I can't download mms attachments in the S6 message app. I always get the "failed to download attachment from multimedia message. Try again later" response. The attachments are pictures sent from my wife's iPhone 6s.

"Failed to retrieve multimedia message please try later" is what it constantly displays.
As far i am aware i have deleted all old mms and have auto retrieve disabled on advice of the stage fright virus prevention,could it be that?
On my current SII (before the ics upgrade & after) whenever sending an SMS text message over a certain length, the message "converting to multimedia message" appears. This did not happen with with my previous SII. It is mildly annoying.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to forward a text message to more than 10 people by using the contacts menu to select the recipients, the message changes from text message to multimedia message.
Since, I do not have a subscription for multimedia messages with my service provider, the message remains in the outbox and never gets sent.
Can someone advice why the text message converts to multimedia message? How to prevent this from happening everytime I send/forward text message to more than 10 people from the contacts list?
The multimedia key on my Nokia N79 is broken (nr 3 in the picture). My plan was to map the 'multimedia menu' functionality on the left selection key (nr 2). But the 'multimedia menu' doesn't appear in the list of possible mappings. It is also impossible to reach the 'multimedia menu' via the normal menu.
Conclusion: if the multimedia key is broken, it appears that it is impossible to use the 'multimedia menu'
Does anyone know a workaround? Or, if Nokia is reading this, can you add the 'multimedia menu' to the mapping-options for the selection keys?
I have had my Sensation for almost a year now and the multimedia messages have never worked. I have never been able to send pictures to people. Would love some help on this please as I'm starting to get fed up with it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been loving the 5.1.1 update but the messaging app has been a mixed bag, I've seen others complaining about the greyed out texts with timestamp and it's great group chats work now, but the problem I have been having is that the group chat messages don't come through about 80% of the time, I got a message of "you have a multimedia message ready to be downloaded" then when I try to download it I get a failure message.

There is this "download now" button, but nothing happens when I click... Also, I can't send pictures. There's a red X on the left of the message I tried to send. This has probably been covered elsewhere but I haven't come across any answers yet! I bought a SIM free 2700 classic at the end of last year. I'm unable to send multimedia messages and have been unable to register it on My Nokia as the IMEI is unrecognised. I've checked the SIM card being used in another phone and there are no problems.

View 9 Replies View RelatedSpoken to T-mobile and they sent me the settings as they should be. I have saved them and tried again. But picture of video parts of messages aren't going through, only the text parts arrive. I can go to the phone settings and see the data being sent, and it is always the correct amount. But the multimedia bits don't get there. Yet I can send them to myself. The people I send to, can send and receive multimedia just fine to other people. Could someone on T-mobile post all their settings please?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhile entering an SMS (text), when I reach a certain unknown number of written characters my N8 pops up message saying, 'Message type changed to multimedia msg.' There's-one-little-glitch: Where I live MMS service is - not - available! If I delete even one (1) character I get another pop up saying, 'Msg type changed to text msg.'
Nokia's solution: When the N8 tries to convert to mms go to Options > Sending Options > msg type > Text. Nokia's solution fails immediately after pressing 'Options' because there is NO 'Sending Options' option to select! How - can I disable/remove/get rid of this unwanted/forced MMS change over so I can write and send as many characters as I want/need in SMS (text).
At the bottom of my screen I get a message that something is "unable to download" and it is not clickable. I can not figure out where this is coming from. Looked at text msg and play store, I can't see anything. I am on lollipop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I have a galaxy s5 made with Verizon that my mother bought for me unlocked and so I use at&t service and Sim card. I can send regular text messages fine but multimedia is an issue. I cannot send multimedia. I use the app that came on the phone that says Messaging instead of the Verizon messaging app. I'm not sure if I can use the Verizon one since I have at&t service. It is too expensive to switch everything to Verizon instead of the at&t stuff I bought. So... when I try to send a pic it takes forever and then says it failed everytime. If I try to select Download on any pic sent to me it takes forever then just doesn't ever do anything. I'm not sure why I'm having this issue and I've looked around for answers but haven't found anything that works. I've restarted the phone and my data is turned on. I have turned the WiFi on and off. What can I do to fix this and send and receive pics?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Galaxy S5 with lots of pictures attached to text messages. When I attach my phone to my PC and search for those pictures, I cannot locate them. Only see the camera shots I took in the DCIM subfolders.

So, I noticed that when you go to edit contacts, you can customize the "MESSAGE TONE" for each contact you would like. To me, I assumed this meant that if they text you, whatever tone you selected would play. However, this does not appear to be the case. I set my wife to have a custom message tone that I transferred from my PC, however, when she texts me, the default text message noise happens.
Is there no way to customize specific tones for specific contacts? I just want to customize it so, let's say, if I don't have a second to grab my phone instantly, I will know who it is based on what tone that plays.
I'm wondering if it's the default text message program, the VERIZON MESSAGES+, that is not allowing this feature to work properly.
Need getting custom text tones to work? Do I need to download another text app? If so, what one would you recommend? This default VERIZON MESSAGES+ seems a bit bland.

I have checked thru all the folders and saved messages folders and I can't find the message anywhere. When I get a new email or SMS/MMS text messages it says I have the number plus 1, but I can't find the message or get rid of the icon. I have looked in all the Instant messaging folders and still can't find the message.
