Galaxy S5 :: Stopping Hangouts Vibration For New Texts
Sep 8, 2014
I started using Hangouts again for SMS on my Verizon S5 and quickly remembered why I had stopped in the first place. I cannot seem to turn off the Hangouts app vibrations for new texts. See, I use Light Flow for all my notifications, and I have it set up to vibrate twice when I get a new text message. Light Flow is working fine, but the problem is that there is always a third, longer vibration immediately before the Light Flow ones. I assume it's coming from the Hangouts app itself but I've poured through every setting, turned off vibrate everywhere I've seen it, and yet the single, long vibrate persists. I've even gone through all the main phone settings to no avail. I'm also relatively certain that Light Flow isn't the issue; when I disable that app, I still get the single, long vibration from Hangouts.
I currently do the majority of my texting from Google Hangouts on my computer. However on my phone, the only Android app that will actively sync these text messages (and receive new ones) is the hangouts android app. I'm trying to switch to another app while still being able to text from hangouts from my computer. Is this possible?
Sporadically when a new incoming call comes in my X10 mini pro is still ringing, after answering the call, i.e. I can talk to caller but the ringing tone and vibration alarm is still activated / on and therefore the conversation is almost not understandable....
I am having a problem where I cannot text to 6 digit numbers (for card balances and whatnot) because there is a +1 in front of the number. There is no way to edit the number before sending the text. I have tried deleting the contact and manually typing the 6 digit number but it still adds +1 in front of it (which gives me an error when I send the text) . How to get hangouts to remove the +1?
For whatever reason, Pandora stops after each song when my phone goes off and the only way to go to the next song is by turning the screen back on and opening the app. WiFi is set to always on during sleep. I'm connected via Bluetooth if that matters. Is it the app? There's a setting in advanced in Pandora about auto lock and I have clicked and unclicked and it still stops after each song. Once I turn the screen back on and open the app, the advertisement turns back on or the next song plays.
Google hangouts not updating their conversations properly? Messages I send don't show up in the chat unless I exit the conversation and then go back in. What gives? Is this something with hangouts or the s6? Like maybe the ram management thing?
And while we're in it, is it me or did the Google keyboard get noticeably worse too? Auto correct isn't as accurate or reliable anymore. I also notice they've removed the aggressive auto correct feature.
So i have been using a Galaxy S5 for about a month now... I noticed i was getting fullscreen pop ups and i though it was some downloaded apps and i removed them. But I am still getting them and i noticed it was only when I backout completely out of hangouts messaging app. If i press home or switch to another app I dont see the add. It has a grey background and the letter "i" on bottom left corner where i can press and it displays "ads by google".
I have scanned with Lookout, App brain and some other popular ad detector tools and nothing pops up so my guess is some setting on the phone that i might be opting out of something. Or maybe i turned off bloatware that is causing me this. My wife has the same phone and uses hangouts and its not getting the pop ups.
I have noticed that if you are not using Samsung's default messaging application that you will not receive any "edge" notifications from your 5 favorite contacts. Need getting these to work if Hangouts is set as your default SMS application?
Earlier this week I updated my edge to 5.1.1. Ever since I randomly get the error message "unfortunately hangouts has stopped". I have never used hangouts and it has been disabled since the day I got my phone. I tried clearing the cache and it still happens. I use the stock texting app and have never even looked at hangouts. I tried to diagnose what was causing this, but it happens at random times.
I have a T-Mobile S6 and when I'm connected to WIFI, hangouts notifications do not get pushed. I have to manually open hangouts and all of the notifications come flooding in. Never see this issue with WIFI off.
Since merging Hangouts & Google Voice, when I go to listen to my voicemails, they quit playing. I get the notification in Hangouts that I have a new voicemail, but when I click on the play button, and place the phone to my ear, the message stops playing. Didn't have this issue in the Voice app.
I have a Galaxy S5 and would like to be able to stop the notification of receiving an e-mail without stopping the notification of text messages. Is there a way to differentiate? I was able to do this on older phones.
On silent and normal profiles, the vibration stops after around 20 seconds even though the incoming call persists. How do I get the vibration to continue?
Everytime I take my phone off of power save mode, my vibration feedback turns off on its own and I always have to turn it back on manually. What's causing this?
I use the stock messaging app, and when I get a text message, my phone doesn't vibrate. Yes, I have vibrate checked in the notification settings of the Messages app, and every other notification vibrates my phone.
Updated to Lollipop last night and frustratingly I am now getting the same vibration notification for everything where as before it was for example 2 shorts vibrates for texts, 1 long vibrate for emails etc. Because I use my phone mainly on vibrate I need this so I know what kind of alert I am getting in my poket.
I first had vibration feedback when my fingerprint did not match for screen unlocking. But now I have realized that my phone no longer vibrates upon not matching my fingerprint to the records it's got. It only says "no match" on the bottom of screen, without any vibration.
Since I've played around with my phone settings I'm guessing it might be something I have accidentally disabled. So I went back to settings and browsed through everywhere that looked like relevant to my issue but did not succeed to find anything (tried enabling some features and checking the "no match". And my phone is NOT on battery saver mode).
I had a system update on my brand new s6 and now it won't vibrate for notifications it works for the keyboard and when it turns on and off so the motor is good. And I went into setting and it's all on. But I just can't get it to work.
How to disable vibration and sound in messaging app?
When you unclick the vibrate option in notification settings in the stock messaging app, it won't vibrate when you receive a text if you set your phone to vibrate mode.
I don't want my phone to vibrate and make a sound with volume on when receiving texts, but there doesn't seem to be a way to have it vibrate only when in vibrate mode and make a sound when in sound mode without vibration.
Other apps like groupme allow you to separate vibration and sound mode, but can't in the stock messaging app...
