My handsets screen is not responding to any form of touch, it was was working then mid use just stopped. The screen still works displaying everything and is refreshing. Using the slide I can access some things but its very limited access.

GF facebooked messaged me last night after I tried to ring her, saying that since our last call, her phone had seemed frozen and wasn't responding to her touch. It was on the locked screen and she couldn't get it to work. Physical buttons worked ok.I got her to reboot to reinstall through SU, but not joy. So, what's likely to be wrong with it that suddenly, the whole screen goes pop?

In the meanwhile I have repaired the software using Sony Bridge for Mac, used an old PC to repair with PC Companion and last tried SUS, but other than deleting my data nothing happened, the screen will not react to touch. The phone is 6 months old and I know there was no physical force or other stress applied upon it between the last time it worked and the moment I realized the screen was dead. It is a SK17a with 2.3.3 Gingerbread and Claro-Branded.

Wow, forgetting any issues that “may” exist with OS or the device itself which others have more than covered enough elsewhere in this forum, I was somewhat disappointed. As implied, it’s not the device or OS, but the use of a touch screen vs. my Bold 9000 that I love so much (and thus I’d probably have the same view with switching to any other touch screen device, BB or not). (However, the 9000 keyboard still IMHO exceeds all others including the 9800, which I found to be small, even for my small fingers).
But for those of you who have switched from similar devices to a touch screen, how was the experience? How long did it take to get fully used to a touch screen etc.? One thing I anticipate missing - believe it or not - is the ease of getting around on my Bold. Now I have PocketDay and have 2 short cuts assigned to every key. Not sure if I’ll have the same abilities on the 9800 etc.
My xperia plays' touch screen has stopped working.
I Have extended warranty with my provider however before i send my phone away for replacement/repair i am hoping to be able to copy my contacts to a safe location until i have my new phone.
So this morning I took my Xperia Play out of its charging dock, to find that the touch screen is now completely unresponsive.I have tried updating and repairing the software through the PC companion, but the screen is still completely unresponsive. The phone is still (technically) working, and can be navigated by using the PS controls, but the touch part of the screen is not working.

View 3 Replies View RelatedChecking my phone, it told me there was an update available. I used the PC connect software to instal the update, following all instructions exactly. The update was applied and the phone shut off. I restarted the phone as instructed, and after a few minutes the update appeared to be successful. However, when I tried to use the phone I discovered that I could not unlock the screen! My first thought was to restart the phone, but without the touch screen, I can't even turn it off! It seems like my only option at this point would be to remove the battery to kill the power, replace the battery, and try restarting the phone.

I tried to restore it to factory settings, didn't work. I connected it to the Ovi Suit to check for updates, is said "There are no updates" and something like "If you are experiencing problems with the current version, you can reinstall it" so I did. I followed the steps, made the backup, waited for a while, then when the reinstall process was done, the touch screen wasn't working anymore, the keypad is working fine, the volume up/down buttons are working, everything is working except the touch screen. Its not responding! I tried to reinstall again. Still the same. I tried to reinstall, without doing a backup.

1. Cold Reboot (Pull battery when device is on)
2. Simple Reboot (Pull battery when device is OFF)
3. Remove battery then, SIM & SD Card, plug in battery then pull it again & put everything back in
None of these worked, my OS version is v7.0.0.261 Bundle 1346 Platform 5.0.0.464 Should I update my phone software? Each time I try to check for an upgrade it says you have the latest one.
I did the factory reset / memory wipe... still doesn't work. It was working perfectly before I went to bed. No drops since I bought it... not a single problem up until now, and kit came out of nowhere. Is there anything I can do besides returning it? :/

Its been just 2 months since the purchase and the touch screen has started acting up. It stops responding to touch and the phone has to be shut, battery taken out, phone restarted and then the touch screen starts responding. This happens atleast once a day and I'm getting fed up of this.
