Google Nexus 5 :: Screen Turns On By Itself
Feb 18, 2016Occasionally, my phone screen will turn as I take it out of my pocket. It only stays on for about a sec. This just started happening about 2 weeks ago. I'm running 6.

View 3 RepliesI have a little issues with my nexus. When I lock the device, the wifi turn off and reconnect as soon as unlock the device. I've started to have this issue 3 weeks ago, I've updated from stock android 6 to 6.0.1 and the problem are still there (I've tried using cm and 2 or 3 others roms too). I don't have any energy save app or something like that, and the option in "advance wifi" is set in always on.
I'm trying to read the log but I don't understand where is the wifi problem. [URL] ....
Its weird was doing this when I had 5.0.1 whole using youtube only. Now on 5.1 while playing bejeweled type game. The game will start to lag and then half the screen will split an freeze. Doesn't do it all the time very random. I have uninstalled and reinstalled game as well.
View 4 Replies View RelatedNormally I wouldn't care that I'm connected to WiFi but since the WiFi where I work its terrible and there's so many routers to choose from its killing my battery. Even when I turn it off in my settings it just turns on again.
View 3 Replies View Relatedtheir N6 on Sprint where Sprint service essentially turns off whenever Wi-Fi is on. This is the only way I've been able to describe my issues with the N6. Whenever I am at home, I am usually on Wi-Fi because it works more reliably than LTE. So whenever someone calls me, the call goes straight to voicemail. I only receive a missed call notification if someone leaves a voicemail. I've been able to test this out with family members where I turn on Wi-Fi, they call me, and the call goes straight to VM. Then, I turn off Wi-Fi, they call me again, and I get the call.
Keeping LTE on all the time (and Wi-Fi off) would not be an issue but for the fact that Sprint's service notoriously sucks inside any building made of concrete (even in Manhattan). I'm not ready to switch providers because I've been grandfathered into a no-throttle unlimited everything plan where I essentially can use 5GB of data each month and pay a reasonable price. I moved to NYC recently and before lived in the D.C. area, where I lived in a house adjacent to a tower. There, I didn't mind keeping Wi-Fi off because I always had great LTE.
This is quite frustrating and it appears to be documented to some effect on Sprint's website (without a fix, of course). Sprint has now reset my network, PRL, and profile; and the only other option appears to be replacing the phone through my insurance. I'm hesitant, though, because I preordered a 6P.
I have installed Android 6.0 few weeks ago. Since last week I have noticed some weird behaviour. While discharging, when the battery is about 40%, my Nexus 5 turns off immediately. Then, when I am trying to turn it on, I got a low battery warning and can't turn it on. When I connect it to the charger and turn it on, the battery indicator shows about 15-20%.Is my battery going to die? It looks normal, not swollen. I tried reinstalling Marshmallow (with wipe) but it didn't work. When reinstalling system, I noticed an other problem. Stock recovery doesn't work. After flashing it with
Code:
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
I have only the laying android and red triangle picture. TWRP works when flashed the same way. But it disappears after reboot!
I am getting the 10% battery warning pop up and moments later the phone turns itself off and will not power back on until I plug the power in.
View 22 Replies View RelatedMy nexus 6 turns off around the 5% battery warning mark is this normal? This is the second faulty unit. First one was giving me audio drop outs and this is the second device to turn off before completely dead.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have recently noticed a strange issue with my Nexus 5. I have it set to ring when I get a call and once I answer that call and hang up, it automatically turns to vibrate on inbound calls. I kept thinking I was hitting something on accident, but I watched my phone as my husband called and I just ended the call and it turn to vibrate within 2-3 seconds.
View 1 Replies View RelatedBluetooth has been working perfectly. However last couple of days it keeps turning off by itself disconnecting my LG Round smartwatch. I'm running Android 5.0
View 5 Replies View RelatedHaving issue since last night. Battery was 60% approximately. I followed the holding power and volume button and it goes to "restart bootloader" then suddenly nexus shuts off within 5 sec itself. Some times it goes to "Power Off" option but my nexus 5 suddenly shuts down within 5 sec itself. I tried several different chargers including the "official" one that came with the phone, but won't work.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've got this issue for about two or three days now. Quite often, when I take a picture with stock Google camera app, my Nexus turns off instantly. Then, when I try to turn it on again, it often turns off again in about one minute and usually it shows almost empty battery (even though before shutdown it was nearly full).
First it has appeared on stock rooted 4.4.4, the phone tried to boot like 10 times, so I erased cache and dalvik via TWRP, but then it didn't detect SIM card and showed unknown baseband. I solved it by flashing bootloader and radio.
Then, I installed a stock 5.1.1, rooted it again (I thought it would solve the issue), but the same problem with camera occurred. So, could it be hardware issue? How to debug it?
My Iphone (white) turns on then off then on then off then on then off! Finaly when I eventually get to the lock screen it says: conect to power but I charged it last night and the percent bar (top right) says 100% . Now it says to charge with itunes? What am I supposed to do!
Info:
iPhone 4, I don't know what the problem is?
I use the daydream feature as a bedside clock. I plug it in, daydream clock comes on and all is good. When I wake up in the middle of the night the screen is off. How to override?
