I have a little issues with my nexus. When I lock the device, the wifi turn off and reconnect as soon as unlock the device. I've started to have this issue 3 weeks ago, I've updated from stock android 6 to 6.0.1 and the problem are still there (I've tried using cm and 2 or 3 others roms too). I don't have any energy save app or something like that, and the option in "advance wifi" is set in always on.
I'm trying to read the log but I don't understand where is the wifi problem. [URL] ....

My Nexus 6P has the bootloader unlocked but is running completely stock, un-rooted, vanilla android (MDB08M). Project Fi is my carrier. When I am at home and on *most* wireless networks, I see no issue. While I am at work, my wifi constantly disconnects and reconnects. I will pick up my phone, and it will either A) not have wifi (though I have previously been connected) and quickly reconnects or B) Will have wifi, but after some amount of use, will disconnect from wifi, then reconnect a few seconds later.
I've tried all the simple items:Making sure "Keep wifi on during sleep" or whatever the setting is is turned on turn off optimization on Google Connectivity Services
I turned on verbose wifi logs and was able to catch a logcat of when the issue occured. The disconnect occured at almost exactly 9:29:00, as I saw my wifi go out and then almost immediately after the clock tick 9:29.
I can't find anything in particular that stands out as the cause or leads to a solution.
I assume it is some misunderstanding between my job's wireless network and my phone. My previous phone (Nexus 4) had none of these issues. I am unclear on whether this is a Marshmallow issue, Project Fi issue, or what software might be causing it. Since it only happens on this certain network, I am making the assumption it is most likely software and not a faulty wireless chip. I have no control over the wireless configuration of the network, so anything on that end is a non-starter.

After being connected to WiFi for a while the wifi speeds drop to less than a quarter of their normal speeds, e.g. at home 6 Mbps drops to 1.4 Mbps. It is the same at work connecting to an enterprise level AP (although speed drop is 30 Mbps to about 5 so less of a problem).
I know it is device related as other devices tested at the same time are at the right speed.
Toggling WiFi off then on again returns everything to normal speed.
It's like it reverts to power saving mode. Didn't have this problem with my 4 or current N7.

So for about a week and a half, my Nexus 5 would not allow me to turn on my WiFi. When it first started, if I tried to turn on WiFi then my phone would just shut down and start back up like nothing happened. If I had the WiFi on already, then it would randomly reboot until I turned WiFi off. I searched threads and found nothing that wouldn't void my warranty (I got it in March).
After a couple days, rather than randomly turning off, my Nexus chose to just never let me control the WiFi ever again. I attached a photo to the post that shows what it looks like when I go into my WiFi settings. I no longer have any control over whether my WiFi is on or off, although it has been stuck on the "Turning On WiFi" phase for well over 2 days. Also, all these reboots are hard reboots as in, it doesn't warn me, the screen just goes black and starts back up. Heres what I have tried to solve this issue:
- Reboot
- Format Cache
- Startup in Safe Mode
- Uninstall some Apps
- Contact Google
- Factory Reset
- Updating all my Apps
- Installing Android 5.0*
* This leads me to my second issue, if my screen turns its self off or I press the power button on the side of my Nexus to get the screen to turn off, then my phone just hard reboots. What's even worse is that if I leave it on in my pocket and it randomly restarts due to it automatically dimming/turning off the screen, then, until I hold down the power button to normal power off, my phone will be stuck in a reboot loop. My screen dims, then turns off, then it just reboots and it does this again and again and again. This issue only started happening AFTER the Android L or Android 5.0 (whatever you prefer to call it) update.
All while this is happening, my Bluetooth refuses to turn on, almost like my WiFi, but with my Bluetooth, if I slide the circle to one side to turn it on, it just randomly snaps back into the "Off" position. I contacted Google before Android 5 came out, so the dim screen/power button problem I listed in the paragraph above was not happening.
Now this whole time, with the exception of Android 5.0, as long as I didn't have WiFi on or I didn't have control over the WiFi on/off setting, my phone was fairly stable and I was able to get some stuff down, again, with the exception of the Android 5.0 update.

Is it just me or does WiFi turn off when you get an incoming phone call? When I am at home, I am hooked up to wifi. When I get a call on my N5, I can see the wifi disconnect, it connects to LTE, then the phone rings. When I hang up, WiFi will reconnect.

