Galaxy S6 Edge :: WiFi And Bluetooth Disconnecting When Screen Turns Off?
Jun 13, 2015
I am having a new problem with WiFi intermittently disconnecting. It seems to be happening after the screen has been turned off for a while--I turn it back on and the wifi is not connected--once I unlock the phone the wifi then automatically connects. It happens on both my home and work network, and not with any other devices. Haven't changed any settings recently. Tried to turn Smart Network Switch off but that didn't work. "Keep wifi on during sleep" is and has been set to "always".
Possibly related is that a similar thing is happening with Bluetooth. I only have Bluetooth on while driving, and I have noticed that the connection has been randomly disconnecting, and then I have to manually toggle Bluetooth back on and reconnect the phone to the car.
Just to be more specific, the phones charges, but if I want to use it as media device, I'm told you have to unlock it, fine, but when I finally get to see my storage on my PC screen, after a couple seconds it disconnects, meaning I don't see it anymore, anywhere on my PC, but phone still charges.
Couple of seconds afterwards, back up again..as you imagine, backing up photos/videos is impossible, I don't have the time to transfer huge amount of data before I'm prompt with a message telling me it has been cancelling due to not finding the file anymore..
My S6 connects fine to my car. However, it keeps disconnecting even if im not using it. I didn't have this issue before on my Note 4. This is a software or hardware issue before i return it ?
I have an android wear watch. G watch R. Never had any issues with it. Since getting S6 the phone will occasionally disconnect for a short while and the reconnect.
I'm having this problem on my tmobile s6 where my phone screen will freeze randomly but it only happens anytime i lose connection to wifi. When the phone unfreezes, it always shows that I now connected to my wifi network. I am on xtrestolite rom (tmo version) , stock kernel....
Having issues with 5GHz wifi becoming unresponsive and needing to be turned off and immediately back on to kick it into working? I've got Smart Network Switch and Download Booster (switch to mobile data if wifi is no good; use wifi + LTE) both switched off, so they shouldn't be a factor..
I even switched them back on and then off just to be sure that they were in fact off. After a painful day spent trying to transfer data to the new phone, and installing all of my usual apps - having to disable and renable wifi at least 50 times throughout the day - I decided to switch from using my 5GHz wifi to 2.4GHz (same router), and it now seems fine. Switching back to 5, and I end up back with the same result - wifi will work fine for a while before stopping.
My Galaxy S5 has no issue using the 5GHz (and neither do any other devices I have), so it doesn't appear to be the router (Asus RT-AC87U) at fault unless there's just some compatibility issue with the S6.
My galaxy s5 is disconnecting from my wife though I have all the settings for that type of thing off.. It disconnects and reconnects the moment it disconnects... What could be the issue?
My wifi connection needs manually connecting every time my screen goes off. It connect fine, works fine but as soon as I am done and the screen goes off...hey presto I need to manually connect to wifi again. It didn't used to do this and it's very annoying. I have keep wifi on during sleep in advance and I have a z3.
My iPhone 4s keeps disconnecting from my wifi and goes to 3G everytine the screen is locked.
I noticed this problem yesterday. I searched and googled but no luck. Someone mentioned that he/she had the same problem but managed to find the solution.

I tried that one but it only applies to 3rd party routers, i have airport extreme 4th generation as my base station, and airport express 1st generation as wired extender.
All my other devices are fine, wife's iPhone 3G, both iPad 23G and wifi. Only my iPhone 4s All firmwares are up to date on all appale devices that i have.
So the last few days I've had problems with WiFi disconnecting and reconnecting over and over and thought that was the cause of my battery draining tons faster then normal, used to last at least most if not all day with pretty constant use and now it's barely making it 5 hours without needing a charge. Att pushed the 4.4.4 update today and after turning the WiFi smart switch back off the WiFi problem seems to be better but my battery is still draining, just not quite as fast.
My wifi keeps disconnecting from my ap (no internet esp8266) all my other devices have no problem keep connected.. is something related to network switch i think, but in settings is off..
A few days ago my pebble arrived. After pairing my pebble to my phone I noticed a noticeable drop in Bluetooth audio quality.
This has to be a problem that's addressed. I don't know if it's a android problem or just the device specific but what I found out is that this occurs on the LG G4 as well. Seems happen when your phone is paired with a Bluetooth LE device while also paired to a Bluetooth Audio device.