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy phone screen would turn on to show the clock only over a black background when let's say I throw in on the bed or put down "not gently". Is this a feature Google added?
View 7 Replies View RelatedHaving issue when pressing the power button, the lockscreen will come back on for about 3 seconds and then turn off again. I can't figure out what is causing this to happen.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOn most recent version of screwd with tk gapps and I can't get wallet to load. It hangs up on the splash screen and never moves. Have tried clearing cache and data, uninstalled and reinstalled, nothing works.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was sitting down with my nexus on my leg with about 40% battery left when it suddenly turned off and then flicked to the google startup page before going blank. After attempting to turn it on again (to no avail), I resorted to plugging it in, which resulted in the phone looping on the google page then vibrating before repeating. I tried to get it into the bootloader menu, but it appeared and then reverted to the google page after the phone vibrated.
I've tried looking up solutions, but the only plausible situation for me seems to be returning it so the warranty can take over. The only hitch with that being that the bootloader is unlocked (not rooted, just the bootloader). I really am stuck, and do not know what to do
I am inordinately happy about this, but also annoyed that I didn't know about it earlier. It was in the Google Settings app rather than the phone's settings, so I missed it! This was the one feature I envied on the Moto X and I had it all this time!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI switched from Samsung. There is a function with Samsung customized version of Android that when I play video full screen and hit on/off button, the screen is locked but video keeps playing. That is a really useful function.
Any 3rd party app that can do the same?
So one thing I do miss from my Note 4 was the ability to clip screenshots. You could just take out the S Pen and it would take a screenshot and you could crop it and draw on it, etc.
Then you could easily share it and it didn't save it to your device.
Back when I had the LG G2 it had similar functionality, but it was via a built in app that was easily accessed from the Notification tray.
Is there a Play Store app that would offer similar functionality. Ideally I could swipe down on the screen, and access an app. The app then would allow me to crop or draw on the pic and send it.
When I look for them in the Play Store they seem to be more focused on screen recording or something.
Over the last 3 days ive noticed my phone using a lot more battery than it usually does, i can usually get upto 2 days battery usage when its used frequently, but it has been getting less than a day over the last 3 days.
I turned the phone off with the power button and tried to turn it on again, The instant i press the power button the screen turns on (stays black but becomes a dark grey with the backlight) for about 30 seconds, but nothing else happens, the screen turns off after those 30 seconds and its back to square 1.I have tried turning it on again without a sim card, or memory card, or both and still the same result
Definitely a hardware problem as it does it on recovery. It is getting progressively worse.
Used to be when it was hot, bit even doing it at normal temperature now. Took phone apart and remade all connectors, still the same.
So here is the deal: I have a nexus 5 that fell into water 1 month ago, i did all the procedures, rice + brushed all the circuits with isopropilic alcohol (100%) (oh, it stayed like 2 hours under water!). After doing that amazingly the cell phone was working perfectly, until after one month the screen started going black:
1- turn the cellphone on
2 - everything works fine, i get to the unlock phone screen
3 - while at the unlock phone screen i can see notifications for exemple, turn the cell phone to airplane mode, etc.
4- once i click on a notification or i unlock the screen, the screen goes black. and it happens every time that i unlock the screen
Sometimes i turn the cellphone on and it works normally for a couple of seconds or a couple of minutes and then the problem comes back. First i tought it could be a software problem, so i cleaned the cache, it didn't work. Then i did a factory reset, the problem was still there, so the only guess left for me is that something is malfunctioning because of the water damage. But, it only turns black once i unlock the phone.
some parts of the screen looks purple/yellow like I pressed too hard or something
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy wife's nexus 5 is set to go to sleep after 30s of not using it. But that's not the case. ATM I'm waiting for more than 2 mins, and it's still on. Besides that, we have noticed that, sometimes, screen turns on without any reason. No notifications, or anything. We just find it on. And staying on...
Phone is unrooted, so on 4.4.4 stock.
last year I dropped it and the front glass covering the LCD broke. As it didn't affected the digitizer (and I was running a bit low on money) I decided to don't replace it right away. The time passed and it keept working until (something like 10 or 11 months later) it started to shut down by itself, either it had 90% of battery or 15%. As the boot took a bit to complete it shuts down before it gets to the running OS. The only way to avoid this powering offs was to having it pluged in to the charger. At first I thought it was a bug or something like that, so I unrooted it and got the stock vanilla android. 5.1 I think it was by that time. It didn't solve the problem. When the Marshmallow update was available I installed it hoping it could fix the problem but it also didn't work. With two versions of the stock android not solving the problem I concluded it wasn't a software problem and began to think it could be something to do with the broken glass. Maybe it wasn't just the glass that got broken. I bought a replacement for the display and replaced it. But, well, it also didn't solve the problem.
Now I have a neat condition Nexus 5 that keeps shutting down everytime the screen is on for more than one or two minutes.
A quick Google search says the Nexus 6 does not support HDMI. I will be taking a couple trips out of the country where I am hoping to access live sports on my phone but would like to watch them on a TV of course.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSometimes when I touch power button to start using the device, only empty standard ( factory standard) wallpaper shows up, no user interface at all. What is more the screen keeps going on/off uncontrollably about once per second. There is no way to interact with the device. Only thing that works is to press power long enough to get "turn power off" option and restart.
