Google Nexus 5 :: WiFi Disconnect When Screen Turns Off
Dec 18, 2015
I have a little issues with my nexus. When I lock the device, the wifi turn off and reconnect as soon as unlock the device. I've started to have this issue 3 weeks ago, I've updated from stock android 6 to 6.0.1 and the problem are still there (I've tried using cm and 2 or 3 others roms too). I don't have any energy save app or something like that, and the option in "advance wifi" is set in always on.
I'm trying to read the log but I don't understand where is the wifi problem. [URL] ....
I have been having this issue that when i am out of wifi range my n6 does not disconnect from wifi . Looks like its connected but no connection with no data service.
Normally I wouldn't care that I'm connected to WiFi but since the WiFi where I work its terrible and there's so many routers to choose from its killing my battery. Even when I turn it off in my settings it just turns on again.
their N6 on Sprint where Sprint service essentially turns off whenever Wi-Fi is on. This is the only way I've been able to describe my issues with the N6. Whenever I am at home, I am usually on Wi-Fi because it works more reliably than LTE. So whenever someone calls me, the call goes straight to voicemail. I only receive a missed call notification if someone leaves a voicemail. I've been able to test this out with family members where I turn on Wi-Fi, they call me, and the call goes straight to VM. Then, I turn off Wi-Fi, they call me again, and I get the call.
Keeping LTE on all the time (and Wi-Fi off) would not be an issue but for the fact that Sprint's service notoriously sucks inside any building made of concrete (even in Manhattan). I'm not ready to switch providers because I've been grandfathered into a no-throttle unlimited everything plan where I essentially can use 5GB of data each month and pay a reasonable price. I moved to NYC recently and before lived in the D.C. area, where I lived in a house adjacent to a tower. There, I didn't mind keeping Wi-Fi off because I always had great LTE.
This is quite frustrating and it appears to be documented to some effect on Sprint's website (without a fix, of course). Sprint has now reset my network, PRL, and profile; and the only other option appears to be replacing the phone through my insurance. I'm hesitant, though, because I preordered a 6P.
Occasionally, my phone screen will turn as I take it out of my pocket. It only stays on for about a sec. This just started happening about 2 weeks ago. I'm running 6.
Its weird was doing this when I had 5.0.1 whole using youtube only. Now on 5.1 while playing bejeweled type game. The game will start to lag and then half the screen will split an freeze. Doesn't do it all the time very random. I have uninstalled and reinstalled game as well.
My Nexus 6P has the bootloader unlocked but is running completely stock, un-rooted, vanilla android (MDB08M). Project Fi is my carrier. When I am at home and on *most* wireless networks, I see no issue. While I am at work, my wifi constantly disconnects and reconnects. I will pick up my phone, and it will either A) not have wifi (though I have previously been connected) and quickly reconnects or B) Will have wifi, but after some amount of use, will disconnect from wifi, then reconnect a few seconds later.
I've tried all the simple items:Making sure "Keep wifi on during sleep" or whatever the setting is is turned on turn off optimization on Google Connectivity Services
I turned on verbose wifi logs and was able to catch a logcat of when the issue occured. The disconnect occured at almost exactly 9:29:00, as I saw my wifi go out and then almost immediately after the clock tick 9:29. I can't find anything in particular that stands out as the cause or leads to a solution.
I assume it is some misunderstanding between my job's wireless network and my phone. My previous phone (Nexus 4) had none of these issues. I am unclear on whether this is a Marshmallow issue, Project Fi issue, or what software might be causing it. Since it only happens on this certain network, I am making the assumption it is most likely software and not a faulty wireless chip. I have no control over the wireless configuration of the network, so anything on that end is a non-starter.
I have noticed that while in the battery stats screen Wifi is using over 10% of my battery and is on the top of the list. It was never like that in Android 5.1.1. I have restarted my phone several times.
The thing is that whenever I go inside the range a previously accessed wi-fi network, my N5 will only connect to it when I turn the screen on. For example, when I come to my office or my house, it's only when I grab the phone and turn the screen on that I see the device picking up the connection. That's regardless of how long I've been there and how long has the phone been inactive. It also happens when momentarily going outside the range of the router, like going to the bathroom and back in my office. I was told that it's because the phone goes into deep sleep quickly and stops scanning for connections.
I have this problem for some time now (at least since the marshmallow update). If I move my Nexus 5 to a different place, far from the current Wi-Fi AP, it does not connect to the nearest saved AP, it only does that if I wake up the screen.
The Wi-Fi works properly when the screen is off, I still get the notifications and all, I just have to stay connected to the same AP. I have tried everything to find what is the problem, but I can't find it.
I did a factory reset, it was working again, but when I did the first time Google account login, it started again, even on safe mode.
I thought I corrected it by doing another reset and not recovering my account , but when installing some apps it started again.
Every time I think I found the app that causes the problem and uninstall it, the Wi-Fi problem eventually returns and I don't know what to do more.
What I have found out is that even uninstalling the app I think is the culprit, the Wi-Fi only works again properly if I reboot the phone, so maybe I have not found the app, and the Wi-Fi only works properly because I rebooted the phone?
The apps I have on my phone are the same I have in my Nexus 7 (2013), and with all those apps, the Wi-Fi works properly on the Nexus 7.
Is there anyway to know if is the phones fault, or some app (that makes the Wi-Fi not work properly on the Nexus 5,but not in the Nexus 7)?
