HTC :: Hero CDMA: No Update To Android 2.2?
Mar 16, 2011I have a CDMA Hero with Cellular South (a regional carrier in MS, AL & FL). They have been generally pretty slow to provide updates and currently have only released Android 2.1 for this device. I was hoping that they would eventually provide a 2.2 update, as I understand that this would allow some applications to be moved to the flash card. Right now, the limitations of being able to store applications on only the phone memory is fairly constraining and makes the decision of whether to install or not install an app pretty tough.
I have been recently told that Cellular South does not intend to update this phone to 2.2, so it will be stuck forever on 2.1 (unless I install a 3rd party update). why this phone would not be updated to 2.2. Has HTC just decided to not support it any longer? If so, I've bought my last HTC phone.
HTC :: Hero Android 2.1 Update / Address Book And Voice To Text
May 20, 2010Does anyone know how to get voice to text on the Hero 2.1? Under settings, there is something that says "text to speech" but I don't know how to get it to work.Also a major problem I have is that you can't jump through the address book/people by selecting a letter, you have to manually scroll through the entire address book to get to a phone number or contact that you want. Do anyone know a way around this?

Jan 3, 2010after using htc hero for 2 months, i tell you right now the biggest problem is that the cpu is not fast enough to run android, with senseUI with its 7 screens.occosionally, IF I haven't restarted it in a long time, The phone will lag so slow that after having pressed something on the screen, it will lag and then capture the movement seconds afterwards.

Sep 21, 2010I have downloaded the ROM upgrade to set my phone to Android 2.1. I have also downloaded the latest HTC Sync software.i have no problem 'syncing' my phone with my PC (Windows 7) and the connection is fine. Until, I open the ROM upgrade software on my PC. When I get to the first window warning me the upgrade will delete all info from my phone and asking me to open the Readme, the connection always drops out. Therefore, the PC cannot start updating the phone.

First i compressed as .mp4 (H.264/AAC) which worked fine on iPhone, worked ok on a SE-X1 (needed to load whole movie before it could play), the Hero couldn't recognize the file at all.
The info page for Hero says it handles mpeg-4 (H.263 and H.264) and MP3/AAC.Is it just the .mp4 container that the Hero doesn't like?Does anyone know what format that would be best for video on the net to work on most phones?

Apr 24, 2011Okay, so I have received my Sony Ericsson Xperia x10 today, and I just looked and it has really old firmware as for a 1.6 OS. Okay, I called Customer Support, and they told me that the Firmware isn't released for US AT&T yet, and they are currently working on it. Well I WANT IT NOW, i mean i have seen firmware 2.1 and it seems legit and I don't want to do a generic or flash(or whatever its called) because I don't wanna mess up my phone. and then not be able to download the actual firmware, or crash my phone and break it ya know? Someone make me feel better about all this because its an amazing phone!
