i recently bought a refurbished hero and want to update to 2.1 but i am having problems doing it.there is not a option on the phone to update and i cant seem to update when i connect to my laptop running windows 7, the laptop doesn't recordnise the phone for me to update it.
View 3 RepliesI was updating my Orange ROM from the HTC site to the most updated one using windows 7 and it needed to install a driver to my pc for the phone halfway through. After this it stopped updating and told me i needed to reset my pc, i did this and afterwards the update stopped running, i hate to reset my phone and reinstate factory settings to get it to work.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a CDMA Hero with Cellular South (a regional carrier in MS, AL & FL). They have been generally pretty slow to provide updates and currently have only released Android 2.1 for this device. I was hoping that they would eventually provide a 2.2 update, as I understand that this would allow some applications to be moved to the flash card. Right now, the limitations of being able to store applications on only the phone memory is fairly constraining and makes the decision of whether to install or not install an app pretty tough.
I have been recently told that Cellular South does not intend to update this phone to 2.2, so it will be stuck forever on 2.1 (unless I install a 3rd party update). why this phone would not be updated to 2.2. Has HTC just decided to not support it any longer? If so, I've bought my last HTC phone.
Does anyone know how to get voice to text on the Hero 2.1? Under settings, there is something that says "text to speech" but I don't know how to get it to work.Also a major problem I have is that you can't jump through the address book/people by selecting a letter, you have to manually scroll through the entire address book to get to a phone number or contact that you want. Do anyone know a way around this?

First i compressed as .mp4 (H.264/AAC) which worked fine on iPhone, worked ok on a SE-X1 (needed to load whole movie before it could play), the Hero couldn't recognize the file at all.
The info page for Hero says it handles mpeg-4 (H.263 and H.264) and MP3/AAC.Is it just the .mp4 container that the Hero doesn't like?Does anyone know what format that would be best for video on the net to work on most phones?
I am using iphone4 with IOS 5.0.1. I wanna upgrade the IOS to 5.1. Will there be any impact on the phone performance, battery life etc.

View 1 Replies View RelatedNow i had been having problems with my storm 2 in the form of crackling earpiece, dodgy battery door, dropped calls etc. I have sent the phone off and received a nice replacement which hsa addressed all the problems.Now the problem I have is how do i go about restoring the back up data from my old blackberry onto my new one. I could not do the device switch wizard as i didn't have the two phones at the same time.
I have just done a large update on the new one and am now running the latest official Vodaphone firmware (436). I had only had the original phone for about a month, is it worth the bother of restoring what must be a smalll amount of data? What is contained in the back up file by the way?

All my contacts are backed up on BB Protect as problems with my BB meant I couldn't back up to BB desktop software. However now I can't access them.My provider (vodaffone) transfered my SIM to a MicroSIM to use with my new iphone so the original normal sized SIM I have is no longer functioning meaning I cannot use the BB handset to download the contacts from BB Protect. We tried to do this in the Vodafone shop with no success as BB protect wouldn't recognise the new device and wanted the old one which I no longer have (I've had 5 in 7 months).All I want to do is get a list of the 300 contacts locked away in BB protect in any form. I don't even care if i have to sit and type them all in again..
