The news reader? I bought it for my 4 when I first got it and promptly forgot about it. It's the small screen, I guess, lately though I've been forcing myself to use it and it almost sings. It just cuts down my time tremendously. Anyone else using it, or something better?

I've used the OS5 Blackberry Messenger to scan QR codes on my Bold 9700 and it worked great. Upload OS6 and now it just pops back to the Messenger screen. I've tried soft reboots and hard reboots without any success.

I have the iPhone 4g through Verizon. During phone conversations, the mic will cut out for 30 seconds-2minutes. The caller can hear me, I can't hear the caller. I've tried to restart the phone, update, etc. FWIW I use a network extender because I don't get great service at my home. However, this shouldn't be an issue as my boyfriend gets fine service and the problem happens when I'm not at home as welll.

I was reading a story on CNBC (http://www.cnbc.com/id/38265325) and they said that neither consumers nor shareholders will be able to see it live. I don't know why I was surprised but the arrogance of the move was overwhelming. Shareholders can't even watch it? Crazy. Jobs is a creative genius, but I disagree with Cramer (from the article) about his ability to execute. They've got many things right but their misses are huge. And according to Bloomberg, Jobs was told early on by an engineer about the antenna issue yet still proceeded with it (define of hubris). In my personal opinion, I think Tim Cook will succeed Jobs when he retires and I will be very interested to see how things change once that happens.
I've talked to some of my friends who are loyal to Apple and they agree that what is happening with that company is sad. I read several articles today that suggest that iOS4 should not be used on the 3G because the hardware cannot handle it. Both authors said they experienced significant problems with lag after installing the update - this happened to me too. My phone repeatedly freezes for a few moments after I attempt to do something. The authors also mention that their battery life is nothing like what it was prior to the upgrade. For me, I can leave my phone on the charger all night, and do nothing but refresh CNBC and today, for example, my phone was dead by noon.
I spent my lunch hour looking at the Droid. I'm very intrigued by it. I don't want to give up my iPhone but I may have to. The battery life alone is reason enough, not including the lag. I love the apps I have, but the only other option I have is to get a 3GS, which my AT&T store has told me they still have with the prior OS on it. Interestingly enough, I was in the AT&T store today and the 3GS's on display are ALL on the old OS.I wish I had never updated the OS. Probably would be much happier now. Don't plan on doing the signal bar issue update that is supposedly out today either. Been burned on updates by this company one time too many.
I'm one of those currently trying to track down the source of the too-fast battery drain on my new iPhone 6+ with iOS 8.1.1. To that end I've been taking a very close look at things and just downloaded Battery Doctor to get a list of running processes currently using the battery. I was very surprised (and alarmed) to see a string of Chinese characters listed as a process name, as I've never downloaded any apps with names in Chinese script.Â
Google Translate says the process is "Baidu News." Since I've never installed any Baidu app and can't read Chinese, how this is running or why, or how to shut it down. Is this part of iOS 8?

My first iphone 4s which I got at the end of March did this from day one. Whilst on a call, a loud shrill tone would cut in and it was so loud I had to take the phone away from my ear; it lasted up to 20 seconds then the call would cut back in again. On the other end, the person I was speaking to wasn't aware of anything, no noise but it went kind of dead for the duration. This problem was intermittent, not on every call, sometimes twice in one call.
I took the phone back to apple who exchanged it straight away for a new handset which was brilliant service. The very first call I made on the new phone-bang, exactly the same thing. I could not believe it. I got to wondering if it may be the brushed steel protective case so I changed that for a plastic one but it still does it. Not as often as the first phone but it still does it. Any ideas what it could be? I am almost embarrassed to go back to apple again but it can't be me can it? The phone is only 2 weeks old!

Just recently my iphone 4s speakers started acting up. I have restored it twice once to a back up and the other time as a new phone. The speakers get really staticy on full volume and then it cuts out but if I turn down the volume and blow air into the speakers it goes back to play fine until I turn up the volume again. I'm going to try to clean it out with a toothbrush and see if that helps. But I'm curious does this seem more like a hardware problem or is it a problem with the operating system and I should try to hold out until ios 6 comes out and see if that helps. I've read all the problems with this so I'm hesitant to send it in since there is no apple store around here and find out I have to pay to get it fixed. Tried to talk to them on the phone but since it's a week past ninety days I would have to purchase apple care in order to get any help but yet that's only available for 30 days after your purchase so I'm not sure how come they can offer that over the phone.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIf the iPads can use a micro sd card reader then why can't the iPhone 4S use it? My wife has a PPC G4 PB that has her music that we have for our regular iPod nano we use. Now that we both got the 4S she of course wanted to put her music on to the new phone and get the pics off of her old cell and put them onto her new 4S. The one work around I found to do for the pics was drop box. It's a pain in the rear but it works. Just doesn't work for music. So since iTunes 4.2 and Mac OS 10.4 don't work for the 4S I've been thinking of biting the bullet and just buy a new Mac for my wife. Then I saw the camera kits. Some say 4S OK. But the kit has to be first connected to an iPad then have a usb cable connected to the 4S in order to swap pics. Why can't the kit just hook up to the 4S and then swap the pics to the sd card? Why does it need the iPad for it to do it? If Apple would had allowed 10.6 to use iCloud I could have used my MPB to upload the iTunes library of hers and then have her log in to her account on the 4S.

I have a shortcut on one of my homescreens to the News & Weather App (version 1.3.04) which was supplied with my ATRIX 4G. When I open the app, it used to come up with the weather for my location (which I have manually set with a zipcode), but lately it just says "Sorry, weather currently unavailable". If I scroll the screen to the left the other "News" tabs do display current content like they always have. Only the "Weather" tab seems not to be working. I've tried messing with the app's weather settings, but it doesn't seem to be able to find a location from a zipcode any longer. Again, this was not an app that I downloaded, so I can't uninstall and reinstall it. Force stopping and clearing data doesn't fix it either.

You press call to start a call and it simply beeps and ends the call. when it does this you have no way of making a call how ever many times you try it does the same thing. The person you are trying to call will get a missed call from you as the phone connects for a split second then ends the call.

For some reason at the same time for the past 4 days my bar and my little icon will turn grey showing that i still have connextion but dont have any access, seeing as how this is the high part of my day and I use my phone to tether my pc to the internet you can understand when i say its becoming a serious hendrance.
I have a Mazda 3 2014 with built in Infotainment system, and I can of course place calls from it over bluetooth. My Nexus 5 would dial, and as you expect the car remains connected and the audio and dialling occurs through the car system. With my Nexus 6P, the car talks to my phone, and then immediately cuts off the bluetooth, a bit like a failure to communicate, but the phone will then carry on calling, and only if I try to dial from my car, and if the person has answered does it then lock on and maintain the call via the car system.
