and that seemed to fix it. This isn't the first time it decided not to shutdown and restarted instead, but first time it did it three times in a row. At least the soft reset worked. 1520 on 8.1 DP -- hoping the "official" rollout takes care of these little issues.
I transferred 10 pdf files via bluetooth to my lumia 1520. when the last one finished transferring, i opened it via the ntifications menu. The problem i am facing is that , i am only seeing the last opened file in the files menu in adobe reader.
My query is , : How do i view other PDF files in the phone?
I also downloaded Microsofts's PDF reader, but even this app is not able to show the existing files in the phone. How do i see the files present in the phone on connecting to the computer via USB cable, because all i can see is the picture, music and video files .
I received a Nokia 1520.3 that was swapped by Nokia service center yesterday. My old model was Nokia RM-938_Ita_Ita_905 which work fine expect white dots; the new model is Nokia RM-938_nam_canada_104.
The first thing I notice is that my new phone doesn't recognize the T-Mobile LTE, in the Setting, the maximum connection speed is only 3G which I used getting LTE. I also exchanged the SIM card in the T-Mobile store, still the same.
Another thing is, cannot update to Windows phone 8.1. I tried Hard reset, soft reset, use the Nokia Recovery Tool... still cannot get windows phone 8.1 update.
I dropped my Lumina 1520 over the weekend and trashed the screen and digitizer. Somewhat of a shock as it was less than a foot drop and I have the screen and the back protected with Ghost Armor. In any event, I have a new 1520 on the way.
My question is this. How do you transfer the device settings to the new phone? I have the option set to back it up to One Drive. I have not been successful finding a way to "restore" or download those settings.