I have a Nexus 5 (USA Google Play Store version) and have had issues with WiFi dropping out for a while now. The WiFi on the phone often freezes. What I mean by freezing is webpage might stop loading half way through or a video might stop streaming and just freezes. To get the WiFi to work again I have to turn WiFi off and then back on again. I have reset the phone and have tried another nexus 5, and still have the same issue. All of the other devices that I have (several computers, tablets, iPhones, an s4, etc) work fine. I have 3 Fritz! box routers that all have the same SSID, password, etc. I am using Verizon Fios.

Is there a switch or something I need to do to have it connect to public wifi accounts? When we were in hotels with free wifi my phone wouldn't connect. It would find the wifi of the hotel to connect to, I would press connect, and then it would take me to a supposed webpage to "log in" for free but that webpage would NEVER load! And I would wait, and wait to no avail.

First and foremost I'm a new Android user coming from the iPhone and I absolutely love everything about it. My one problem isn't Android; however, it's been this N5 wifi connection issue. I cannot connect to my home wifi whatsoever.
I do have unlimited data with my plan but still, the use of WiFi is obviously important. Has Google stated they are working on a fix for this?
I'm at the point of possibly returning my N5 for a different phone as much as I love everything else with this phone.

For the past few weeks, my phone has been struggling to stay connected to my home WiFi. I feel like it might be a problem with the WiFi itself, since my phone remains connected to other WiFi sources. The network shows up on my phone, but just shows its status as "Saved" and won't connect.
I have a Nexus 6, Verizon, on 5.1.1, build LMY48M. It is not rooted, and I don't have any battery saver apps or firewall apps on my phone.
My WiFi at home is Comcast WiFi, a 2.4 GHz signal, with G and N supported protocols, with WPAWPA2-TKIP/AES security. The firewall security is set to low. I have a modem/router combination (the one you lease from Comcast).
I have tried most things described on the internet; forgetting the network on my phone and reconnecting, resetting the wireless modem, updating the modem, switching WiFi on and off, the same with airplane mode, changing my wireless on the phone from automatic to 2.4Ghz and 5GHz, and nothing has worked. If I turn the phone off and then back on, it will reconnect to the WiFi, but will only stay connected for a few hours, at which point it won't connect.
I've had to turn my cellular data off completely because my phone is devouring my mobile data.

I have this problem for some time now (at least since the marshmallow update). If I move my Nexus 5 to a different place, far from the current Wi-Fi AP, it does not connect to the nearest saved AP, it only does that if I wake up the screen.
The Wi-Fi works properly when the screen is off, I still get the notifications and all, I just have to stay connected to the same AP. I have tried everything to find what is the problem, but I can't find it.
I did a factory reset, it was working again, but when I did the first time Google account login, it started again, even on safe mode.
I thought I corrected it by doing another reset and not recovering my account , but when installing some apps it started again.
Every time I think I found the app that causes the problem and uninstall it, the Wi-Fi problem eventually returns
and I don't know what to do more.
What I have found out is that even uninstalling the app I think is the culprit, the Wi-Fi only works again properly if I reboot the phone, so maybe I have not found the app, and the Wi-Fi only works properly because I rebooted the phone?
The apps I have on my phone are the same I have in my Nexus 7 (2013), and with all those apps, the Wi-Fi works properly on the Nexus 7.
Is there anyway to know if is the phones fault, or some app (that makes the Wi-Fi not work properly on the Nexus 5,but not in the Nexus 7)?

I normally have my Nexus 5 phone WiFi connected to my home network and have Data turned off.
If I move out of range of my network obviously the phone's WiFi connection drops.
When I return to within range of my home network my phone doesn't automatically reconnect to my home network. I have to press the power button on the phone to wake up the screen and within a couple of seconds the phone connects to my home network.
When I first got the phone I never had this issue. The phone would reconnect to my home network even though the screen hadn't been woken up.
When I got the phone it was on an older version of Android .. before Android version 5.
I have run the phone in Safe Mode and the automatic reconnect still doesn't occur.
So on Lollipop 5.1.1 should the reconnect to WiFi be automatic ?

