I tried restoring it with no luck, there is no water damage, I didn't try to jailbreak it or anything. It shows up in iTunes, makes all the right noises, even when my friend called me it rang, but the screen is just black.

Sometimes, after a call ends, my screen stays black, not turned off, just black. The status bar stays on the top, as you can see in the image below.
I prepared the image in paint actually. You can clearly see the background of the status bar, normally there's black too.
When I press the home button, spotlight search appears. I have to press the lock button to solve the problem, this problem occurs very often..

My iPhone 4 is in very good condition. But this morning i was on my phone and it froze. So i just put it down and waited for it to go back to normal. A few minutes later the screen went completely black. I though it just turned off so i pressed the home button but nothing happened. It was at about 80% battery so i knew it didn't die, but i tried plugging it in to see what would happen.
My phone made the sound that it usually makes when I plug it into a charger but still the screen was blank. I tired to plug my phone into my mac to restart it in iTunes but it never connected. It only connected to iPhoto. I've tried holding down the lock and home button until the apple logo came on the screen but it never did. I don't know what to do. I know I should take it into the apple store but I want to try to get it to work at home instead of having to go all the way out there.

The screen on my iphone 4s has gone balck and sometimes comes up with blue lines, but I cannot get it to reset. I can still receive calls and can hear that the phone is functioning normally (ie. I can swipe the screen as I would normally do to unlock it and I can hear it unlock) but I cannot see any information. Is there a way to reset the display? I have tried holding down the power and home button for 10 seconds with no luck.

My phone automatically puts the screen black when I make a call, even if the phone is on the desk or held out in space. Either way, it is very rare for me to be able to convince the phone to bring the screen display back up, ( to do things like enter little things like pin codes ). I flip it around, hold it up to the lights, put it against something, take it away, press every part of the screen. Is there any way of setting the phone not to go black during a call?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I first got my N8-00 I had no problems at all, until 6 months later I dropped it from a height of 2ft. Then I got all the problems, automatically turning off and restarting 100 times a day etc, etc. I took it to my phone supplier who replaced it with a new one, that had the new Anna software installed. Since then whenever I get or make calls the screen goes totally blank.
It is really annoying as I cannot see who is calling or if the call has gone through. I have to manually unlock the phone to attend the call. Also having problems answering the calls as sometimes I have to press the answer button 3-4 times. Finally now 3 months after having this phone it has started turning off and restarting automatically, but only about once a week, so far. I have all the latest Anna updates but these problems still persist.
when making a touch call, screen goes black, although call does go thru, i'm unable to hang up or choose options since my screen is black. but if i make a hands-free call (google voice call), screen stays on, motorola had no solutions with software updates or even after a factory reset.

Currently the touch screen works but there is a problem. I am unable to answer calls as the screen goes black and does not turn on again until the person has hung up or until i reset the phone. Also when i try to call out the screen turns black as well and exhibits the same symptoms as listed above.

I am helping out a friend who has a Nokia 6280. She claimed that it's infected by a virus because her problems started after using a Bluetooth headset. I don't quite believe this as I've heard it's more likely to be struck by lightning than to have this phone infected with a virus. Anyhow, the problem is the following: When you power on the phone, you get the Nokia handshake, then the phone loads. However, as soon as the phone loads, a bunch of black lines appear to streak across the screen rendering it black. That's not a huge issue because it goes away after a few seconds. Now I've read this could be an issue related to the ribbon that connects to the screen, but the screen turning black does not occur in any other instance other than right after when the main screen appears. I can play with the slider all day and nothing will happen, but like clockwork the problem appears after the phone loads.What gives? The phone works fine otherwise, so what could the problem be? If you need any more information I will be happy to provide. I've uploaded a video of this issue here (using my 5800 XpressMusic at night - the quality isn't that great sorry, but it does show the problem). I have this problem for some time now (at least since the marshmallow update). If I move my Nexus 5 to a different place, far from the current Wi-Fi AP, it does not connect to the nearest saved AP, it only does that if I wake up the screen.
The Wi-Fi works properly when the screen is off, I still get the notifications and all, I just have to stay connected to the same AP. I have tried everything to find what is the problem, but I can't find it.
I did a factory reset, it was working again, but when I did the first time Google account login, it started again, even on safe mode.
I thought I corrected it by doing another reset and not recovering my account , but when installing some apps it started again.
Every time I think I found the app that causes the problem and uninstall it, the Wi-Fi problem eventually returns
and I don't know what to do more.
What I have found out is that even uninstalling the app I think is the culprit, the Wi-Fi only works again properly if I reboot the phone, so maybe I have not found the app, and the Wi-Fi only works properly because I rebooted the phone?
The apps I have on my phone are the same I have in my Nexus 7 (2013), and with all those apps, the Wi-Fi works properly on the Nexus 7.
Is there anyway to know if is the phones fault, or some app (that makes the Wi-Fi not work properly on the Nexus 5,but not in the Nexus 7)?
I keep finding my phone will do random things in my pocket when out and its really frustrating i had tried changing lots of settings todo with the screen as i thought it was when i got a notification it would wake the phone and my leg would simulate screen presses.
That isnt the case however. I have narrowd it down to when i get in my car and the bluetooth connects to my car radio it makes the touch screen active, the screen does not light up but if you touch it as it connects it will wake the phone.
