how I can do a full factory reset and be 100% sure it's done without the use of the screen?My 1020 screen is cracked and doesn't come on at all, there's no way to see what the phone is doing. I want to sell it on ebay for parts but need to ensure all of my data is scrubbed. Is there any way, or any tool, that I can use to connect the phone to my PC and do it that way? Maybe some kind of screen emulator?
View 8 RepliesI was having issues with notifications not work and live tiles not updating so I figured I'd just do a hard reset/factory restore and it'd fix everything. The factory reset started and it's now been almost 4 hours and they are still spinning. I have tried to do some of the tips given for the 920 when it had the same issue but none of them have worked. I also don't know of anyway to reflash/unbrick a 1020.
I've tried: Input these keys on the following sequence, press them one key at a time: Volume up Volume down Power key Volume down...
Phone will not find updates 1020 after factory reset here is what I did.
1. Removed phone from windowsphone.com
2. Did a factory reset on phone
3. Told it to do a new phone from scratch not restore backup
4. Went through all the setup screens reconnected to MS account
5. Phone was reset up on windowsphone.com
I have had the Lumia 1020 for a couple months now and love it but every now and then, at complete random: the screen goes black. I then need to perform a soft reset in order to use the phone again.
I have not completed a factory reset yet, especially since it's still a new phone in all senses. But how I'll likely proceed with the reset and if it happens again: contact warranty to get a replacement.
This happened on both 'Black' and 'Cyan'...
After i did a hard reset to my lumia 1020 which is on lumia black. glance screen has shifted under display+ touch. and now i cant change my night mode clock color and glance has options off,peek,timed and always on. earlier before hard reset i had interval, peek and always on.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo, I tried Windows 10 preview on my Lumia 1020. I decided to return to 8.1, so I downloaded the recovery tool and tried to reinstall 8.1. It couldn't reinstall it, so i wanted to restart the phone, but the screen wast working (actualy the time appeared as the phone was locked, but when i pressed the power button it went dark). Holding down the power button didn't worked at all, so I tried to hard reset it. Now the phone is looped, every time I try to turn it on it just start to load with the gears and it turns of or if connected to a power source restarts. How to get it back working?

There are apps all over the place and I would like to set up a new Windows live account for my wife while at the same time returning the phone to its original factory state.There is nothing on the phone that I need other than contacts which I stored earlier onto the SIM.
If I do a hard reset will the phone return to its previous Vodaphone set up?If so will I have to get the phone unlocked again to be able to use the Virgin Mobile network?
This is very odd.. But after a factory reset Nokia Camera no longer shows the option to enable live images in the settings. Not sure how this could've happened. I came across the app "Lumia Camera Classic" which does allow me to enable this option.

The only thing that has not been working properly, is Bluetooth/wifi, which have been stuck until a reboot (most of the time after beeing bluetooth'ed to my car stereo). Anyway, I did a hard reset to see if that worked. I did not restore from backup, just to make sure i did not transfer any problems.

As expected there were some bugs, so I read online on how to fix them after restarting my phone and doing a soft reset, it didn't work. I then had to do a factory reset- or a hard reset. It then threw my phone into a perpetual state of spinning cogs and a never-ending battle that is so close to lost I can feel the defeat seeping in like a plague. I've connected it to my computer to do the NSRT but my phone only sees it as a power source. I've taken the battery out, brought it to the Microsoft store, and I've even tried to hack into it via computer. However the same problem shows every time:

I've tried charging my Nokia 1020 for 8 hours with no luck. After that I tried the 2 key and 3 key reset with no luck as well. I tried to plug it up to my computer but I got nothing there either. View 8 Replies View RelatedI have AT+T HTC One - stock; I was happily using it too much let the power run down till it died and after that cannot restart. I can reach the Hard Reset Loader screen. I have already tried factory reset.
I see a kind of battery picture pop up for a while with two green arrows making a circle and a little down arrow in the middle - in the center of screen.
A while later the screen goes black and nothing happens. The SIM card is still inside. I have tried 2-3 times - battery shows to be >80% as of now.

Is it possible to wipe date/factory reset the N5 if the screen only barely lights up a dull grey? I got a replacement but I have to send this one back and cant reset it the normal way.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhile playing a game on my phone yesterday the screen flashed/blinked for a moment, then turned and remained a blackish blue color. While in this state nothing on the phone was functional, I could hold the power button until I was blue in the face and it wouldn't power off the device. At this point I opened the cover for the micro SD card and SIM card and pressed the yellow power off button.
After holding down the yellow off button for several seconds and feeling the three vibrations I set the phone down and left it for 5 minutes. When I powered device backup it had the same black blue screen. I repeated these steps several times all with the same outcome. At this point I'm pretty frustrated and attempted to boot into recovery to no avail, finally deciding to simply do a factory reset which didn't work either.
My nexus 5 screen cracked, I have sold my motherboard to someone as I will be getting a new phone. But the problem is that my files are still on the motherboard. I have teamwin recovery installed but it uses touch so I can't acces anything. How can I factory reset my phone and maybe lock the bootloader again too?

Everything works normally, except now after the reset, for some reason I can't change the screen grid size in the panel customization menu. The button that says "screen grid" is there, but it is now greyed out and I can't use it.

When the phone starts again, I see the factory reset home screen. It is all wiped, no contacts, photos etc etc.Could this be some sort of bug in the phone? From Sony PC Companion i can't do nothing because i must unlock the phone.
From Flashtool i can't do nothing because i have USB Debug Mode set to OFF and i can't enable it if i can't unlock the smartphone. Otherwise if I can set the phone in Flashmode or Fastboot Mode.

I rebooted a couple of times (depressing the power and volume down). It worked once but then froze up again. Taking out the sim and putting it back in seems to reboot the phone, which works, sometimes, but freezes up again as soon as the screen lock is activated.
View 11 Replies View RelatedYesterday, I went running with my Lumia 1020 listening to music and using the Runtastic app. The music stopped - I looked at the phone - it was turned off. I tried powering on, but to no avail. I should also mention that upon leaving, the battery was fully charged and this happened after some 20 minutes. When I came home, I immediately put the phone on the wall charger and expected it to power on after a while. I checked it after 3 hours and nothing, the phone was still stone-dead and what was even more worrying, completely cold - no heat-up from charging.
I tried connecting it to my PC - the computer didn't even recognize ANY device was connected to it. Just to be sure, I tried Nokia Software Recovery Tool, but sure enough, it was not able to detect the phone. The phone seems to be dead meat now, but when I put it on my desk wireless charging stand, the stand's indicator lights up, although the phone does nothing and stays that way.
