Is there anyway to make it so my PC can detect my lumia 1020 so I can move files off/on my phone without the original USB?
The original USB is damaged and doesn't reliably connect/charge and I was wondering if there was anyway for another usb to connect my phone to my PC, or does it have to be the one that came with my phone?
Yesterday, I went running with my Lumia 1020 listening to music and using the Runtastic app. The music stopped - I looked at the phone - it was turned off. I tried powering on, but to no avail. I should also mention that upon leaving, the battery was fully charged and this happened after some 20 minutes. When I came home, I immediately put the phone on the wall charger and expected it to power on after a while. I checked it after 3 hours and nothing, the phone was still stone-dead and what was even more worrying, completely cold - no heat-up from charging.
I tried connecting it to my PC - the computer didn't even recognize ANY device was connected to it. Just to be sure, I tried Nokia Software Recovery Tool, but sure enough, it was not able to detect the phone. The phone seems to be dead meat now, but when I put it on my desk wireless charging stand, the stand's indicator lights up, although the phone does nothing and stays that way.
Used a File app to make up some photo albums for tt and Le Mans classic and in doing so I have lost the ability to open up photo with Nokia camera beta and look at info or even revert back to original photo if the photo has been zoomed. How to get original photos back.

How can i save 2 different edited Photos? When i go back and i want to edit/save another Photo from the original file, it always overwrites the last saved/edited Photo.
When i take a Photo and i edit it, for example i zoom into a area, and save that zoomed part, it always replace the last edited Photo from the original file.

I thought its a bug in preview so I dont really care and use to move data by Remote device manager. Than I got the denim update....then wp 8.1 Update 2.... now windows 10 Technical Preview but my phone didn't recognized. Change many data cables and tried on 3 different laptops with different OS but not get luck. Than I took my laptop and all the data cables I have to the Mobile Phone Market I searched for Lumia 1020. And surprisingly I found 3 devices having update wp 8.1 not any developers preview or windows insider app. They all connected with my laptop instantly with my data cables. My windows 8 laptop does not see my Nokia 1020 phone using usb. It will charge but can't see files. I don't see a setting for usb connectivity function.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI have managed to sinc my Nokia Lumia 1020 and factory car charger with my vehicle radio via Bluetooth and it works fine for phone calls. However, turn-by-turn audible directions do not function when Bluetooth sinc is enabled. Voice commands from the maps are totally silent in this mode. That said, turn-by-turn directions DO work when not connected to Bluetooth, but only then. I am guessing that it is a software issue having to do with the navigation application that I am using and that came standard on this phone, but I do not know that for sure.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've tried literally everything. Multiple USBs and computers. Installing connectivity driver. Restart my phone and computers. When plugged in, the phone will only charge. There is no indication on the computer that a device has been connected (I checked Device Manager and it's nowhere to be found, not even under hidden items). When I plug it into my computer, it's the same as plugging it into a wall outlet. I've read tons of solutions online and tried them all. It makes me think that something has gone wrong with my phone. The issue isn't my computer's USB ports or even the USBs I've tried. It sounds like an issue with my phone. When I first purchased the phone, it was able to sync to the computer and I could transfer pictures from it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Lumia 1020 for about 11 months now and today it stopped charging. If I try to turn on the phone, I can see the low battery indicator. Then the phone will proceed to turn off after a few seconds. I have tried a soft reset by holding down power and volume down at the same time. I can feel a small vibration after 6 seconds of doing this, but otherwise nothing happens. I have tried 2 different chargers, as well as connecting to the USB in the computer.

the most annoying "feature" of the Nokia Lumia 1020 is that it impossible to switch the phone OFF when you don't need it.
This moronic phone decides on its own when to switch ON - as soon as the battery is charged just enough to start it, it tries to start, drains the battery and 5 minutes later tries again to start and keeps repeating this vicious circle to no end.
When you connect to a charger strong enough, it will charge BUT you SIMPLE CAN'T SWITCH IT OFF when you don't need it - this idiotic phone keeps restarting until the battery is drained!!!
There is no way that you can charge the phone and keep it switched off until you need it! Is there a way to keep a charged NOKIA Lumia1020 switched off when you don't need it?
I've tried charging my Nokia 1020 for 8 hours with no luck. After that I tried the 2 key and 3 key reset with no luck as well. I tried to plug it up to my computer but I got nothing there either. I am getting no indication that its charging and I'm starting to think I'm out of options. Is there anything else I can try? I got a data usage warning message the next day, so I made sure it was still connected to wifi - then I got another warning message advising me more charges were being applied to the data plan. I called ATT and explained and was told that the 4GLTE runs all kinds of stuff in the background that uses data and to turn the data off. I did - since then, no more data usage - however - it will not stay connected to wifi after a time out unless it is plugged in. It still shows that its connected to wifi but its not.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a Nokia 1020 and i suspect that there are something wrong with the camera. The quality of the photos that i take are, in my opinion, nowhere near the ones you can se in reviews and those released by Nokia.
To me it looks like it's only the middle part of every photo that is correctly focused. The edges are very blurry. I have no case on the phone, no dirt on the lens and i have tried to reset the camera and reboot, no difference.
I will attach some photos on which I think you can see it clearly. The images are very sharp in the middle but when you move towards the edges it quickly becomes blurry. Both pictures are taken in daylight with Nokia Pro Cam, all settings on auto.

New to the Windows mobile phone... I use my Windows phone for business and do a lot of conference calls. With my iPhone I used to be able to put the phone number with three commas and then the passcode to the conference call in the meeting request (format = 555-555-5555,,,12121212#). By using this format my customers could just click the link in their iPhone and it would auto-dial the conference number along with the passcode so that they did not have to remember the passcode while driving.
Example: 555-555-5555,,,12121212#. (autohyperlink for iOS)
VS
555-555-5555 Passcode 12121212 then press # (caller can hyperlink the phone number but has to remember the passcode and dial it while driving...)
By using this format you could just click the number and it would dial the number pause then auto add the passcode and # to enter the conference call. I think Blackberry used to use a similar format to achieve the same thing.
Yesterday I updated my Lumia 1020 to Lumia Cyan. I've been using WP 8.1.1 with developer preview. Today I left my phone at home, I didn't use it and when I tried to pick it up I actually got scared, it was so extremely hot that I thought it will explode. After few seconds I got warning that battery is low but I know that it was around 70% when iI left it(I've left it only for 1 hour). I turned it off so it could cold before I charge it.