I have the following issues:
-(When i lock my phone or when it locks itself it reboots) fixed
-I can't turn on wifi and bluetooth
-(Can't copy files to phone) fixed
I tried this [URL] .... but in the step [URL].....
I don't get any problems. I did the second command but it also didn't solve the issue that I can't copy files. I tried resetting to factory settings twice, didn't do anything. I tried putting it in the refrigerator but didn't do anything.
99% sure it's hardware issue, gonna RMA the phone.

I'm sure many of you have heard that when you enter an incorrect pattern/PIN/password, eventually the phone asks for Google account credentials to unlock it. My Nexus 5 on 5.1.0 does not do this. Does yours? If my lock screen is set to PIN, I can enter as many incorrect attempts as I want, it never asks and never stops me. If I have a pattern set it will let me enter 10 incorrect attempts after which it simply stops me from trying for 30s, but it never asks for Google account credentials.

So this morning I woke up to my phone on a boot loop on the Google Logo. I have no custom roms or mods on it other than I am running ART. I suspect it could be battery related as it will only seem to do this on the charger but when I don't have it plugged in it won't even start up. When it's plugged in it won't even seem to want to stay "off", it boots up to the google logo on its own. If I hold down the volume rocker I can get into the bootloader but it resets before I can select anything and boots right back into the google logo.

Normally I wouldn't care that I'm connected to WiFi but since the WiFi where I work its terrible and there's so many routers to choose from its killing my battery. Even when I turn it off in my settings it just turns on again.

their N6 on Sprint where Sprint service essentially turns off whenever Wi-Fi is on. This is the only way I've been able to describe my issues with the N6. Whenever I am at home, I am usually on Wi-Fi because it works more reliably than LTE. So whenever someone calls me, the call goes straight to voicemail. I only receive a missed call notification if someone leaves a voicemail. I've been able to test this out with family members where I turn on Wi-Fi, they call me, and the call goes straight to VM. Then, I turn off Wi-Fi, they call me again, and I get the call.
Keeping LTE on all the time (and Wi-Fi off) would not be an issue but for the fact that Sprint's service notoriously sucks inside any building made of concrete (even in Manhattan). I'm not ready to switch providers because I've been grandfathered into a no-throttle unlimited everything plan where I essentially can use 5GB of data each month and pay a reasonable price. I moved to NYC recently and before lived in the D.C. area, where I lived in a house adjacent to a tower. There, I didn't mind keeping Wi-Fi off because I always had great LTE.
This is quite frustrating and it appears to be documented to some effect on Sprint's website (without a fix, of course). Sprint has now reset my network, PRL, and profile; and the only other option appears to be replacing the phone through my insurance. I'm hesitant, though, because I preordered a 6P.

I've been having problems with WiFi .
It keeps saying that it's out of range when I'm right next to it. I have to restart my phone in order for it to see it's in range. Not only mine but the one I use at work and Starbucks.
Hope it's not the new update 4.4.3

So about a week ago my WiFi just wouldn't work anymore. When I try to turn it on, it stays stuck at "Turning WiFi on". I think I've tried almost anything to make it work again. I've reflashed the factory image 3 time (Android 6.0), I've tried downgrading to Lollipop 5.1.1 but it still wouldn't work. I took it to a GSM Service and they said that there is no hardware problem.

I'm on a 32gb Google Play purchased white Nexus 5, activated on Sprint. I went through a whole charge cycle yesterday with Wi-Fi off, and under battery usage / Wi-Fi / Use Details / Wi-Fi running, it showed "Wi-Fi running" 17 hours. I never even had Wi-Fi turned on once.
I've been playing with it today, turning Wi-Fi on and off, and no matter what, the Wi-Fi usage time matches my phone on time. It seems according to the battery meter my Wi-Fi is always on.

In an effort to squeeze a little extra battery life from my phone I setup a tasker profile to disable mobile data when on Wifi.
Unfortunately, that means I can't get MMS messages when on Wifi. I'm using hangouts, but don't think it's hangouts specific. If there's a way to make this work?

I flashed factory image of android 6 on the day of the release. I've had worse wifi signal than I had on 5.1.1, a very notable change. In my wife's nexus 5 I waited till the ota update, and that phone doesn't have the same issue. I've tried flashing the radio from 5.1.1,but didn't see any change. I also refreshed to stock 6.0,and performed factory reset.
I'm at like 60% signal when sitting next to the router.
