Phone reboots by itself, now that has stopped but the WiFi won't connect. Go to settings and phone stuck in WiFi turning on and the on/off slide is greyed out.
View 1 RepliesTwo days ago, all of a sudden (The phone often forgets wifi networks, I was using the Wifi password recovery & backup app, but that can't be the problem, I use it all the time), but all of a sudden, after a reboot, my wifi is turned off. I already found that to be strange, but then it became even stranger: when I tried to turn it on, it kept on 'turning it on' but never actually turned it on! (the switch is still dark gray in the 'on' fase). I tried to figure out why it was doing this, the last apps I installed were Tasker, Autovoice and secure settings, so I uninstalled them, no difference. I tried disabeling my xposed framework, no difference.
I tried wiping Cache and Dalvik cache, no difference. I accedently (swipe to wipe is dangerous!) completely wiped my phone, but still no difference. Then, using the Nexus Root Toolkit, I reverted back to stock and unrooted. Then finally, my wifi came back on . So I slowly installed everything again (stupid me had no backup) and the wifi kept working for a day.... And till now it's been off, not willing to turn on . It must be some app I installed I guess. I also tried to change kernels but again with no succes... Oh and my mac-adress is also nowhere to be found, is that normal when the wifi is turned off?
I have the following issues:
-(When i lock my phone or when it locks itself it reboots) fixed
-I can't turn on wifi and bluetooth
-(Can't copy files to phone) fixed

I don't get any problems. I did the second command but it also didn't solve the issue that I can't copy files. I tried resetting to factory settings twice, didn't do anything. I tried putting it in the refrigerator but didn't do anything.
99% sure it's hardware issue, gonna RMA the phone.
I got my Nexus 5 on the 2nd of this month. I'm on Android 4.4.4. Just today, I was out and about and I realized that, although I was going into settings and turning Wi-Fi off, it just kept turning it right back on! (I had been using the Wi-Fi at the mall, then later I went to a friend's house and connected to my friend's Wi-Fi, which did not work.) So, I turned on my data, only for it to turn off after I guess about 30 seconds. I turned it back on, went on WhatsApp, in the middle of replying to a text from my friend it goes off yet again! What the... So, I went into settings and turned data on, and Wi-Fi off. As I watched, the Wi-Fi switched itself back on, and, predictably, even though there were no wireless networks to connect to, my data turned off as well.
This is really inconvenient. What could be causing the problem? I don't think I've downloaded any apps recently, but they do sometimes update. It was working fine on Thursday, but I've had my data off since then. I also booted into Safe Mode, and the problem doesn't seem to persist.
After finally getting access to the wifi button in safe mode, I knew the issue was caused by an app. The only one I had recently installed was TMobile. Sure enough, uninstalling it solved all 3 of these issues.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm on a 32gb Google Play purchased white Nexus 5, activated on Sprint. I went through a whole charge cycle yesterday with Wi-Fi off, and under battery usage / Wi-Fi / Use Details / Wi-Fi running, it showed "Wi-Fi running" 17 hours. I never even had Wi-Fi turned on once.
I've been playing with it today, turning Wi-Fi on and off, and no matter what, the Wi-Fi usage time matches my phone on time. It seems according to the battery meter my Wi-Fi is always on.
I just got a nexus 5 turned on updated google now waiting for the wi-fi to turn on. At prsent phone just sitting there with "Turning Wi-Fi on" message..