My Iphone (white) turns on then off then on then off then on then off! Finaly when I eventually get to the lock screen it says: conect to power but I charged it last night and the percent bar (top right) says 100% . Now it says to charge with itunes? What am I supposed to do!
S6 Edge or regular S6 experienced the infamous Bluetooth skipping issue? Both my wife's new S6 Edge and mine are doing it. Both have latest Verizon update, I have cleared cache partition, cleared Bluetooth partition, tried the keeping screen on trick to no avail. Having your music Skip no matter which music app I use, natter the coverage area as well.
Samsung s6 edge sees my lg watch r in Bluetooth settings but will not connect, yet in the android wear app it shows the watch as connected. All works well under wifi but just won't stay stable under Bluetooth....
I have the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and every time it sync to my 2014 Honda Accord the volume sync and plays music at extremely low volume even on max. Compared to almost any other phone like my iphone 4s that sync the audio for my music no problem. I tried turning the media on and off and deleting the device completely off the bluetooth list and re-adding which still does not work. I am using mobilego and it sucks as it won’t let you sort the order of your music.
I have a little issues with my nexus. When I lock the device, the wifi turn off and reconnect as soon as unlock the device. I've started to have this issue 3 weeks ago, I've updated from stock android 6 to 6.0.1 and the problem are still there (I've tried using cm and 2 or 3 others roms too). I don't have any energy save app or something like that, and the option in "advance wifi" is set in always on.
I'm trying to read the log but I don't understand where is the wifi problem. [URL] ....
I am on Sprint and I am unable to send a MMS (group message) over wifi? I was chatting with Sprint text support and they are trying to tell me this is a limitation for Android phones. I know this is BS because my wife has a HTC M8. Am I doing something wrong? Are others experiencing this with their Edge S6?
Their solution is to send MMS messages over mobile data. I do not think it is acceptable to have to toggle between mobile and wifi to send group messages. I did test and the group/MMS messaging does work on Mobile data so this is purely limited to my wifi being an issue...
I used to have the S5 and was playing Spotify via Bluetooth onto my car stereo system which is a Dodge Journey with the UConnect system. All worked fine. Recently got the S6 Edge and now can't get it to remain connected for more than 30 seconds. Phone says Bluetooth has unexpectedly stopped working.
I have my S6 Edge connected via Bluetooth and each time there is a new chapter in Audible or a pause in Pandora audio, I noticed that audio fades in after a few seconds. This makes me lose a little bit of the audio each time. Is there some sort off Bluetooth optimization going on here or a tweak I can perform so that this doesn't happen anymore?
How to change the default app that gets launched when Bluetooth connects? It seems to always launch the built in music app which is definitely not what I want. Can I set this to Spotify or something else?
I have an s6 edge that is paired with my computer. when i send an album from my phone to my computer via bluetooth the message says sent to your computer, but I cannot find the album anywhere on it
I transferred/restored all my info and apps to it used it all day till night perfectly fine. It was fast, wifi working fine, etc. Then tonight I installed Go Launcher on it and played with it for like 10 mins and then noticed wifi stopped working. I turned wifi off and when I tried to turn it back on it failed, I kept trying until wifi turned on. Mean while the phone was super super slow so I turned off power saving mode but it didnt work. Then I noticed wifi started turning off on it own. My next step was remove Go launcher but it didnt fix anything, the issues stayed. Next I reset it to factory setttings but when it came on, wifi was failing (and phone slow) even during the initial set up wizard.
The phone was completely fine during the whole day.And my biggest worry is that this is an exchanged phone. I originally got a supposedly new s5 from ebay, (from a guy with thousands of reviews/transactions and like 98% positive score) but eventually I realized the battery was fake and that the IR blasted didnt work. He agreed to exchanged it and I received it yesterday and now today the phone has already failed but in the weirdest way possible by being completely fine for the majority of the day.
When setting wifi to turn off when screen turns off it does so and that's perfect. However, When the screen is reactivated the wifi locks in "scanning" forever unless you press disable and enable wifi in whech case it will immediately steps scanning > acquiring > connected.
I've found my wifi connection at home to be dropping non-stop, and then immediately reconnecting. It's only happening on my S6 edge. Even though my wife's phone (and my laptop) stay connected, I reset the router. Nothing. I also cleared my cache. Smart Network Switch has been off to preserve battery life.
Would rather not factory reset, but will if that's my only option.