I have installed Android 6.0 few weeks ago. Since last week I have noticed some weird behaviour. While discharging, when the battery is about 40%, my Nexus 5 turns off immediately. Then, when I am trying to turn it on, I got a low battery warning and can't turn it on. When I connect it to the charger and turn it on, the battery indicator shows about 15-20%.Is my battery going to die? It looks normal, not swollen. I tried reinstalling Marshmallow (with wipe) but it didn't work. When reinstalling system, I noticed an other problem. Stock recovery doesn't work. After flashing it with
Code:
fastboot erase recovery fastboot flash recovery recovery.img I have only the laying android and red triangle picture. TWRP works when flashed the same way. But it disappears after reboot!
My nexus 6 turns off around the 5% battery warning mark is this normal? This is the second faulty unit. First one was giving me audio drop outs and this is the second device to turn off before completely dead.
I have recently noticed a strange issue with my Nexus 5. I have it set to ring when I get a call and once I answer that call and hang up, it automatically turns to vibrate on inbound calls. I kept thinking I was hitting something on accident, but I watched my phone as my husband called and I just ended the call and it turn to vibrate within 2-3 seconds.
Bluetooth has been working perfectly. However last couple of days it keeps turning off by itself disconnecting my LG Round smartwatch. I'm running Android 5.0
Having issue since last night. Battery was 60% approximately. I followed the holding power and volume button and it goes to "restart bootloader" then suddenly nexus shuts off within 5 sec itself. Some times it goes to "Power Off" option but my nexus 5 suddenly shuts down within 5 sec itself. I tried several different chargers including the "official" one that came with the phone, but won't work.
Most of the time my screen is locked and apparently when locked Nokia Lumia 710 disconnects the WiFi. Is it possible to change this, because otherwise I don't receive notifications if I have my 3G off.
I've got this issue for about two or three days now. Quite often, when I take a picture with stock Google camera app, my Nexus turns off instantly. Then, when I try to turn it on again, it often turns off again in about one minute and usually it shows almost empty battery (even though before shutdown it was nearly full).
First it has appeared on stock rooted 4.4.4, the phone tried to boot like 10 times, so I erased cache and dalvik via TWRP, but then it didn't detect SIM card and showed unknown baseband. I solved it by flashing bootloader and radio.
Then, I installed a stock 5.1.1, rooted it again (I thought it would solve the issue), but the same problem with camera occurred. So, could it be hardware issue? How to debug it?
My Iphone (white) turns on then off then on then off then on then off! Finaly when I eventually get to the lock screen it says: conect to power but I charged it last night and the percent bar (top right) says 100% . Now it says to charge with itunes? What am I supposed to do!
I use the daydream feature as a bedside clock. I plug it in, daydream clock comes on and all is good. When I wake up in the middle of the night the screen is off. How to override?
My phone screen would turn on to show the clock only over a black background when let's say I throw in on the bed or put down "not gently". Is this a feature Google added?
Having issue when pressing the power button, the lockscreen will come back on for about 3 seconds and then turn off again. I can't figure out what is causing this to happen.
I am having a new problem with WiFi intermittently disconnecting. It seems to be happening after the screen has been turned off for a while--I turn it back on and the wifi is not connected--once I unlock the phone the wifi then automatically connects. It happens on both my home and work network, and not with any other devices. Haven't changed any settings recently. Tried to turn Smart Network Switch off but that didn't work. "Keep wifi on during sleep" is and has been set to "always".
Possibly related is that a similar thing is happening with Bluetooth. I only have Bluetooth on while driving, and I have noticed that the connection has been randomly disconnecting, and then I have to manually toggle Bluetooth back on and reconnect the phone to the car.
When setting wifi to turn off when screen turns off it does so and that's perfect. However, When the screen is reactivated the wifi locks in "scanning" forever unless you press disable and enable wifi in whech case it will immediately steps scanning > acquiring > connected.
On most recent version of screwd with tk gapps and I can't get wallet to load. It hangs up on the splash screen and never moves. Have tried clearing cache and data, uninstalled and reinstalled, nothing works.
I was sitting down with my nexus on my leg with about 40% battery left when it suddenly turned off and then flicked to the google startup page before going blank. After attempting to turn it on again (to no avail), I resorted to plugging it in, which resulted in the phone looping on the google page then vibrating before repeating. I tried to get it into the bootloader menu, but it appeared and then reverted to the google page after the phone vibrated.
I've tried looking up solutions, but the only plausible situation for me seems to be returning it so the warranty can take over. The only hitch with that being that the bootloader is unlocked (not rooted, just the bootloader). I really am stuck, and do not know what to do
My Nexus 5 suddenly have problems about the WiFi. The WiFi is not working. If I go to setting , it is saying Turning On WiFi and it stucks there for many days. I already tried many things available online like, cache clear , factory resetting, safe mode etc. But nothing worked. It starts happening after latest update from android
It keeps saying that it's out of range when I'm right next to it. I have to restart my phone in order for it to see it's in range. Not only mine but the one I use at work and Starbucks.
So about a week ago my WiFi just wouldn't work anymore. When I try to turn it on, it stays stuck at "Turning WiFi on". I think I've tried almost anything to make it work again. I've reflashed the factory image 3 time (Android 6.0), I've tried downgrading to Lollipop 5.1.1 but it still wouldn't work. I took it to a GSM Service and they said that there is no hardware problem.