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy WiFi is intermittently disconnecting when my device is asleep. I wake it up and the WiFi is often 'disconnected', but connects automatically once it's awake.
When I wake my phone, there's no WiFi connection and there's a little '?' next to the mobile signal icon - but when I wake it up, the WiFi connects and the '?' on the mobile signal disappeared.
'Keep WiFi on during the sleep' is toggled to 'always', so I really can't understand why it's doing this.
I've had Lollipop for about a month now, but it's only started happening today. I've 'forgot' the network, restarted the device and reconnected, but it's still dropping out when my phone's asleep.
I can't seem to figure out why my WiFi keeps turning on and off all by it self. Connects for like a 30 secs and then reconnects, then disconnects and reconnects.
Things I've done:
- Avoid poor connections is off.
- Reset router.
- Reset phone.
- Disconnected and reconnect to router.
- Router firmware up to date.
Every so often, my Nexus 5 (stock, unrooted and un-rommed) will freeze (normally when playing either Castle Clash or Asphalt 8) and i'll have to force reboot. This is not a problem. It happens.
My issue is when it powers back on, Wi-Fi will be on, even though it wasnt on before the force reboot. This has only been happening since 4.4.3. While it's not a major issue, it is a minor annoyance. Ive checked my Wi-Fi settings and everything is normal. Is there anything i can do to sort this?
My phone often rebooting after I unlocked the screen. I don't remember when it started behaving like this, but I already did a clean flash, change the rom, swith unlock to 'none' but didn't work.

The issue started few days ago and I am using this ROM since long time.
I have a Nexus 5 with Android 4.4.4 and CyanogenMod 11. Like always, it had been working really find untill today, when it started to reboot and entered in a loop. I found out that it was because the power button was broken and with the lightest touch, it would activate. Searching through the Internet I found out that many people happen to have this problem. I tried to disable the power button editing a file that is found under /system/usr/keylayout/qpnp_pon.kl, where I had to simply comment the line where the power button was.
Now, if I click the power button it doesn't happen anything, like I was expecting, but after 30 seconds of clicking it, it shuts down and it reboots like if it was an internal error or someting similar that caused that reboot.Is it possible that disabling it the way I did could cause any type of problem that made it reboot after touching it?
I know it's an internal problem or something like this because when I touch it, it doesn't lock the screen or show the power menu, so the button itself is kind of "disabled", but it keeps causing this problem.
So ever since yesterday I've been able to use WiFi. I was chromecasting something and while it was casting my phone went through a reboot, thought nothing of it since its happened lately. Well i think it did it a few times. Well I check my phone after my show is over and my WiFi is off., and I can't turn it on. I rooted my phone last night since it was unlocked already from when I had it rooted before. It's on Android 6.0 right now. I was getting a logcat error in reference to the wifistatemachine.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo this morning I woke up to my phone on a boot loop on the Google Logo. I have no custom roms or mods on it other than I am running ART. I suspect it could be battery related as it will only seem to do this on the charger but when I don't have it plugged in it won't even start up. When it's plugged in it won't even seem to want to stay "off", it boots up to the google logo on its own. If I hold down the volume rocker I can get into the bootloader but it resets before I can select anything and boots right back into the google logo.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a nexus 5 that I was preparing to hand down to my wife. I had transfered everything over to my new phone, and initiated a factory reset. It rebooted to the "erasing" screen, and sat there for about 20 minutes, before switching to the dead android screen (w/ red triangle.) I thought that was odd, did some searching, and tried the recovery mode from the bootloader. That produced the same results. So now I'm stuck.
From the boot loader I can access the following options:
Start -> Erases for ~20 minutes, then dead android
Restart Bootloader -> Screen goes blank, phone vibrates, and then back to the bootloader screen
Recovery Mode -> Erases for ~20 minutes, then dead android
Power off -> turns off the phone
I called Google, and the tech support hadn't heard of anything like this. Because it's almost two years old, he transferred me to LG's tech support, who basically said find a local repair shop, or they could RMA it for an unknown cost.I'm pretty sure the phone is bricked at this point, which is frustrating, because it was running stock android - completely unmodified. I think I might have rooted it once, months ago, but I can't imagine that that would have caused this issue. I had even received and installed Marshmallow OTA, and it was running perfectly.
Anyway, some program I might be able to use on the PC to regain access to my device.

