I just got an HTC Hero. My old phone was the HTC Touch which is a Windows Mobile phone, and I'm wondering how I can transfer my contacts/address book from the HTC Touch to my new Hero.

Does anyone know how to get voice to text on the Hero 2.1? Under settings, there is something that says "text to speech" but I don't know how to get it to work.Also a major problem I have is that you can't jump through the address book/people by selecting a letter, you have to manually scroll through the entire address book to get to a phone number or contact that you want. Do anyone know a way around this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was trying to create a sub folder in my address book & now I can't find my original add book. The add book icon is still there, but there are no contacts in it. The best i remember i hit filter and chose business & typed in a name for what i thought would be a new folder or group. i'm not sure what happened, but I can't see any of my contacts. I have switched from personl to business & back again & it says "no contacts" on both. But if I go to email & put in a letter all of my old contacts that begin with that letter show up. & my speed dials still work. But if i go to sms/mms & do compose sms it shows "No Addresses"....well I spoke too soon...now if i go to email & type in a letter it don't show a list of ppl that begin with that letter.... I have tried taking the battery out with the phone off & on & it's still the same....

I like my E72 but I have two problems that really annoy me.
1. In the past when ever I would write a new email I would get list of suggested email addresses in the "To" field. For example, if I would was to write the letter S I would get the email address of the people in my address book whose name starts with an S (sam, Sofia etc). for some reason this feature stopped working on my phone and I can't find how to make it work again. if I want to send an email I need to manually write the email address in the "To" field. The auto suggestion feature works perfectly on my wife's phone (an E72 with the same firmware - 22.007) but on my phone it won't suggest email addresses from my contacts.
2. Another problem is that my Gmail that is synced to the phone, through the Nokia Messenger server is locked on "hide emails older than 2 weeks". Now, I have hundreds of emails stored on my phone that dates to February 1st - the day I got the Phone.
Is there a way to delete these emails automatically, without deleting them on the Gmail account itself? It makes my phone really when going through the emails.
after using htc hero for 2 months, i tell you right now the biggest problem is that the cpu is not fast enough to run android, with senseUI with its 7 screens.occosionally, IF I haven't restarted it in a long time, The phone will lag so slow that after having pressed something on the screen, it will lag and then capture the movement seconds afterwards.

I have also downloaded the latest HTC Sync software.i have no problem 'syncing' my phone with my PC (Windows 7) and the connection is fine. Until, I open the ROM upgrade software on my PC. When I get to the first window warning me the upgrade will delete all info from my phone and asking me to open the Readme, the connection always drops out. Therefore, the PC cannot start updating the phone.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a CDMA Hero with Cellular South (a regional carrier in MS, AL & FL). They have been generally pretty slow to provide updates and currently have only released Android 2.1 for this device. I was hoping that they would eventually provide a 2.2 update, as I understand that this would allow some applications to be moved to the flash card. Right now, the limitations of being able to store applications on only the phone memory is fairly constraining and makes the decision of whether to install or not install an app pretty tough.
I have been recently told that Cellular South does not intend to update this phone to 2.2, so it will be stuck forever on 2.1 (unless I install a 3rd party update). why this phone would not be updated to 2.2. Has HTC just decided to not support it any longer? If so, I've bought my last HTC phone.
Does anyone know any good HTC Hero/ Adroid Themes. I love my blackerry, but the default theme is a little meh. One of the things I like about the Hero and Android Phones is the UI, so if you know any free/ pretty cheap themes please post the OTA.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi have a blackberry curve 8520. at the momment i have 288 contacts but i can not add more. I go to menu, address book, new contact, the window give me the options, i add the information (name, phone, email, etc) and when i want to save the contact it do not save
i tried to reboot removing the battery for a minute and restart but still with the same problem.
Also i figured out that when y sync my bb with the desktop manager, the address book is not sync it says (Adress book not installed) that is why i can not swipe the contacts to reinstall the info because i have no back up of the address book

Just got this phone and manually input all of my contacts with no problem. One day later, all those contacts are gone and it won't let me add more contacts. I have even tried adding them to my SIM and then copying them over...but still nothing.

I was able to import my Outlook contacts into LiveMail. But when I try to synchronize my pc and BB the only synchronization options I see are Yahoo and OutlookExpress - no LiveMail option. I selected OutlookExpress and it seemed to work - the BB Desktop Manager found the right # of contacts and identified some record conflicts. It then said the synchronization was successful. But there are still many records which are only on the pc or only on the device, no new records were added. How can I resolve this?
