IPhone :: Not Allowed To See Apple News Conference Live?
Jul 15, 2010
I was reading a story on CNBC (http://www.cnbc.com/id/38265325) and they said that neither consumers nor shareholders will be able to see it live. I don't know why I was surprised but the arrogance of the move was overwhelming. Shareholders can't even watch it? Crazy. Jobs is a creative genius, but I disagree with Cramer (from the article) about his ability to execute. They've got many things right but their misses are huge. And according to Bloomberg, Jobs was told early on by an engineer about the antenna issue yet still proceeded with it (define of hubris). In my personal opinion, I think Tim Cook will succeed Jobs when he retires and I will be very interested to see how things change once that happens.
I've talked to some of my friends who are loyal to Apple and they agree that what is happening with that company is sad. I read several articles today that suggest that iOS4 should not be used on the 3G because the hardware cannot handle it. Both authors said they experienced significant problems with lag after installing the update - this happened to me too. My phone repeatedly freezes for a few moments after I attempt to do something. The authors also mention that their battery life is nothing like what it was prior to the upgrade. For me, I can leave my phone on the charger all night, and do nothing but refresh CNBC and today, for example, my phone was dead by noon.
I spent my lunch hour looking at the Droid. I'm very intrigued by it. I don't want to give up my iPhone but I may have to. The battery life alone is reason enough, not including the lag. I love the apps I have, but the only other option I have is to get a 3GS, which my AT&T store has told me they still have with the prior OS on it. Interestingly enough, I was in the AT&T store today and the 3GS's on display are ALL on the old OS.I wish I had never updated the OS. Probably would be much happier now. Don't plan on doing the signal bar issue update that is supposedly out today either. Been burned on updates by this company one time too many.
I have recently bought a Nokia N8 with Belle and BBC iPlayer.
I can play BBC1, BBC2, BBC4 & Parliament live (& maybe others) but when I try BBC News live all I get is "Loading". I am using BT Broadband Wifi, I'm on O2 SIM free, and live in the UK.
Everything was OK on my previous N97. I can't seem to find anything about this on Nokia forums or the BBC. I have just put a query to the BBC but they don't guarantee to answer them all?
I didn't feel like owning a defective product even though I wasn't experiencing dropped calls. There eventually will be revised hardware. Whether it's in a few weeks, months, or iPhone 5. I didn't want to take the hit on resale value with a rev A iPhone 4.
In any case, I have a micro-sim to full size sim adapter and put Apple card into my Nexus One. All was good and didn't need to stop by ATT to get a new full size sim. Plus I like the idea of having a universal SIM should a newer phone come my way. Just an FYI to those returning phones. I did call ATT while I was in the Apple store to inform them of what I was doing. They were cool with it as well. Also the SIM adapter I'm running is one I purchased off ebay. Black version with the seller claiming they're straight from Germany. They're the exact size of a standard sim The blue versions are a little too thick for some phones.
An Apple customer service representative just informed me that today, they were informed that there is a limit of only one iPhone for online order per account, no matter what the eligibility of your various AT&T lines are. I ordered each of my iP4's separately, although they're under the same family plan. He said, "It wasn't announced and we, or at least I, was just informed about this today, but you can only order 1 iPhone online. We've actually had a lot of people calling about order cancellations." I specifically asked him why this was the case if multiple numbers on a family plan are eligible for an upgrade, but he was unable to answer. He stated that we would have to purchase our second iPhone 4 in store and that everyone who ordered more than one iPhone will have all but one of their orders cancelled.I've ordered 2 iP4's. One has been shipped, and the other has, "Not yet Shipped." The rep looked up my order for the phone that hasn't been shipped yet and said that there is a hold on it because we're only allowed to order one iPhone 4 online. So, if what this rep said is true, how can so many people claim that both of their orders have been shipped? Here's another thread stating the same thing: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=943290
With the overall customer base value of AAPL at hither US$220 billion, over the past year Apple has managed to de-throne Google as Silicon Valley's most valuable company. By balancing, the search and cellphone-centric Whacking big G has a superstore capitalization of near $174B as of today's prices.Whoo, my first comment from my iPad. I can at worst try on the market cover is going to soar flush with more as without delay as the be placed of the set gets access to the iPad.
Is the press conference going to be aired on television or is this just a conference for printed press? If it is on television, does anyone know what channel it is going to be on?
I just got my iPhone 4 and I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to delete or at least hide the News Stand app? It won't seem to go into any folders when I try to drag it into one.
The news reader? I bought it for my 4 when I first got it and promptly forgot about it. It's the small screen, I guess, lately though I've been forcing myself to use it and it almost sings. It just cuts down my time tremendously. Anyone else using it, or something better?
I'm one of those currently trying to track down the source of the too-fast battery drain on my new iPhone 6+ with iOS 8.1.1. To that end I've been taking a very close look at things and just downloaded Battery Doctor to get a list of running processes currently using the battery. I was very surprised (and alarmed) to see a string of Chinese characters listed as a process name, as I've never downloaded any apps with names in Chinese script.Â
Google Translate says the process is "Baidu News." Since I've never installed any Baidu app and can't read Chinese, how this is running or why, or how to shut it down. Is this part of iOS 8?
When I have an active 3-way confrence call and I am asked to "Hit 1 for yes or 2 for NO" the phone tone will not register to pick the number. It sounds the tone, but the other phone line asking for me to hit the number will not register the tone. Any suggestions??
Skype 2.0 update was just released and it allows skyping over 3g. The downside is that there will be "a small monthly fee" after august. That kind of ticks me off and I hope voipover3g still works with jailbroken phones.

BBC has finally been allowed to release the bbc news iphone app. Due later today. Iplayer and bbc sports apps will also follow.details here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-10738882
ATT just turned down my girlfriend in the store stating, "they are not allowed by apple to accept pre-orders with a debit card, only credit card".... very interesting.I know apple was just involved in a law suit by a lady who was denied buying an ipad with cash...
My mail on my iPhone was set up fine as POP, I used my Mac to get mail and only the iPhone if I was away without the Mac, so it only downloaded email not received on the Mac yet. I had to change my password with my provider (Virgin Media) and my mail account on my iPhone wouldn't recognise it even though it was correct so I deleted the account to set it up again. However, it won't give me the option of POP, only IMAP and now it keeps downloading hundreds of old emails. I just want to go back to POP! I've seen sites which show how to set up a mail account and they say "now choose POP or IMAP" but my set up never gives me that choice, it just takes my settings, verifies them and sets it up as IMAP.
I have an iPhone 4s, and it no longer allows me to change which apps are allowed to use my Facebook account. That section is grayed out under settings for me. I've tried logging in and out of Facebook, restarting my phone, and I updated my iOS since I hadn't done that yet (just the latest security update) and nothing worked.Â
I am getting the same error message"You are not allowed to create or update this content I now have an Apple iPhone 4 New. My current phone is Widows 8 phone from Straight talk since that is my service.
I have a data cable for my Windows phone that I use often to sync data from the phone to my computer or the inverse.
I just purchased a data cable die my iPhone. I wonder can I plug both usb cables into my PC. Then transfer or drag my data (Music, Photos, Videos, etc) from the Windows Phone to the iPhone folders?