My Nexus 5 has been bootlooping. I am able to get into the recovery menu and erase the cache and format the system. However, when I plug it in via usb, my computer does not see it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'd just update d phone to lollipop few weeks ago. Ever since then, my phone became very slow n freeze very often. Sometimes it will automatically turned off on its own.
This morning, when I was reading mail n updating some apps, it freezes.
So I went fastboot n try to wipe cache. But it keeps failed to mount cache... Err... Ok. So try turned it off n leave it for a while. After bout 10mins, I try turn it back on, it stuck on d bootloop screen for an hour.
Over the last few days, I have been getting reboots at least once a day. I can't figure out why.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter being connected to WiFi for a while the wifi speeds drop to less than a quarter of their normal speeds, e.g. at home 6 Mbps drops to 1.4 Mbps. It is the same at work connecting to an enterprise level AP (although speed drop is 30 Mbps to about 5 so less of a problem).
I know it is device related as other devices tested at the same time are at the right speed.
Toggling WiFi off then on again returns everything to normal speed.
It's like it reverts to power saving mode. Didn't have this problem with my 4 or current N7.
I have been having this issue that when i am out of wifi range my n6 does not disconnect from wifi . Looks like its connected but no connection with no data service.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo for about a week and a half, my Nexus 5 would not allow me to turn on my WiFi. When it first started, if I tried to turn on WiFi then my phone would just shut down and start back up like nothing happened. If I had the WiFi on already, then it would randomly reboot until I turned WiFi off. I searched threads and found nothing that wouldn't void my warranty (I got it in March).
After a couple days, rather than randomly turning off, my Nexus chose to just never let me control the WiFi ever again. I attached a photo to the post that shows what it looks like when I go into my WiFi settings. I no longer have any control over whether my WiFi is on or off, although it has been stuck on the "Turning On WiFi" phase for well over 2 days. Also, all these reboots are hard reboots as in, it doesn't warn me, the screen just goes black and starts back up. Heres what I have tried to solve this issue:
- Reboot
- Format Cache
- Startup in Safe Mode
- Uninstall some Apps
- Contact Google
- Factory Reset
- Updating all my Apps
- Installing Android 5.0*
* This leads me to my second issue, if my screen turns its self off or I press the power button on the side of my Nexus to get the screen to turn off, then my phone just hard reboots. What's even worse is that if I leave it on in my pocket and it randomly restarts due to it automatically dimming/turning off the screen, then, until I hold down the power button to normal power off, my phone will be stuck in a reboot loop. My screen dims, then turns off, then it just reboots and it does this again and again and again. This issue only started happening AFTER the Android L or Android 5.0 (whatever you prefer to call it) update.
All while this is happening, my Bluetooth refuses to turn on, almost like my WiFi, but with my Bluetooth, if I slide the circle to one side to turn it on, it just randomly snaps back into the "Off" position. I contacted Google before Android 5 came out, so the dim screen/power button problem I listed in the paragraph above was not happening.
Now this whole time, with the exception of Android 5.0, as long as I didn't have WiFi on or I didn't have control over the WiFi on/off setting, my phone was fairly stable and I was able to get some stuff down, again, with the exception of the Android 5.0 update.
I'll be using my phone and sometimes, it'll just shutoff as if you were to press and hold the power button to force it to reboot. I'm on the stock ROM and just reflashed the latest image and its still doing it, is my power button faulty?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Nexus 5 (USA Google Play Store version) and have had issues with WiFi dropping out for a while now. The WiFi on the phone often freezes. What I mean by freezing is webpage might stop loading half way through or a video might stop streaming and just freezes. To get the WiFi to work again I have to turn WiFi off and then back on again. I have reset the phone and have tried another nexus 5, and still have the same issue. All of the other devices that I have (several computers, tablets, iPhones, an s4, etc) work fine. I have 3 Fritz! box routers that all have the same SSID, password, etc. I am using Verizon Fios.

It would find the wifi of the hotel to connect to, I would press connect, and then it would take me to a supposed webpage to "log in" for free but that webpage would NEVER load! And I would wait, and wait to no avail.
